Located along the Kansas River and known for its cheerful tulips, Topeka is a Midwestern gem that combines a busy, bustling downtown -- this is the capital city of Kansas and the seat of Shawnee County, after all -- with the natural beauty of the prairie. Topeka is also a college town, home to Washburn University -- a public university established in 1865.
Founded in 1854, Topeka has long played an important role in US history. It was an important part of the Oregon Trail, with a ferry located in Topeka that helped the travelers cross the river. The Brown v. Board of Education, a court ruling that ended public school segregation in 1954, involved a school in Topeka, and today the Brown v. Board of Education Historic Site features galleries, special exhibits, and tours.

Property Ratings at Summer Breeze Apartments
I'm a 2 year tenant and I've enjoyed my stay so far. I've never had any problems with the management or my unit. I can understand that others have had issues, however, that can happen anywhere you go and there are way worse places that are within the vicinity. Summer Breeze has been very decent for me in my experience. The price is very acceptable. I haven't had any maintenance issues that weren't fixed within the day. There's regular pest control. On sight laundry, which I appreciate. I can always contact management and get answers when needed. I don't mean to gloat but I honestly haven't had a bad experience in 2 years. I would refer Summer Breeze to others and I even have a coworker friend that ended up getting a unit and they themselves are happy with it. I can understand that not everything is for everyone and that bad things do sometimes happen and leave 'bad taste in our mouths' but I wouldn't let others bad reviews completely sway me from giving Summer Breeze a chance. It's become a decent and quiet community and I plan on staying indefinitely.

There is so much drugs and break ins. The police are there all the time. They fixed the outside but didn’t fix the inside to many issues.
This is going on my 4th year here. My electric has been subsidized with my rent up until my next renewal of my lease because too many people have taken advantage of it so that's a negative because the most my electric bill can be is $40 and average has been $20 a month. Of course we couldn't utilize the pool this summer so another negative and I hope they fix it for next year or I could complain because actually up until recently things are slightly changing. I still like living here because it's quiet and very little crime. I'm close to my daughter's school, within walking distance as well as eating establishments and stores that are close. I don't intend to move unless things get extremely bad but I don't forsee that just the two new negatives I don't like. I plan to stay until I buy a house which might be when I'm done with college or at least finished my Bachelors so I can buy a house then it's bon voyage but overall I like it here.
