The nearby hiking trails and parks allow Downtown JC residents to get out and explore. It's an artistic neighborhood, home to places like the Tipton Gallery and the Nelson Fine Arts Center. The Hands On! Regional Museum is a terrific destination for all ages, while East Tennessee State University's Reece Museum explores the history of the Appalachian region.
With a variety of festivals and events held year-round, there's always something happening in Downtown Johnson City. April brings the Thirsty Orange Brew Extravaganza, while the Blue Plum Festival in June celebrates live music. During the summer and fall, Founders After 5 is a free music series held at the amphitheater at Founders Park.

Property Ratings at Summer Chase Apartments
Parking is not available here after 5pm. Other tenants who are NOT handicap park in these spots and do not care about disabled folks
New management has turned things around. It is a lot better they are quick to fix any issues that arise. Yes it has some flaws but considering when the apartments were build it will have a few issues and nothing is perfect. With time this will be an amazing place to stay with all the positive changes taking place.
Maintenance is terrible! I've had a leak under my sink for 3 months. No parking anywhere after 5pm on any day. Cars are broken into almost daily. Lots of kids running around with no parents in sight. 1 star is generous
This property is in terrible shape! Pool is green and smells really bad. Pot holes are so bad that they will tear your car or bike up. People coming and going all night. People just park wherever including in handicap spaces! Management and maintenance could care less!
Anyone who lives here or has lived here knows this place is a dump. Management writes all the positive reviews, don't be fooled... This place is far from quiet. The pool is always closed because Management failed to properly care for if. There's a huge problem with theft. I've had my car broke into 2 times. Management doesn't not care nor will do anything to prevent it from happening in the future. This Management team is terrible... Constant noise throughout the apartments, kids running up and down the steps. Do yourself a favor and find somewhere else to live
And has been for a very long time, I was there for 2 years and only saw a few improvements one being new roofs on all the buildings which the contractors did a great job but the money would have been better spent repaving the parking lot. The pool water was green all winter, the nets in the basketball courts were torn for the whole time I was there, there was constant noise from cars blaring loud music and driving too fast, kids and dogs. I would not recommend you move here.
Summer Chase I is a joke. New management have said they are here to make “improvements” which are people stomping on the roof at 7 am talking at high volumes. Maintenance will welcome themself at any time into the apartment unannounced. Not a safe place for kids or adults. Rent is raising for these so called “improvements.” If improvements include being watched when you’re taking your trash, hearing people inside your apartment, having ignored mold, or seeing drug deals every other night then Summer Chase is the place for you! If you’re a horror movie fan, it will feel like you’re living in one.
I have lived here for 2 years. In that time it has changed ownership about 6 months ago. The last owner was ok, this one is just indifferent. Service calls are largely ignored and have been for 2 years. I have had some sort of black powder residue coming from faucets for years with no resolution. There is some drug dealing on the property and a nice walk at night around the complex will make you wonder if Willie Nelson lives in each building. The HVAC has not been cleaned in sometime so if your neighbor smokes or cooks a fragrant dish....you will get the aroma in your house as well. The price is not worth it...I am moving out due to the factors listed above so if you get my apartment...I hope you enjoy. Don't say we didn't warn you.
Sadly, Summerchase has gone downhill. Although management raised rent to make much needed improvements throughout the complex, we never saw the changes. Weeds growing in landscaping, dog park was rarely mowed, and the overall appearance of these apartments are rundown. Management and maintenance won’t return calls. Save your money, and rent somewhere else.
They don't take care of the interior or exterior of the units and they will lie to you till they're blue in the face. Would never recommend this place.
Stay away new mangement is horrible. Property isn't taken care of any more and manager never answers the phone. Can't get work orders taken care of.
Love my apartment love the pool love the dog park! Only wish I could have got a downstairs apt
Absolutely gorgeous community with amazing residents and amenities! The new clubhouse is going to be one of the best in the area!
Sumner Chase has changed tremendous! Great location and amenities galore@
Dear all I suggest not to move to Summer Chase. We lived 2.6 years and they never came for any maintenance. very poor condition of apartments. The apartment office lady will never pick your phone. They will not return your security deposit and they are notorious in that. I suggest not to pay last month rent and tell them to deduct from security deposit. AC was out of order in May / June and they did not fix it for 3 months, whole of summer was without AC. Had to replace all four tires of my car due o potholes in their roads.
Worst place I have ever lived. New management is terrible. Apartment smells like smoke all the time. People smoking all around the apartment. So if you have kids and want to keep them with health lungs avoid this place like the plague.. don’t worry management doesn’t care about the health of children. Poop over flowing at the dog park. Oh and put aprentmnet rail on the porch is about to fall off. This place is trash complete trash.
We moved in May 29th and the staff was super helpful. we haven't had any major issues and when something has come up they have dealt with it in a very timely and professional manner. We love the apartment and cant say anything bad about it. The only thing I think they could add would be a playground, there are a lot of kids that would love this, my 3 included.
Was suggested by Paralyzed veterans, for their handicapped apts. Have not really had many complaints just looking for a change.
Summer Chase provides peace of mind for raising kids. Safe community, great school districts, fun activities (pool, playgrounds, pet park). One big family is this area. Oh yeah near lots of restaurants and shopping centers. Appartments are amazing.
I currently live at the summer chase apartments in Johnson city, tn. The apartment is great, large enough for two college students with no problem, the location is great, it's quiet but still close enough to everything that Johnson city has to offer. It's under 4 minutes to get to the mall and under 10 minutes to etsu. The staff there is courteous and the handyman is always helpful no matter what time it is. With all these pros you'd think that the cons would be terrible, but the only cons I encountered would be that the rent is sort of high for two college students on a budget. I would highly recommend the place though.
