A mere six miles east of Huntsville, University/Research Park hosts one of the world's leading science and technology business parks. Central to the area's economy, Cummings Research Park brings together Fortune 500 companies and U.S. space and defense agencies with the best and brightest from local universities to create a premier center for research and technology. Townhomes and condos form the bulk of the rentals, meaning there’s something for families, students, and professionals alike.
This area has become a research hub for both government agencies such as NASA as well as private corporations including Lockheed and IBM. The abundance of research jobs in addition to the local educational institutions created the need for housing to accommodate the workers, students, and educators.

Property Ratings at Summer Tree
There is a constant change of office staff and maintenance personnel. I have had maintenance issues for over two months. Every time I go to the office to inquire they act like it’s the first they are hearing about it. Do not expect great service. There are two dumpsters for the entire complex that fill up pretty quickly. The community garden is over ran by weeds. The tennis court needs repairs and the poor excuse for a fitness room has broken equipment needing repairs for over a year.
They don't answer their phone, and they don't respond to emails.
This apartment complex changes office staff and maintenance so often and they are worst every time!! When I first moved into summer tree I was really great living here. Now it’s not so nice. I don’t remember the last time pest control has come to my apartment. The tennis court and pool has been needing repairs forever. The community garden is over grown with weeds. The drainage between the tennis court and community garden is filled with garbage. There are only two dumpsters that fill up quickly and management does nothing about the people who constantly smoke weed inside the apartments.
The actual apartment building is fine. Decent sound proofing in the floor and walls which is a bit unusual for apartments in my experience. Also fairly priced for space and water hookup. Can't say much for the outdoor amenities like the damaged tennis court or the pool (which has been closed from damages since we moved in 7 months ago). Though this wasn't a big problem for us. The biggest issue comes from the completely worthless management. We had a good move-in process, met with smiles and whatnot. But when our A/C unit broke about 3 months ago we found out that the management will not do anything for you until you force them to. It's around 88-90 degrees in this apartment all day without it. When we asked again if we could at LEAST get that deducted from our rent cost they finally gave us... a window unit. We've heard every excuse for why it was taking so long, then told they would install a new unit today. Except when we finally got a maintenance guy here today he started trying to fix our unit and said he'd need to order a fan. What? What happened to that new unit we said. And he said: "oh. I didn't know about that at all". I'm pretty sure the management doesn't actually do anything other than collect rent. Also we're still waiting on that A/C fix at this moment, 3 months later. The only internet provider here is WOW. Which has been mediocre at best. If you need more than 5mbps upload or 25 down forget about it. At around 60 a month. At&t had around 750 down and 25 up for about the same. And yeah, it's a gripe against the apartment complex for signing that exclusivity deal. TL;DR: As long as you don't need to have all your utilities working at once, it's pretty ok.
