Property Ratings at Summerville Campus Apartments-Student Housing
The price of the apartment is definitely ridiculous and don’t let the landlord fool you just because it’s a walk to campus doesn’t mean it’s worth it. The price to rent out one room is the price of what the whole apartment is worth, you don’t have any privacy because the landlord busts in to show people your apartment even without a notice to try and rent out the place for the following year, if there’s a problem with the apartment and you ask for maintenance it’ll either take him weeks to fix it or he’ll forget about it, and i could go on and on about how not worth it this place is please find something else and don’t just stay because it’s a walk to campus a drive is way worth it than paying for the apartment and dealing with the sneaky landlord.
I totally agree with everything the person wrote under the review “former tenant” I had the same experience and some more bad experiences with is place. I even got harassed a couple of times about my rent not being paid which wasn’t true. I always paid my rent on time and I had a receipt from them saying I did. When I would email them back or call someone on the phone to tell them I paid and have proof, I don’t get a apology from being harass nor do I get a simple our mistake. They have also threatened to evict me and my roommate one time, because of their mistake. My advice for new tenants is don’t stay here and if you do make sure you keep a paper trail of everything you do, because things would be said before you moved in or during your walk through. Then months would go by without anything getting done and he would say I didn’t tell you I will fix or replace that. Just be careful with how you handle things with this man.
The only thing this apartment has going for it is the proximity to campus. The units are overpriced and in very poor condition. The landlord said that the units will be remodeled over the summer and that never happened. Repairs are made slowly if at all. Owner/Manager will just state that these "are just student apartments" to try and rationalize shoty upkeep. He will provide band aid maintenance at best work to cover up more serious problems such as mold and mildew in his apartments. He will also nickel and dime you to death with charges for a pool key, missing light bulbs ($10/piece), and try to claim maintenance problems were your fault and take them out of your deposit when you leave. The only available cable line is WOW cable and is terrible. He will intimidate and harass his tenants to fit his own agenda of making the most profit that can and do as little as possible upkeep. STAY AWAY FROM THIS LANDLORD!!! HE IS BAD NEWS!
I moved in to the SCA apartments back when they were still Yorktown Apartments. In the past 2 years they have all gone through an incredible revamp and now the residence even have a pool and club house! I wish I could stay here longer but I graduate from AU at the end of the semester and will be sad to leave such a great place!
Great location for Augusta State. I can walk to classes. The apts are old but the neighborhood is safe. Location, Location,Location is what makes this apt a good place to be.
