Property Ratings at Sunset Canyon
lived here for 3 years now and it is a beautiful community! The maintenance guys are always fast and clean up after.

Thanks for your kind words and for sharing that you've had a great three years of residency! It's wonderful having you here and to know that you're satisfied with your overall experience.
If you value privacy, don't move here. Your neighbors will hear EVERYTHING you do. Management is a myth. Place is 40 years old, and has it's signs of age lack luster upkeep. Mice, rats, roaches. Non working gates. A rushed 'renovation' has only proven to exacerbate this issues as well as open the door for mildew and mold issue. SAPD has been out here quite a few times recently. I've lost count of the number of water outages we've had. The pipes exploded randomly. There's a leak that's been going for over a week they have yet to do anything about. Do not move here, Motel 6 will at least keep the lights on for you.
Rats in walls, all maintenance did is plug holes with spray foam that that the rats eat through, they put way more effort to make the outside look better than the inside of the apartment. Charging prices way to steep for what they’re actually giving you. AC went out a few times just a really old unkept apt.save your money and go elsewhere
This apartment complex has tremendous potential. The property speaks for itself. It is being ruined by unqualified and unprofessional property management. From water outages, gates, gym, false advertisement, pests, here are some examples for this review. We moved in around May. We were told gates would be up and running the following month and the gym would be open in 2 months. The person we dealt with seemed so positive and joyful. Everything changed once we moved in. Gates have yet to be working. The gym is open to limited hours even though the signs outside that have recently been planted read 24 hour fitness. A lot of what is advertised is completely misleading. It is completely understandable that problems arise that could be completely out of their hands. The way in which they choose to communicate these issues to their residents is the worst way possible in my humble opinion. They over promise and underdeliver. Emails are send out with high hopes and “positive changes” but no time frames or deadlines are set leaving the residents with nothing but more questions. Why try to create some type of resolution that only creates more problems? The gym is not well kept. There is no soap or paper towels or any way of sanitizing the equipment after use. So people use the bathroom with no where to wash their hands and then use the equipment with no way of sanitizing what you’re about to use after someone uses it. I tried calling the main office, and man are they passive and rude about your issues. It’s really disappointing. The property management advertisement speaks of a professionally run company, but I have found no truth in that. I’m speaking out to help future tenants before making a year long lease. And to the property management company, broker, and owners: Your help could possibly turn this complex around in a better direction. Simple customer service training would make a big difference. You can’t really blame the employees if they don’t have a strong backbone or real leadership in place. Transparency could possibly help tenants better understand what’s really going on vs. untruthful statements. My intention is to not upset anyone but rather push in a better direction.
I will start with the one good thing about this property: the maintenance crew. They are exceptional. But they have to be because you will constantly need them. This place is old and borderline decrepit! My guest bathroom constantly leaked from the apartment upstairs. The walls are so thin, you can hear everything from your neighbors. The front office staff is fake, especially Toni. Don't know how this place hasn't been shut down. DO NOT MOVE HERE. WORSE PLACE I EVER RENTED FROM. SO HAPPY TO BE GONE.

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. We hate to hear that you received anything less than exceptional customer service so much that it determined your stay with our community. Our team works so hard to make sure all of our future or current residents feel that they are receiving a superior living experience and we are saddened we missed that opportunity with you. Thank you again for your stay with us and we wish you the very best in your new home.
I have been here for over 6 years and things have been gradually going downhill. They have more office staff but less competence than when I initially moved in. The maintenance guys are quick to complete work orders when the office staff actually prints and gives it to them, but plan on having to request work orders multiple times. Water keeps getting shut off for "emergency repairs" and we were without hot water for 3 days due to a boiler failure. Despite all of that, water bills have continued to climb; my last three bills have been $70, $75, and $84 (it is only myself and my teenage son)!! I absolutely can't wait until my lease is up!!!

At your earliest convenience, please reach out to the office to set up an in-person meeting. Thank you for your feedback we hope to speak with you soon.
My apartment smell like weed often, is disturbing, management was informed and do nothing about it, except transfer me to another apartment, signing another lease, put another deposit and paying more for rent, without any guarantee of this situation would not repeat in the next building, so I am trap!!! Trying to raising kids free of drugs!!! This is how these people care about their tenants!!!!
DO NOT MOVE HERE ! I have had the worst moving experience of my life with the Sunset Canyon Apartments in San Antonio, TX. My move-in date was scheduled for today at 12, I have been driving to the apartment complex every weekend for the last month (I live an hour away) to make sure that all my paperwork was good, I tried to see the apartment I was moving into on multiple occasions but kept getting told it was not ready (supposedly getting maintenance done). I had previous issues with applying for the apartment for a specific rate and than getting told my rate went up with no explanation. I had emailed the corporate office for a response but they just forwarded my email back to the staff that did not help me originally but regardless I decided to give the apartment a try. I take off of work early yesterday to sign my paperwork after a week of setting up the electricity, renters insurance, changing my sons school and setting up the uhaul. I finally get to see the apartment and as soon as I walk in it smells horrible of smoke, the carpets are filthy and falling apart, we go to the guest bathroom and the bathtub is disgusting and peeling off with rust. I wait for the manager to come back from lunch so we can get me a new apartment and she tells me there is no other one and all they can do is get someone to clean the carpet, she had no sympathy at all that I literally went thru a month of waiting and work to see an apartment that was disgusting. She tells me they were short staff so didn’t have time to walk the apartment before. This has been the worst experience of my life, the apartment complex team had no sense of urgency, never followed up with me and didn’t even care to walk the apartment I was going to move in to the next day. I am now left trying to find a new apartment in one day notice.
The staff is so friendly. They all know my name in the office and try to take care of any concerns that I have promptly. They've had the same maintenance men for the 8 years that I've lived there which says a lot about the company. The pools are beautiful and well maintained. Parking has been great. I'd like for the cabinets and countertops to be a bit more modern, but the price here is great so I really can't complain.
Think twice before signing a lease at this place. The noise level in every apartment is horrendous. The management has been so lax in maintaining the apartments, the floors are all rotted out and have no subfloor. Every step the neighbors take causes an extremely loud creaking noise due to the flooring issue. I've had guests leave due to the distracting, loud creaking. If your stuck living next to a hyper/active neighbor you will NEVER have a quiet moment. When I complained the management tried to blame me (I needed to be more "tolerant") and actually said that "Every apartment at Sunset Canyon has the same issue." Time and time again the management refused to come listen to the noise I hear. I made some audio files of the noise the manager refused to listen to. I sent two certified letters to the management company, Clear Properties in Austin, who refused to acknowledge either one. I then filed a complaint with with the Better Business Bureau and, again, they refused to respond. (And, per the BBB, this isn't the first complaint lodged against Clear Properties that the've ignored.) So don't only think twice about moving to Sunset Canyon, think twice about renting from any of Clear Properties' complexes. If you do look at the apartments be sure to ask about this issue. Also, they'll show you a model that is nothing like the apartment they'll give you. The apartments have never been updated - old appliances, sinks/tubs that have been resurfaced many times, patchwork all over the walls/ceilings - and the floors are so old you actually need to remember where the holes under the carpet are or you might trip or twist your ankle.
Lived in this complex for 4 years. It's an older property so you can't expect much, but it's decent layouts and low cost of rent is worth it. The "gym" is subpar, but the staff is extraordinary! Work orders can be called in and usually have it fixed the same day. The staff goes above and beyond. Service is tops, they remember me, and even accept packages on my behalf and with my permission leave them in my living room so I don't have to worry about it being stolen. The only way this place could get better would be upgrading the look and appliances, but that would cause the rent to rise. I've lived in plenty apartments, some even nicer looking than this one, but the extra mile and friend smile of the staff is what makes me stay.
