Luxury living on the waterfront is a particularly alluring description, and that’s exactly what University Place offers. Though affluent housing on the Puget Sound is an obvious perk, this small city also offers a variety of apartments that range from affordable to upscale, so there’s something for everyone.
About six miles west of Tacoma, the charming town of University Place is situated between the state capital of Olympia and Washington’s largest city, Seattle. With scenic views of the Olympic Mountains, Mount Rainier, and the Puget Sound, residents of this city don’t want for much when it comes to beautiful views.
Chambers Bay Golf Course takes up a large portion of the city’s coast and is well-known for its perfectly landscaped green, picturesque views, and popular PGA events. On the same natural area lies Chambers Creek Regional Park that shares the course’s scenic views, boasting miles of walking trails, lush lawns, and a dog park.

Property Ratings at Sunset Ridge Apartments
My wife and I loved our experience at Sunset Ridge. We moved in quickly when I got stationed in WA. The approval process was fast & easy. Everything was attended to when we needed anything maintenance wise, I felt comfortable having my wife living here alone when I was away for months at a time. The whole atmosphere here is different than any other complex we've ever lived at, which has been a lot being we are a military family. I'd rent here again in a heart beat if we ever make it back to WA. You guys rock, Keep up the great work & don't change the way y'all do business. Its hard to come across a real management team that actually cares about their community the way you guys do!
Never took care of things on time. Took weeks for repairs!! And forget about getting anywhere when there's snow! Even though last winter we had over a foot of snow and multiple snow storms, they refused to plow it! Their reasoning- "We never get this much snow and we never plow". Real comforting when there's 1 feet of snow and you need to get to work. (How they expect you to pay rent when you can't go to work because of their negligence is baffling.) I've never met people who cared less for your well being. If you value your health, sanity, and hard-earned money, then don't rent here.
Worst experience ever here. Car was broken into twice. Management doesn't care and will take your whole deposit. Super fake people. Not a safe area whatsoever.
Just moved away to be closer to family. I lived here for a little over 2 years. The office girls, Krystina and Joanna have gone above and beyond for me and will be missed. There were a few times I was stuck in traffic and couldn’t get home to my dog and they didn’t hesitate to feed and potty my little pup. This is a clean and quiet community with great people working for this company including maintenance. One of the only places I have lived that actually has had the same people around from move in to moving out.
My wife and I needed to relocate here for work from California and had to rent sight unseen. As I am sure you can imagine this can be a huge risk when you are unfamiliar with the area you are moving to. The pictures online of the property was even better in person. My wife had wanted to see some extra photos of the inside of the apartment and they emailed them to us along with the applications. JoAnna took the extra time to answer many questions that I had about the area including shopping and outdoor activities for my wife and I and our dog. The application process was very easy and straightforward; they were upfront with gathering all the information needed to get us approved with our situation. Our move in went smoothly everything was ready when we arrived in our Uhaul. We didn’t have any issue to complain of during our time there. Our Refrigerator went out and they had it replaced right away. Christina always took the time to see if there was anything we needed when I came in to pay rent. We moved out when we finally got familiar enough with the area to buy a house. When we gave notice to move we were given a cleaning checklist. JoAnna walked the apartment before we turned in our keys and got our security deposit refund to us in just a couple of weeks.
I loved living here and was sad to move for a job that took me out of state. I was referred here from a friend who used to live here. They said the place stood out because the office staff were super friendly and attentive during there time living at Sunset. Joanna and Krystina were quick to get my application approved and get me moved in right away. They were awesome the whole time I lived there, quick to take care of any work orders I had, always called to make sure the issue was resolved after the fact. The one problem I did have was that I came home on a few separate occasions to find someone parked in my carport-WHICH I PAY FOR... The ladies were on top of finding out who the vehicle belonged to and making sure it did not happen again. It is defiantly rare to find office mangers that are so dedicated to their residents and actually know us by name and take the time to talk with us. When it came time to move they were super helpful to walk through the apartment with me so I could get as much of my deposit back as possible, which i did! The property is beautiful the maintenance spend alot of time adding plants throughout the year, keeping the grounds picked up and ponds clean. Great experience!....If I ever return to WA I will be back!
Where do I even begin!? This place has treated me great & I was sad to move away, I bought a House so it was time to retire from apartment living. Firstly, The assistant Manager Krystina is a Doll, She was able to answer every question I had when beginning the application process all the way until Move in day, She got me approved in a little less than 72 hrs & I move in that weekend. She was very thorough with the lease signing and very meticulous during the move in walk through & wrote down every little thing I wanted written down to avoid any charges on Move out. While living here for the 2.5 years, it was very peaceful & welcoming. Every time I needed to go into the office for any reason, I was welcomed with a smile & always asked if there was anything they could do for me (never got that at any other place), it just felt like home. When I got approved for me home loan, they were excited for me to journey off into my next steps in life & offered advice when I asked. Joanna is the Manager at Sunset Ridge and she was phenomenal when it came time for me to move. She gave me a move out cleaning checklist which made everything easy and clear on what I needed to do to ensure a good refund on my security deposit. The carpet cleaning fee was 80 on move out and since I used my fireplace a lot while living there, it did need to be painted which is fair enough. I would definitely rent here again if I ever needed to and will refer this place to anyone looking for a good humble place to call home. Thank you guys for being so great to me and treating me like a human being VS. just another tenant.
horrible, do not rent here, rent next door to them, much nicer place anyway. No parking, be prepared to come home at night and have to walk from the other side of complex in the rain with groceries. They dont know how to paint or clean but will charge you for anything or anything they can make up. Sprinklers will spray your car and leave water marks. Probably never had power growing up so they love it when they can screw you over and use it and take your hard earned money
They will take your money when you move out. Worse than a bank. Don't let them fool you, take it from me and detail everything with photos to the point it seems ridiculous because they will find a way to make you pay. Old carpet that was matted down, paint splatter because of poor workmanship, gum marks with furniture marks left from previous person and want to charge for normal wear and tear to re stretch old carpet when it needs to be replaced anyway. Do not rent from this apartment.
My son, who is active duty, and my daughter in law were approved for an apartment and then Krystina calls them to say they denied them because someone in their "upper" management said that my daughter in laws Emotional Support Animal letter was fake. I made several attempts to contact them, but no return calls. My son contacted Krystina and she pretty much laughed at him when he asked for the property managers name and said, "we aren't allowed to give that information out". They had no problem speaking to me when it was friendly, but now that they know they are in the wrong, they do not even have the decency to return my call. Shows how childish they really are first of all and how unprofessional they are second of all. NOBODY at this company is qualified to say that a LICENSED MEDICAL MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELOR wrote a fake letter. They could have reached out to the counselor instead of denying them, but they didn't. My son has all of their household goods being sent there and now has to scramble to find another place. I won't stop with just this review and will keep going until I get to the top
The ponds is what attracted me to this place! I love the water! Got lucky enough to land an apartment on the pond which was a huge bonus, I moved in here at the end of 2015 and I love it here and hate that I have to move at the end of 2016 but I just wanted to take the time to tell you all how great it has been living here. Joana and Christina got me approved and moved in super fast which was awesome because I didn't have much time to find a place. The property is always cleaned and work orders are done within 24 hours. When I go in at the beginning of every month to pay my rent, I'm always asked if I need anything and how I am doing, which is nice because other places ive lived have never felt welcoming when stopping by the office. keep up the good work sunset ridge!
Hi my name is Lawrence Johnson I live in a 760 sq ft bedroom with my girlfriend it's fairly nice despite the limit of space decent size living room, and the bathrooms small but shabby. My bedroom is a pretty average size but I have a king sized bed so it really isn't space to move around I have a walk in closet which is tiny. My Girlfriend Ashley and I are expecting pretty soon and we are looking for a bigger place for our child. Nothing would make us more happier than to be able to not worry about rent for a year. Im working a job full time but the company's going down the drain, my girlfriend has a job working for Verizon call center. Thank You for this oppurtunity!
Starting with the staff that obviously has to much time on their hands who wants to mow grass in the exact same spot every single day at 5am or for them to barricade You in your apartment with sprinklers you can't even walk to your car without getting soaked and they just look at you and laugh.i reported spiders they came and sprayed in 2 spots and the spiders how got so much worse no office staff answer the office phones I pay nearly 900 for a 1 bedroom and I believe that is very unreasonable so many door and window fixture issues it's ridiculous do not move here!!!!
