Terrell Heights is a hidden gem amongst the ever-growing suburban communities of San Antonio. Ideally located, Terrell Heights is just six miles north of Downtown San Antonio and is home to the McNay Art Museum, which houses a diverse collection in a renovated 1920s mansion.
The neighborhood is about two blocks northwest of Fort Sam Houston, making it a great choice for service members who want to be close to work. Some of San Antonio’s most popular attractions are well within reach, too: the San Antonio Zoo, Splashtown San Antonio, the AT&T Center, and San Antonio College. That doesn’t mean there’s nothing to keep you entertained within the boundaries of Terrell Heights. There are restaurants and shopping opportunities on Austin Highway, the community’s west border.

Property Ratings at Sunset Ridge
Do NOT move here! The roaches are huge and they don't go away! They will crawl on your ceiling while you're sleeping and then land on you!
Sunset Ridge is what I call home. The apartments are comfortable and the staff goes out of their way to get the neighbors together. I have lived here for over 2 years and it just got better since the new management has food trucks for us and events! Will definitely renew here.
This is a great location. It is safe and maintenance attend your request quickly. It is a dog friendly location. Apartments are a good adequate size.
The only thing that's impeccable and gorgeous is the model and the office. The buildings are old, no security on the doors so anyone can walk into the buildings. The only thing that is a hidden gem about this place is the kitchen everything else is old and falling apart. My apartment must have 10+ coats of old paints multiple colors on the doors and you can see all the old repairs. The buildings smell like garbage because they don't have dumpsters so you have to put your garbage in the hallway. Maintenance of the buildings and the upkeep of the property is a joke. Multiple lights have been out in the buildings and no one has replaced them, so you're walking into a building with no locks on the front door into dark spaces and you hope no one is waiting for you. If you drive by the property you can see the front doors to the buildings open, why because of the garbage in the hallway. The hallways are filthy with residual of garbage leaking all over the stairs and walls and the property doesn't clean it up. I rented an apartment without looking at it, and there was a hole in the tub that was the size of a foot. How do you rent out an apartment and not know that. The hole in my son's bedroom window screen which you can put a small dog through hasn't been repaired since I moved in. If you want to know what the place really looks like you can come into any building because they're not locked up and get a good look at how they take care of their property. My neighbor left their dogs poop in bags in front of the apartment building when there was a can across the street and it took them a month to put it in the trash. They allow the residents to put their belongings like chairs and christmas trees in open bins to sit on the front porch and in front of the building. Trash and old belongings to previous apartment renters are sitting on the front porch of my building. I've ask them to clean it up and it's still sitting there it's been months. They can come and attach a note to your apartment but they can't clean the buildings or get rid of the trash. Pests are another issue, I've sat and watched waterbugs, german cockroaches and mice infiltrate my aparment, leaving their excrements everywhere. These buildings are so old they're living in luxury inside the walls. Do yourself a favor run for the hills and look at another apartment complex, this place isn't worth the money they're asking.
Great landscaping & amenities. Pool & gym always clean.
With the cold temperature, of course my heater decided to quit working effectively. Thankfully the maintenance crew came right away, and I was able to warm up the place quickly with little discomfort! Thank you!
Proceed with caution, do not sign lease without seeing apt., you have that right. My nightmare was from day one.
Leasing agents are always available to assist in problem solving issues in my home. The maintenance crew always respond within one day to repair any repair issues.
Unprofessional, poorly kept up except what can be seen on N. New Braunfels. Trash all over.
Sunset ridge has really gone down hill. Dont take it as its previous reputation if you lived there before. The hallways always smell like trash whoever manages the maintenance crew is unresponsive and most staff I run into lies except larissa
Sunset Ridge is a beautiful complex with excellent facilities. The landscaping is lovely. My dog & I love it here, and we have met wonderful people. Watch for rent hikes and lots of additional fees.
I have thoroughly enjoyed living at Sunset Ridge. Although there are regular apartment issues (pests, one uninvited mouse, neighborhood noise), maintenance has always been swift, friendly, and informative. The amenities are amazing. The pool is great, and the gym is by far the best apartment gym I have ever come across. It feels more like a home because the property is spread out, and full of trees. It is beautiful, and I highly recommend considering it here!
Clean surroundings. Courteous staff but deficient in satisfactory repairs.
The Maintenance Crew are always available when I needed something to be looked at. The office staff always respond to my requests.
I have lived at Sunset Ridge for four months and am happy I chose this community. The management team is always courteous , polite and are concerned about any issue I may have. The grounds, buildings are maintained by the maintenance employees and they too are polite and courteous. Ive had one issue in the past four months and it was resolved same day. The manager, Mia, is cordial and always takes time to greet you by name, not just hello. Sunset Ridge is a safe and clean complex to live in.
Great place to live. It is clean, convenient, and friendly for children and pets.
It is just okay. For the price you sort of get your money's worth. There are places for the same price with much newer and better appliances. The community is fantastic and its a nice area in which to live but the inside is just overall very poor.
This is a quirky and attractive community in a fantastic location with great staff!
Until now I have lived happy and comfortably, because the area is safe and quiet and also have close to me shops that cover some of my first needs
The units are beautiful - hardwood floors, plenty of windows, granite counter tops, tile splash backs, and stainless steel appliances. The location is convenient - we love being able to walk to CVS or the hardware store if we need something in a pinch. The amenities are fabulous - workout facility, trash pick up, W&D in unit, etc. We are so happy that we decided to lease here.
I moved here in November of 2019 this place has definitely gone downhill! Management is the worst, they do not care about the tenants, only nice while you are considering to move here. The maintenance staff are nice, but sometimes I wondered if they really know what they are doing. The buildings are very old, sure they slapped on some granite countertop and added stainless steel appliances and call it luxury style (no...way), bathroom fixtures are old, tile work is old and yellow, they paint the fixtures (who paints fixtures in a area where there is moisture?) it comes right off after a while, same with the tub they paint the tub and when you go to clean it, it peels right off! Baseboards around the rooms are not cleaned before they paint. Don't let the model units deceive you. The walls are paper thin, if you live downstairs forget about getting any rest, or peace and quiet. The floors are very thin and creaky you hear every step(forget it if they are stompers), you hear every conversation next door, upstairs, TV, music, and occasionally you'll hear some snoring, you hear when they get into bed, open and close their dressers. I am so glad to be leaving and will never recommend this place to anyone. If you complain about the noise they say "no one ever complains". Do yourself a favor and keep searching!
I have been a resident for almost 5 years, so you know Im happy with the service
Overall, I'm satisfied living here; but there are some things that could be improved. That is landscaping, appliances, and parking enforcement. The good, plenty of outdoor space, good floor plan, kitchen finishes/layout, friendly people, and quiet neighborhood.
This place has gone down hill! management and it staff dont care about their current tenants only about getting in tenants. Building is so old 70 years old poor insulation, creaky floor, poor quality of paint work work. Pool area looks horrible. Would never recommend this place to anyone!
I would not move here. The only thing this place has to offer is location. You are just a renter nothing more. For the amount of rent you pay you can find a newer facility with better customer service.
Maintenance staff is great. Cockroaches are a big problem.
Beautiful apartments, friendly and helpful staff, nice amenities that are sadly closed due to the pandemic. A little too much student noise at times, but generally this is a very friendly and quiet community. Would recommend if more attention was paid to preventive maintenance (not just mowing and leaf blowing!).
The best thing this apartment has going for it is location and the amenities that give it a great community to be in, but when you take away or limit those amenities it loses its appeal. Especially when your competitors are allowing full access.
Great location! Quiet and well-behaved residents.
Stunning units, friendly neighbors and ideal location make living at Sunset Ridge an easy choice.
We love it here! From property amenities to physical location, can't beat it!
This is the best apartment living in San Antonio. Wood floors, classic mid-20th Century style, a great swimming pool, windows on both sides for flow through ventilation on great days, and great management and maintenance.
The location is amazing and the staff is extremely helpful.
A greater effort must be made to remove the trash and disposed of furniture
Very nice and peaceful community. Apartments are very clean, and spacious.
Sunset Ridge is one of the most beautiful apartment communities in San Antonio. The age of the property gives it character, while the units offer a modern look and amenities that make it comfortable to call home.
Sunset Ridge is a great place to live. The apartments are so charming. It's the best of both worlds with original hardwood flooring yet modern, renovated kitchens. All of the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The amenities are also a plus!
This is the 2nd time in my life that I have selected Sunset Ridge Apartment Homes. My first experience was a relocation from Houston, and this second time after becoming a single again. I enjoy the Community of Sunset Ridge and responsiveness of the a Management Team to maintenance requests even after hours. Sunset Ridge Apartment Homes offer modern amenities while maintaining the architectural beauty of hardwood floors, open vistas of nature, close proximity to San Antonios downtown, missions, and cultural identity.
I am pleased with the quick response of the maintenance staff.
Ive been here for 3 years and have not had any major problems. The minor issues Ive had have been few and far between, and were resolved quickly. Community is nice and there are plenty of areas to enjoy the outdoors.
The apartment location is probably the strongest aspect of Sunset Ridge community. The lowest point is the management both local and corporate that is not interested in existing residents, no flexibility in time of a pandemic says a lot. Maintenance service is good.
Sunset Ridge is a great apartment complex with great maintenance service.
Any maintenance issues are always taken care of promptly and professionally. The maintenance team is really friendly and does a nice job
I love living here. Spacious, attractive apartments with up-to-date features in a lovely neighborhood.
Beautiful community with great staff, ready to help when needed.
Management is not attentive to issues and can’t be bothered to ask questions. Plus there’s lots of cockroaches.
Excellent location, clean, safe environment. Cosy!
Very close too great high school, close to restaurants and shopping, very dog friendly community, friendly staff
Sunset Ridge could be a great residential community if some of the concerns I addressed were implemented.
I love these apartments! They are affordable, have great amenities, are in a safe location, and maintained really well
