Both Cedar Mill and Cedar Hills are tranquil suburbs known for their upscale residential communities. In fact, in 1961, the residential construction of the Cedar Mill and Cedar Hills area became the largest project of its time in the western United States. Because of its proximity to Downtown Portland and to central shopping centers, Cedar Mill and Cedar Hills both have growing populations.
Since their development, the communities have added more houses and residential enclaves, followed by a number of top-notch schools and community centers. The area booms with a community atmosphere, convenient shopping centers, and peaceful local parks.
The Cedar Mill and Cedar Hills communities lie within Beaverton, and traveling to Downtown Portland, just seven miles to the east, is an easy commute. Exciting attractions like Washington Park, Oregon Zoo, Portland Japanese Garden, Pittock Mansion, and Providence Park are just minutes away.

Property Ratings at Sunset Summit Apartments
I have lived here for two years and recently renewed my leasing for another year. The admin team maintains the units in pristine conditions. Mr Leopoldo (Polo) is amazing, always finding the best way to promptly assist all residents with our service requests. Thank you Mr Polo for the great work that you always do for all the residents! He is a great asset to the company and a fantastic team member. The location of this community is very convenient as is only 10 min from downtown Portland but have a very serene living ambience, and the view from my apartment is beautiful, breathtaking!. I love where I live!

Thank you for sharing your positive experience! We love hearing from satisfied residents and are committed to keeping that positive momentum going. If there’s ever anything we can do, just let us know! Take care.
Just moved in and can say the girls in the office were very nice, which made for a smooth transition. Head of maintenance, Polo, was extremely helpful and the grounds are kept really well. Overall a good experience.

Thank you for the amazing review for our team and community!
Constant construction noise, constant paint smells, constant blocked access due to construction -- you are living in a construction site and there seems to be no end in sight

Thank you for sharing your concerns about the ongoing construction project. We're committed to completing the construction project as efficiently as possible while minimizing disruptions to our community. We're working closely with the construction team to implement measures to reduce noise and limit access restrictions. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. Please don't hesitate to contact our office if you have any specific concerns or need assistance.
I moved in from out of state in April and really love living here so far. The current management is doing their best to keep up with ongoing maintenance of this large complex and have always responded to my needs quickly and in a friendly way. I like that we always get plenty of email alerts for maintenance projects or other community info. Food Truck Thursday has been fun, too. Now that the amenities are available, it's even nicer. Pool and spa pool are lovely. Grounds are beautiful. My unit is in a very quiet building and the layout is ideal for me. During the transition of management, my unit didn't get any flooring upgrades before I moved in. The flooring inside my door is very odd so it will be tricky to keep the carpet clean during the wet months. Another con from my perspective is that the package room is constantly jammed making it difficult to locate items. There's ample parking for guests and my assigned spot is included with the rent. Location is ideal for all my needs. At this point, I expect to stay here for quite a while.

Thank you so much for the glowing review and recommendation! We hope you do stay here for quite a while! :-)
I’ve been anxiously waiting to move into my new apartment here since June 1st, and I have to say, the customer service has been wonderful! Despite the challenges they have faced with a limited staff, they are professional, and when they say they’re going to do something, they do it! I’m looking forward to living here even more. Shout out to Rheina (excuse my spelling) for her dedication to excellence and her team! I appreciate your professionalism and quick responses. So excited to call this place my home, tomorrow!

Shout out to YOU for the amazing review! Thank you so much! :-)
It’s been challenging with new management but they are doing the best, considering the pandemic. They are taking care of us better than previous management. Thank you Prime for doing your best...all things considered. Keep doing what you’re doing. That said, beautiful apartments with great views. I love my home.

Thank YOU for taking the time to share your wonderful experience! We love you too! :-)
I have lived here for 3 years, and loved every moment! Friendly helpful staff, impeccable grounds, quick responses to any maintenance issues, and very reasonable rent! I loved living in a 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment tucked into a quiet hillside neighborhood, but still within less than a mile of my work (St. Vincent's hospital). Added bonuses of convenient amenities, and within a quick walk of the grocery store! Do yourself a favor and consider this community. I would stay another three years if I could! (moving for work)
The view is spectacular! The interior is in excellent condition. I've noticed every apartment is being completely remodeled when someone moves out (carpet, appliances, everything), the owners are spending a lot of money on refurbishment and it shows. Pet owners delight - very pet friendly and plenty of places to walk your dog. The community seems friendly, everyone says hello. The parking can be a bit cramped depending on what building you're in but for the most part ample and you never have to worry about getting towed. The office staff is great, very responsive. The repair guys are great, show up on time and make sure everything is taken care of before leaving. I really like living here. The best part is the view! Looking out over Beaverton and Cedar Hills, puffy clouds in the blue sky, all of the lights at night - no other place like it on the west side!
This place charges an obscene amount for what is a completely basic, and aggravating apartment. Claiming to be "luxury," it's not anywhere near luxury (as anyone who tours one of the newer lofts downtown knows). This place charges the same as luxury apartments/lofts, but isn't anywhere near that. The appliances constantly break, the heating doesn't work either (uses cheap space heaters mounted into the walls of the living room, and baseboard heater in the bedroom). The gym is never cleaned (yes there is a gym, but it is not maintained in any way), the interiors are very poorly considered, and the companies they use to do repairs and such do such a poor job that there are gaps in walls, ceiling heights, (and that's only if you're one of the residents who didn't have construction workers outside (and inside your home for months on end). There's a real difference between quality/luxury and cheap knock offs. This place is a cheap knock off. People who live her pay for everything, water, all utilities, trash removal, everything. Even bikes! They won't even allow you to store your bikes in the carport, but are forcing residents to pay $5 to store them in the "clubhouse." The only good thing about this place is the people on staff who work the grounds and do repairs. But they are not treated anywhere near where they should be. I will also say that office staff have people come in and out of your apartment whenever they want to, or do not take care of requests in a timely manner. I've seen the staff be totally unaccommodating to people over serious issues. Seriously, for the money, rent a place downtown that is CLEAN, NEW, has legit heating and cooling and appliances, and actually gives you something for your money.
Sunset summit= a construction zone with no regard to its residents. After living here for 2 years and going through 2 major construction projects it seems like it will never end. The projects are very poorly managed and they will NOT tell you about them when you sign your lease. Year 1= blacktop project. Instead of doing small sections at a time they tear up half the road all the way around the complex. Traffic jams, poor planning, pot holes, and a rushed project I fed up with tar everywhere and road conditions worse then they began with. Year 2= complete invasion and hostile takeover. Cosmetic repairs to the outside of the building= a take over of the apartment on the inside ( see pictures). Going on the 3rd month of this now and management refuses to do anything to rectify the situation. I also highly recommend getting a printed and signed copy of your lease. Management is known for sneaking things in at the end and trying to rush you through everything.
It would be best if you looked elsewhere. Pros: 1. There are great views 2. Apartments aesthetically look O.K. on the outside (and they're renovating so they'll look even better...on the outside) 3. They have a pretty cool mail delivery system for package handling 4. Their maintenance personnel are friendly Cons: 1. Not pedestrian friendly at all. If you want to walk west, you will need to cross the road at SW Miller Rd and SW Barnes. Otherwise, you will need to cross blindly at another exit west on Barnes (that's a fun turn btw). 2. The apartment complex is scattered across a hillside. It snows more here than other parts of beaverton, so be prepared. 3. Our apartment had fleas upon moving in. They don't seem to contract out to third party exterminators and use their maintenance personnel for that. 4. They have "smoke" alarms near showers and bathrooms which continually go off if there's steam. Should they go off too often, and should your neighbors complain, the leasing staff seem to passive aggressively tell you that you should close the door, turn on the fan, and deal with it (for the betterment of all, of course). Of course, this might also lead to mold, etc., as their fans aren't *that* strong 5. The leasing managers seem to want the apartment complex to look fantastic... on the outside...And they will go out of their way to do make sure that everyone knows. Like the typical home owners assoc., they will write passive aggressive paper notices to you when things are not up to their standards. A previous tenant had left a tire in one of our parking spaces; we left it there because it didn't seem to be in the way; the leasing office writes us an ultimatum to move it. 6. Look at the furniture & cabinetry carefully upon moving in. Assess whether *you* think it's well made, or a cheap alternative. 7. Read your leasing agreement *carefully*, especially with regards to the end of your lease. Remember what is written, and don't expect them to remind you directly. They will, however, tell you about the various special deals they have on new lease renewals (always a nice gesture). 8. Access to mail packages and various amenities is limited to leasing office hours.
I love the amenities and being so close to the city. The things I dislike are the thin walls and ceilings. You hear every step and activity of your neighbors above you. Also the rent hikes every year. You should lock in at 2 years if possible to avoid it.
I lived in Sunset Summit Apartments for a year and a half and I LOVED this place. The only reason I am moving out is because I am getting married and my fiancé owns his place. The apartments are nice and the amenities are fantastic. In full disclosure I only used the pool, basketball courts, gym, etc. a handful of times, but they were so great to have if I wanted to use them. The maintenance staff is amazing and what little interaction I had with the staff in the office was very pleasant. Though they might not know my name they always recognized me and were very helpful. No place is ever going to be perfect and this place definitely had some negatives, but overall it was one of the best apartments I have lived in. Pros: Easy access to just about anywhere in town. I work in NE, have friends in LO and Hillsboro and on the east side and it is pretty easy to get just about anywhere. The windows! I lived in a top floor, one bedroom so maybe they were bigger, but they brought in so much light. A/C, in unit washer/dryer, parking space - these three things are a must for me to live anywhere. The maintenance staff was always on top of any issue or problem. Amenities - gym, pool, hot tub, basketball and racquet ball courts. Cons: The walls are a little thin. My neighbors were particularly loud on one side which probably added to the issue, but they could use some more sound proofing. Cost - I loved this apartment, but I did think that the cost was a little high. Not terrible, but just a smidge and it keeps going up. The smoke detector/fire alarms were very touchy. They tell you to use the fan in the bathroom because the steam can set off the smoke detector just outside the bathroom door. But it also goes off if you use a humidifier or turn your heat on in the winter and your apartment has even a little moisture. It will just beep at you a little if these things happen, but when they really go off (thankfully mine never fully went off) all the smoke detectors in your section of the building go off. This happened a lot in my area. I think it had more to do with the people living there. It never happened in the middle of the night thankfully, but it was still an inconvenience.
I've loved living at Sunset Summit over the past five years! The complex is perfectly located among the scenic treetops in the west hills and very close to downtown, the 26 and 217 freeways, and Sunset Transit center. This beautiful complex is updated and well maintained inside and out. Both the office staff and maintenance staff are professional, helpful and friendly. Any maintenance issues are handled efficiently and courteously. I've always been treated fairly and respectfully. The downsides are, you never know who you're going to get as a neighbor. Unfortunately that's the risk with any apartment living situation anywhere. If you decide to move in with a "be responsibly considerate" mindset-you won't have issues with your neighbors, security or office staff. You do share walls, floors and ceilings. In the years living here, I've met mostly kind and considerate tenants who are friendly and respectful.
The lady was extremely rude. Took multiple attempts to get ahold of someone in person or on the phone. They no longer take pets even though website says they do and their flier on their desk also tells you about the deposit. She said they already have their fair share of animals.
