Resting in the San Bernardino Valley, about five miles southwest of Downtown Riverside, La Sierra is a charming neighborhood with its own flavor. La Sierra has several small schools and parks, while multiple beaches are about an hour’s drive away. The neighborhood is home to La Sierra University, creating the vibrant atmosphere of a university town with an abundance of restaurants and shops. Broken mail boxes CONSTANTLY. If you move here get a PO Box. This has been an issue for over 5 years according to reviews. Management doesn't care about people. You'll be treated like an apartment number. In their eyes amenities are a luxury you shouldn't expect to work. Anytime I've said anything about an amenity not working I get the same line - "You pay for the apartment, not the laundry/pool/fitness room, etc" When I complain about my mailbox being broken into TWICE, "We can't guarantee your safety. We don't have on-site security. Your lease states that." No humanity in the responses from Veronica. You will be a lease to her - nothing more. They said they'd be building a new secure mail center that would be done by September. We're almost in November and it's not done. They haven't updated the residents on on progress or new completion date. They did fix the gate finally, but only after receiving complaints. Veronica tried to claim they didn't know it was broken....for MONTHS on end. I was told a couple weeks ago that they'd find out what's up with the new mail center and never got a call or email back. They only care about responding if you complain online - and barely even then. The day after I complained about my mailbox being broken into twice since the "new mail center" announcement my car was broken into. What a coincidence huh? The least of the issues - and something I'd be told I don't pay for anyway even though it's an advertised amenity that I considered in my choice to move here - the fitness room "opens" at 7. That's only if the person who opens it actually gets up and opens it. It was still locked at 7:20 today and caused me to miss my workout. But hey...I pay for the apartment not the amenities. Let's see...what else? One of my neighbors shot at another one of my neighbors shortly after I moved in. The police had a 30 minute standoff with the guy. A homeless guy fell asleep on my steps and wouldn't wake up no matter how loud I yelled. I called the complex to have them call the police and asked that they fix the gate. They told me to call the police and then didn't fix the gate until months later. So I had to call the police just to take my trash out. Honestly you can live WAY closer to the coast for the same price in the same conditions.

There has been a delay in the completion of the mailboxes however we are very close into completing them. There has been an increase in homeless persons in the area, and the City of Riverside has been increasing their efforts around this situation. Please let our office know (or our courtesy patrol if it’s after hours), if you notice trespassers loitering at the community. We advise anyone witnessing or experiencing crime to contact the police immediately. We are thankful that you decided to renew your lease, and our team is always happy to help.
The first night I moved my place got broken into. They tried to break into my room twice until I got cameras! The broke into my roommates car, stole their wheels and cut their brakes. The neighbors are annoyingly loud all night. We had to get up early morning but we never got sleep! We complained multiple times but management is the worst they said it’s none of their business and they couldn’t help. They didn’t want to end our lease early, we almost had to get a lawyer involved it’s ridiculous. Don’t move in here!
We been here for one year it's been the best apartment ever
I lived here for couple of months and it’s ok There’s a lot of people smoking weed people whit dog don’t pick up there dog business there’s a lot of homeless people in the night The water get shutdown very often they don’t tell you so you’ll get surprised when you are showering. There cops most of the time in the back of the property Management is not the great there all ways acting and playing dumb the second month I started living here I got bugs inside my house So good luck Your welcome
I moved in here January 2018... it is now October 2018. My car was broken into the first month. Staff said there are no cameras in the back of the complex. They were NO help! They seemed unfazed by the news that my car had been broken into. They have lied several times to my face. The complex smells like URINE... no one picks up their dogs poop. Maintenance only comes if you call multiple times. I never let them come into my house unattended. They don’t check income requirements so it’s super easy to get in, which is probably why there are so many ghetto things going on here. Loud music playing all night long, again staff does nothing about these complaints. I have been so disappointed living here. I think I would feel differently if they were super cheap but I’m paying the same amount here as if I would somewhere much nicer.

If I could give zero stars I would! The complex is not secure at all, looks are deceiving and staff lies about security measures in place. Gate is always broken. Random people I’ve never seen and sure are not tenants hang out at pool all night. Homeless people living in pool bathroom. No security on site, maybe once a month they decide to show up. Police always on property, I’m talking multiple times a week. Office staff is very rude and unprofessional. Good luck trying to get maintenance to attend to problems in a timely manner. Emergency 24 hour line is useless, got locked out after given the wrong key when we moved in and was unable to get a hold of anyone. I’ve had someone steal things from my patio while asleeep. Multiple cars stolen from inside “gated” lot. My car was stolen and front office staff said their security cameras don’t actually work! Trying to break our lease, paying way too much for not being safe at home and no help or compassion whatsoever from staff. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.
I have lived here for over 10 years and I'm still happy with my decision. There are ups and downs, as with any rental property. Sometimes the water gets turned off for routine maintenance. Sometimes you can't find a parking spot. For the most part, the property is clean, they respond to maintenance requests quickly and the property manager is friendly. If I had to offer any negative feedback, it would be that they raised my rent significantly last year, $70! When I first moved in in 2005, my rent was $725 and now its $955 for the same apartment. And that's because I've lived here a decade! New residents are looking at over $1000 for this place and while I don't necessarily think that is a bad deal, I think you can find a newer place for around the same price. Do take into consideration this is right down the street from the mall, restaurants, shopping, groceries, freeway, etc. So its super convenient and has kept me from putting too many miles on my car, which I love.
