Lansing is the capital city of Michigan, neighboring one of the state’s most notable universities, Michigan State University. This institution’s sprawling campus borders Lansing to the east, and a hefty portion of the student population calls Lansing home, giving this city a college town vibe. Though Lansing is the state capital, rentals in the area are surprisingly affordable, offering apartments, condos, and houses.
Downtown Lansing is a charming historic district along Grand River, featuring must-visit historic sites like the Michigan State Capitol and overlooking shops, cafes, bars, and more along South Washington Square. Local entertainment options appeal to residents and visitors alike, such as the Cooley Law School Stadium, the proud home of the MiLB’s Lansing Lugnuts and the Impression 5 Science Center. Small businesses keep Lansing’s charm alive, so be sure to check out the Lansing Brewing Company on Shiawassee Street after you find your affordable apartment.

Property Ratings at Sycamore Townhomes
I suggest if you have children not to live here they have a black mold problem, wolf spider/brown recluse problem, the basement floods, and if damages were already in the unit before you moved in they actually accuse you of those damages that were already done before you moved in

My townhome had mold, food, and grease all over the stove, fridge, and counter tops. The “fully” renovated units are half done. New paint and flooring that’s it. The office and maintenance are as helpful as pedals on a wheelchair. This is NOT worth the price. Can’t wait to move out next year.

It's okay if you mind your own business. Some residents party too much and marijuana smells come through the walls. No handicap parking in lot where I live. Sometimes lot is full. Not a bad place. Can be peaceful at times.

Woodside Meadows now called Sycamore Townhomes can be a nice place to live. If the owner/management will continue to make the community safe and repair issues that are clearly necessary then living here will be a pleasant experience.

I've been living here for over a year and its not too bad but management changes frequently and the pool has never once been open and it looks like it hasn't been taken care of in years. Advertising that you have a pool when we can't even use it is false advertising. Making people pay extra to have a pool and then them not getting to use it EVER is a scam.

The changes this property has been seeing lately are amazing. Just the fact that you can call the office and Jessica and Mike are so nice and helpful (and they answer!!!!!) That is amazing. You can really see the difference the staff is making.

I moved out of Woodside Meadows on 01/17/2018, and it is still an ongoing battle. On 08/15/2017 I and my former roommates signed a 12 month lease. When we arrived at the office, no one was expecting us. They had to draw up the lease on the spot. During this, we were told that our unit was not ready yet. That it would be 3 days. Woodside had offered us temporary living in a different unit, but we would have to move into our designated unit eventually. Maintenance original unit ready for us by the time we finished signing the lease. We went through the entire process of moving in and filling out prior damages paperwork. Things that we found as an issue took months to fix. Then the real issue began. We had dirty water coming up through our basement drainage system. This took over two weeks for them to get someone out to fix the water issue. Then several months for HAZMAT to come out and clean up whatever was in the water. During the time it took us to have the basement cleaned up, we had had the Fire Martial come and do health safety inspections. Three months later, our unit still was not up to code and we moved out.
Our air conditioning has been out for a month! Now it seems like we’re just getting the run around from everyone on why it cannot be fixed. Be careful! My husband called the office on MONDAY (it’s now Thursday) and she said she was going to talk to the maintenance and call us back. The blower is broken and if it was winter we’d be without heat this long. Not acceptable.
Absolutely disgusting. Infested with bedbugs, roaches and crime. One of the most run down slums I've ever seen. Should not even be allowed to be occupied.
Terrible out basement had sewage overflow it took 20 calls 3 face to face talks and 2 months for them to actually fix it. They never answer you calls. I have also had our oven get over 600 degrees and not shut off and still wouldn't come after I called emergency mentainence after a week the came in fixed it lucky it turned off and just wouldn't heat up. I also have a fire extinguisher that hasn't been checked and changed since 2014. They do not car about the people they live here they will trap you in your lease and screw you over time and time again.
From the website it looks great. Once you get there big reality check. Paint chipping off buildings. Blankets in some windows, cracked cement with weeds everywhere and unkept trashy parking lots. Just dont do it. Looks like something out of a nightmare. Bad neighborhood....dont rent on the southside of lansing.
This townhouse has been the best steal I've ever found in Lansing. Twice the size of most apartments, at almost $200 less, plus a FULL BASEMENT. The leasing office is visible from my window, and there's a pool available in the summer. Best part, they didn't hike my rent after the first year I began living here. The house is roomy, with lots of windows to let the light and the breeze in. I can't hear my neighbors through the walls, and they can't hear me, so I've never been disturbed by any yelling or wild parties. Maintenance answers at all hours, so when my hot water heater began flooding the basement at 2am, they had it fixed in no time at all, and there was no damage to any of my things. The parking lot is well maintained in the winter, so no real problems getting stuck in all the terrible Michigan snow unless your truck has no tread in the tires (like mine). No car? The bus stops right out front as well, and runs to MSU, LCC, and downtown Lansing. AWESOME. Off-campus student dream come true. There's a QD on the corner, and plenty of food in either direction. Definitely the best place I've lived.
