If you're thinking about moving here, DON'T. Move literally anywhere else. The staff is rude and unhelpful, the community is NOT SAFE, and the apartments themselves are not as nice as they should be considering the price. Save yourself the stress and pick literally anywhere else.

Soiled by crime and lack of cleanliness
Property crimes in this building are a routine occurrence. At least one resident appears to deal drugs out of the building. There are almost no security cameras and when a crime happens, nobody knows anything. Garbage is left in the halls for days.

Bad touring experience
The experience was terrible. We had appointment for tour on Saturday (12.4.2021) and then we were noticed the tour was cancelled because there’s no unit to show while we already on our way and almost arrived. Then they send another email saying the person who supposed to tour us was out sick today. After we arrived and saw there’s actually people sitting in the leasing office. We ring the door for 15 min, she was trying to ignore us at the beginning, but with the persistence we had she opened the door for us very unwillingly, and talking to us with the same lies that there’s no unit available blabla. She was not showing welcomes or trying to accommodate us with anything, and obviously she was acting perfunctorily and trying to let us go. I never had this kind of experience before and based on the other comment for this apartment, the property is under very bad management indeed and I doubt the suitability to live here.

OK, but not clean or secure
The modern building is nice, but lack of cleanliness and security are two big negatives. Cleaning is rarely done and property crimes are unfortunately common.

Overall I am enjoying my time here at Sylva and would recommend it to a friend. The fact that you live in downtown Bellevue and can walk around is awesome. My walk to work, for example, is 8 minutes. :D There is only one BUT. The windows are not noise proof, not even a little, therefore you hear EVERYTHING. A LOT of road noise. I've lived here over 6 months and you never really get used to it. If you do, then come on over. :)

Quiet living in downtown Bellevue
I lived in the building since 2014 when it was owned and managed by Su development and was called Soma apartments. And so my hubby and I got to see a lot.. Our experience was marginal until the management changed. They had the same number of people running everyday business as they do now, but we started feeling better cared for just about the management changed. We have been pleasantly surprised. Few notes: (1) I like the fact that the building isn't big, because it means there can't be too many people competing for the same space or resources (gym, common area or even the elevator :)) ...That said, I am guessing that's the reason why there is only 2 people resourced to support the residents. (2) All the flooring in the apartments was carpet (who likes carpet??). Sylva finally started changing to hardwood floor all the vacant apartments now. (2) The building is made of concrete, which supposedly is providing a little better sound insulation, other than the echo from the courtyard. Yet, living in the building for almost 4 years, I remember only a couple of times a resident would be inconsiderably loud in the courtyard or around the elevators. (Speaking of courtyard, it used to be a swamp, and they just added nice walkways.) (3) When we moved in, we lived in a west-side apartment for a couple of months in the winter. I remember it being pretty warm inside the apartment, to the point that we didn't have to worry about heating, though I bet summer would have been really hot without A/C. Then we moved to one of the 6 town-homes in the building, which had 3 A/Cs, super high ceilings etc. It was great. (4) People working in the office have been excellent with our needs. A burnt lamp or other issues like that are addressed very fast. (5) There have been many more social events happening lately. I was happy to participate in a live music event in Sylva recently, when they brought in a jazz band. (6) In the past, when the building was managed by Su development, we really felt forgotten.. I had friends living in Soma tower owned by Su development too (a block away from Sylva), and got to attend a few of their monthly community events. The difference between how much was done for their residents vs. ours was huge and that seemed unfair. (and, in fact, not just that... I remember we had a window that wouldn't close well and we'd have water coming in from the rain and we had to ask/remind for a few weeks for the staff to fix it. Thankfully, not the case anymore.

Our fitness is open 24 hours and we just updated to some new pieces of equipment that include a water rower, new treadmill with 15 inch screen, and a functional trainer. Complimentary towels and water available too! Yes, we are updating our apartment homes with hard wood plank flooring in all areas of the apartment homes except the bedrooms which are being updated to new style carpet. Our courtyard referred to as the “Endless Forest” will be opening soon with a lounge area and gas fire pit with new plants and trees. Great location, exciting modern building
After living in SOMA Apts. for five months, it's become very comfortable. The scale of the property is mid-size in comparison to many other downtown Bellevue developments. Accordingly, it's rather quiet. There's not a lot of activity in the halls, private parking lot or elevators and it makes coming and going very easy. The building's architecture has both Asian and Pacific Northwest influences and feels indoor/outdoor with with lots of glass and open air hallways. Since it is a concrete building you are less likely to hear your neighbors. One of the nicest things about SOMA apts. is the current management which is far more concerned with tenant happiness and upkeep than what you may find at some of the larger corporation-owned properties nearby. Overall, a great place!

Nice place to live
After looking at many places downtown, this was the best choice. Still live here after several years. However, old owners did invest very little in upkeep and some things were deteriorating. A few months ago Soma was sold to a new ownership and thinks are improving! We got a great new manager and maintenance person and they respond and fix things very quickly and with quality. 4/5 stars as there are some building and unit design "solutions" that are surprising... (it seams that people who designed and built Some didn't study basic laws of physics...)

One of the finest green living apartments in the heart of Bellevue !!
It is in the heart of Bellevue downtown, easy access to parks & general stores, greenery in the center of the apartment block. This apartment is themed to perfection in balancing modern living with the green living. Kudos to the maintaining group !

Not worth it
The tour is pretty and you feel so welcomed. But when you start to settle in, there are endless rules that come up. They are not pet friendly at all, they won't let your dog walk around any where. They charge a ridiculous amount for such small space. Management is awful they are so slow on getting back to you. There was so many mis communications on fees. Don't let the pretty apartment on the out side fool you!

Thank you so much for sharing your concerns. Our goal is to provide unsurpassed satisfaction in your residential experience here at Soma, and feedback from most of our residents is that we are doing exceptionally well. Unfortunately, it has been necessary to keep dogs on leash while on the property, as we do not have a dog run; however, there is an area outside our gate that is perfect for letting your dog off-leash in order to "use the facilities." In response to your input, we are adding a doggie station at this location to make it all the easier to manage clean-up after use. Ours is the only community management we are aware of that is generous in sharing personal text numbers with residents. We do this in order to provide easy access to us as needed, and we are quick to respond. In fact, we go 'above and beyond' in our efforts to be available to and serve our residents.
