Oak Creek is a suburban lakefront community just twenty minutes south of Downtown Milwaukee. With its close proximity to the larger city, low crime rate, and numerous high-performing public schools, Oak Creek serves as a highly popular home base for many Milwaukee commuters.
While mostly a residential community, there are a few large shopping centers positioned along Howell Avenue. The lakefront offers endless opportunities for boating and fishing, and the numerous public parks (Root River Parkway and Grant Park in particular) and golf courses give you lots of excuses to get outdoors and enjoy the fresh air. General Mitchell International Airport sits right on the north side of town, making it the terrific location for frequent travelers as well as daily commuters.

This place was nice to live in for the time being during the pandemic and all but when it came close to our lease being up in a few months me and my girlfriend are now looking for more affordable places i dont understand why but there is a problem with ants roaming around that we have recently found but overall it was great while it lasted

My family and I have been living at Tanglewood for a little over two years now. Definitely a nice place to live, with minor drawbacks. The pros - quiet area, excellent school district, great nearby parks, tons of shops, groceries, gas stations nearby. Maintenance has always been easy to reach, friendly and quick to respond. Units themselves are nice and for the most part up to date (we had an outdated washer/dryer and heating and cooling unit that had to be completely replaced within the year of moving in). Office operations are organized and professional. Pool is a major plus and is always clean. Parking is always available. Club house get togethers are nice, but could do with less of them and instead have money used to go towards building maintenance (hallways need new paint and carpeting) or rent decrease. Cons - After the first year we had a minor rent increase which was to be expected. However, after year two the rent increase doubled from last year which was a major setback. We questioned why it doubled and was told "That was what was decided and nothing can be done about it." We attempted to look into another rental elsewhere but not much else out there compares to what Tanglewood offers and at the same price. Plus we love the school district so that was a major reason to stay put for now. Building hallways need updates - new paint, new carpeting, maybe some art work to make it look nicer. Some of the rubber on the stairs is coming off and causes a major trip hazard. Also, it would be great if locks were put on the main doors to each building for added security since the apartment doors just have the one little lock. A deadbolt for apartment doors would be a great alternative to this if locks on main building doors aren't an option. They also need to do better with keeping up on regular appliance maintenance. Had they done so with things like AC units, water units etc they wouldn't run into so many issues. We really like it here and will probably stay another year but unless rent control stabilizes and better routine maintenance takes place, it's unlikely they'll maintain long term tenants.

Thank you for your insightful review of Tanglewood Apartments! We are happy that for the most-part you enjoy living here. We understand your frustration with rent increases, but we can assure you that we research the surrounding market to provide fair and accurate rental rates. Hallways are updated on a rotational basis and this year we painted and updated 9 hallways. Please contact the leasing office to provide information regarding your hallway. It may be on the list to update next year, but it is impossible to say without knowing what building/hallway you're referring to. Also, the rubber edging is a concern and we would like to inspect this for safety concerns. There may be some confusion regarding deadbolts because all of our apartments are provided with a deadbolt. We try very hard to maintain Tanglewood along with updating apartments and common areas as frequently as possible, but we are always open to listening to suggestions from our residents. Please contact our Property Manager so that we can get more information in order to work toward a solution to the items you mentioned. Thank you so much!
This is the worst place that I have lived in my 14 years of apartment/common living. Don’t be fooled by their marketing or show apartments because what you actually pay for is nothing compared to what they claim. There are plenty of housing options around this area. I urge you to do your research and find a home that will actually respect you and treat you well. This place will not. We left as soon as we found a common problem and that problem is the management. This place came highly recommended by multiple of our friends, however, after problems started happening, we found out that there was a management change between our friends stay and our stay. I highly recommend that you do not waste your time on this place as it will offer you nothing but headaches.

We are saddened that you have a negative opinion of Tanglewood Apartments. Both our Property Manager and Regional Manager tried on several occasions to work with you on your concerns regrettably to no avail. Our management company has been the same since Tanglewood was built, and the Property Manager has been with us for 7 years, so we are unclear when you mention a management change. We wish that we could have done something that would have made you happy, and we wish you well.
I've been in two different apartments there, and both have problems with bugs. All year round there are silverfish in the corners of the walls. Then once summer hits, all you can see in your apartment are gnats. Everywhere. In both the apartments I had. I even called maintenance and all they did was pour bleach down the drains. Other than that everything is great. The staff are nice, maintenance gets here pretty quick when I call, and they have lots of parties with free food. Just don't move here if you have a huge fear of bugs.
I have lived here for two years now in a one bedroom apartment. The office staff has always been very helpful and responsive and every time I have had to call the maintenance department they sent someone out in a day. I just had to call the after hours maintenance because my heat didn't work (old bee's nest stopped the heat from working) and someone came within 20 mins and had my heat working in 30 mins. There is ample parking, good lawn, lots of trees. There is Pick N Save, Starbucks, Cousins, Denny's and a Chinese place within walking distance. We have never had problems with ants, bugs or rodents. The apartment is quiet and we have never had a problem with theft or a break in. Tanglewood is directly next to the freeway and a major semi truck stop. I can get to the freeway quick, but sometimes I get on the freeway at 35MPH because I have a slow semi in front of me. I commute downtown Milwaukee for work and that usually takes me between 30-45 mins depending on when I head down there.

When scheduling an appointment to view the Tanglewood apartments, I was very excited and thought this was the place that I would get to call home. The appointment was scheduled to view a 3 bedroom apartment. Upon arriving at our appointment 2 weeks later, we were informed that there would not be a showing because there were no 3 bedroom apartments available to view. This was not what was agreed upon on the phone, so I'm sure you can imagine my disappointment. We were given the option to view pictures of the apartment, but I obviously didn't see the point in that since everything can be viewed online. The fact that the management couldn't take the time to call to cancel makes me extremely hesitant to rent from them. I don't trust a company that can't be prepared for an appointment that was made 2 weeks prior. This is the kind of company that looses your rent money. Long story short, don't even bother making an appointment because they'll just want to show you pictures you can see online and not the actual apartment. NOT WORTH THE TIME.
The apartment is excellent. I like the nice and calm environment away from the downtown busy life. I have been renting in downtown for last 4 years. This is my first move outside downtown. And I must say that I am enjoying my stay. About the apartment: Location: Awesome location. Just right off the interstate. You can find fitness club, Walgreens, gas stations (4 of them), sub way, Denny’s, Pick and Save, Cousin’s Sub, McDonald's etc in 5 mins driving distance. Maintenance: Maintenance is good also. I just had call the maintenance once immediately after I moved in. They sent the maintenance guy on the next day itself who fixed the issue with the dishwasher on the single visit. Office Staff: Office Staffs are friendly and good at what they are doing. They were able to clarify all my doubts before move in and co-operated with me with all the paper works. Landscaping: Landscaping is also good I would say. There is grass all over the lawn and trees placed at right locations. The only problem is that some of the trees are blocking a few balcony’s which you should check before finalizing the apartment. Building Exterior: It is okay - nothing fancy. Move-in Condition: The apartment was in very good condition when I moved in. The carpet and everything was clean. All the light fittings and electrical equipments were running fine except the dishwasher. They fixed it within a day after I informed them. Parking: They allow 2 car parking space for every apartment. There is no assigned parking space or closed parking lot. This is probably the biggest negative point for me. I would have paid a little extra per month for a covered parking space. Recreational Facilities: They have a nice and well maintained swimming pool. They have several grilling pit around the apartments for the residents to use. No fitness center is there - but you will find nice fitness centers just outside the apartment complex. Value for Money: A little on the higher side as per my option.
Tanglewood Apartments in Oak Creek, WI are amazing! Not only are they located less than 1 minute from major I-94 onramp Ryan Road (with a Park and Ride for carpooling, Summerfest busing, and other Milwaukee events), but they are also surrounded by many businesses within walking distance. Including, but not limited to Pick N Save, Dunkin' Donuts, Cousins, Subway, 3 gas stations, Starbucks, Denny's, Perkins, Arby's, KFC, McDonalds and Wendy's. They are also surround by the growing city of Oak Creek and many stores and shops that are popular with the public. Such as Target, Kohl's, BW3s, Water Street Brewery, TJ Maxx, etc. Tanglewood does an awesome job building community within the residents by having free monthly events at the Club House. They also have great amenities like a pool, a catch and release fishing pond, horse shoes and garden plots. I would recommend these apartments to anyone looking to rent!
