First developed in 1891 as a streetcar suburb, Hyde Park has become one of the most densely-populated areas in the city. With many historic buildings in its two historic districts, the neighborhood enjoys a charming beauty, with sites like the Queen Anne style Col. Monroe M. Shipe House and the Elisabet Ney Museum.
Hyde Park sits directly north of the University of Texas at Austin, with I-35 running along the eastern border. On the west side, residents have easy access to a variety of shops, including Central Market, and the Heart Hospital of Austin. The university is home to four museums, including the Blanton Museum of Art. Sports fans can cheer on the Longhorns at nearby the Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.

Property Ratings at Tanglewood North Apartments
My best friend referred me to Tanglewood last year and I’ve been happy ever since. It truly feels like home and I love the string lights in the courtyards. I look forward to living here for many more years to come. Also having two 9 foot pools makes Texas Summers not so dreadful.
Awesome location, great pools, beautiful property
One of the best locations in Austin for doing just about anything. Centrallized and right off 35 / 183. Very cozy & clean pool and if you ever need anything, they have a very sweet & accomodating property manager. Rent is fairly priced and comes with free AC/Heat. Can't beat it!
Cheap, run down, old apartment complex. You get what you pay for. I lived here for one year and my lease just ended in July. Constant problems throughout the entire year. A crazy amount of turnover of managers and staff so you do not get any consistency from the folks there at the office. Extremely old building invested with german cockroaches. Water would be turned off what seemed like once a week. Dishwasher had sewage that would back up into it. Prior to moving in the staff just painted over literally everything - dirt, hair, trash, rust, without making an effort to clean and fix things. The management communicated by paper on doors ways, rather than simply emailing important updates. Maintenance would never come when requested to fix things and if they did, fifty percent of the time they would not fix the problem. Out dated air condition system that either blew cold or hot air with no control over the thermostat. For the last month there the entire complex did not have gas so we were literally unable to cook our own food. No compensation offered either for the inconvenience or cost of having to eat out.
There was a constant bug problem, the water is shut off for a few hours at least every two weeks for repairs, and upon my move out there had been no gas at the apartment (which is necessary for cooking on the gas stove and oven) for three and a half weeks with no compensation for the severe inconvenience. The complex is so old the windows don't shut all the way so you not only does sound travel in but summer heat and winter cold do as well. There is no fan in the bathroom, the vent only pushes air in which left our bathroom smelling terrible no matter how often we cleaned. It is a decent price, conveintly located, well lit, and has a nice pool but I feel like that doesn't make up for the problems this dated complex has.
I really enjoyed living at this apartment complex. The management and staff are always friendly and willing to help. I have had minimal problems with my unit, however when problems did arise the maintenance staff were always quick to respond and fix my things. Another great thing about Tanglewood is that there is a 24 hour HEB about 5 minute drive or a 10 minute walk. If you're a UT Austin student, like I am, the shuttle is very convenient. It's directly across from tanglewood, so getting to school is easy and fast. It's relatively cheaper living here than in many Hyde park apartment complexes, where rent is surging. I highly recommend this place.
