Property Ratings at Tempe Vista Apartments
Staff is great and everything is nice it’s quiet and I love it
I had an apartment here for 8 months and for the last 3 months there was a leak in my hallway ceiling that was never fixed properly. Eventually, my entire apartment was flooded except for about 3/4 of the bedroom. I was then given a different apartment that I was told I did not need to do a walkthrough because they had already done it. Went to move in and smelled heavily of mold and big water stain on the living room ceiling. I spent all my money on the aprtment rent, movers, and uhaul truck. Had to get storage unit also because can't live in this apartment. Manager will not pay my moving expenses that it cost to move in. They came into the aprtment and sprayed what smelled like a can of air freshener and told me 'what do I expect, the apartment is 50 years old.' Now I have paid $2700 to live here and I can't live here. I am living in a hotel and trying to find somewhere else to move to with the remaining money I have left. Very poor business practice - I feel like I just got scammed and this could very well leave me homeless. Avoid this place at all costs. And whatever you do, don't let them tell you that you don't need to do a walkthrough. That's a big red flag.
This is a terrible complex, whatever you do, do not rent here. The hot water is shut down for a day almost every week and recently there’s been problems with COX and the AC units. The apartments are extremely overpriced. None of them are worth more than a grand per month. I feel robbed every time I pay rent. It makes me sick what they are doing to people. I don’t know how the owners sleep at night.
When I first moved in everything was good I was happy seemed like a nice place then things starting breaking down leaks I’ve have had the same leak for over 2 months I report it once a week they send someone but never do anything about it they make you get an SRP box but still charge you for light and they charge for air conditioning you even have to pay for parking and even tho you are all ready paying a lot and charging you for trash they have you mandatory pay extra to someone pick up the trash at your house and they don’t even pick it up this place is just awful don’t believe anything they said it’s 11/2018 and I can’t wait for my lease to end the staff is just lazy and don’t like doing their job they have money to remodel but don’t have money to fix everything that’s broken worst place ever
This is hands down the worst apartments I have ever lived in! I've been here 3 years and can't wait to leave. Aside from having multiple managers this place just acquired new owners and management who have been worse than all 5 of the previous. Without going into great detail I've had everything happen here from being left in the summer heat with no a/c for 11 days (which is not legal) and having to acquire an attorney to make them compensate me for not only my rental days but for medical bills as the result of a severe asthma attack as a direct result of the heat. I've had my car towed as inoperable when it worked perfectly fine but was pulled in backwards and wasn't driven over a long weekend. Long story very short...save your time...your money...your frustration...your energy and don't move to Tempe Vista Apartments!!! You will be taking the apartment of one of the many people who have seen this place for the garbage it is and have moved on! Hopefully you will be taking my apartment soon too!!! I would give them a 0 if that were an option!!! TERRIBLE TERRIBLE PLACE TO LIVE!!!!
The short version: You will not get your security deposit back. The management is not helpful and is not good at doing their job. The grounds had construction debris laying around for months. We had laundry stolen twice. More detail: After two years at Tempe Vista, we spent three days cleaning our apartment from top to bottom, this place looked better than it did when we moved in. We still got charged $50 for a carpet clean that we already had done, $60 for a "light clean" of the apartment, which there is no way that was necessary, and $80 for "touch up paint". The apartment was clean, and any paint issues should have been covered under "normal wear and tear" because there were no large scratches or scuffs on the walls. The grounds around our apartment had large piles of dirt, rocks, and wood sitting around for months at a time, from where they must have been working on one of the buildings and just decided to leave the entire place looking like a construction zone. The office was always understaffed, and the people working there were not knowledgable and were not good at doing their job. When we moved out, we paid our move out fees in full, and then got a call from a collections agency a couple days later. We were told that Tempe Vista said they had not received our move out payment. When we called the apartment complex to get it cleared up, they said "oops yeah we see that you did pay it". So we were sent to collections because they can't do their job. We had laundry stolen from the community laundry room on two occasions. When we reported this to the management, they did nothing. We saw three different management companies take over the property within the two years that we lived there. The maintenance staff was polite, but there weren't enough of them to keep up with the work. If you need a cheap place to stay, these apartments are pretty large for the price, and as long as you can deal with kids running around and hearing a bit of noise from your neighbor, old buildings, hot water being shut off regularly, and a few power outages, the average day is ok at Tempe Vista. Just don't expect to get any of your deposit back when you move out, because no matter how much you clean, you will not get it (unless you want to take them to small claims court). If you can afford a nicer place, I would not recommend Tempe Vista.
I am a last year college student at ASU and have lived at Tempe Vista for the past 10 months and have absolutely enjoyed my time living here. The peaceful friendly environment is what has motivated me to refer friends to live here. The friendly staff and clean landscaping has made the experience refreshing. As a student it is important to live somewhere peaceful and quiet in order to succeed in school and Tempe Vista and their staff has helped me be a successful student this last year of mine and that is why I plan on staying an extra year before venturing of into the adult world.
Tempe Vista has been my first real apartment since I graduated from ASU. It has been a good home for me and my 65 pound dog. It's in an ideal location, and has easy highway access. For being a single young female, I feel quite safe in this neighborhood. It's a quiet complex. I haven't had any issues with crazy loud noises. The walls are thin though, so someone's I can hear my upstairs neighbors TV and music. The apartment itself is adorable. It's spacious and has a mini backyard area. The one bedroom is more than enough for me and my dog. The laundry facility is communal which sucks. The washers are small and the dryers don't quite dry everything in the first go around. Plus you have to pay a small fee to obtain a laundry money card from the front office. I find it easier and cheaper to go to my moms for laundry or even the local laundry mats. I think think the prize for the bedroom is alright. I wish it was a bit cheaper, but who doesn't? You pay part of your utilities through Tempe Vista. They send you a monthly bill with you water, sewage, gas, and AC. Then on top of that you still have to pay electric and cable/ internet with your individual provider. It can be a bit pricey. Overall though, I would recommended this apartment as a young adult. Just be aware that it can be a bit pricey.
location is wonderful. Community is lovely. I feel so safe and plus my kids are happy here too
The grounds are well kept, and maintenance requests are completed within 24 hours. The apartments are super spacious too, which is great.
I've been a resident of TV for just over a month and have absolutely loved every minute of it. Their staff are so helpful and any time I needed something fixed or checked out they took care of it quickly. The biggest thing was that my balcony and front doors we're in desperate need of weather stripping as the late AZ afternoons made it hard to cool the place down and within 24 hrs it was taken care of. Major props TV!
