Property Ratings at Terano Apartment Homes
Stay away! Nonresponsive maintenance. I reported in September that the ceiling leaked---completely caved in in March (6 months later). Terrible property manager. Four property managers in the last year with zero continuity. This current property manager just makes it up as she goes along. Previous property manager and assistant property manager told me that I would get my entire deposit back with if I met certain conditions--I met those conditions (IN WRITING!) but the new property manager won't honor the previous property manager's promise and they kept my deposit and billed me thousands more rather than giving me the promised deposit plus interest. And now they're threatening me with collections. I paid rent in full on the 1st (not 5th, 4th, 3rd, or even 2nd!) every single month; I was clean and quiet; and I left the unit in immaculate condition when I moved out. Model tenant, but no appreciation. Spare yourself the drama---stay away.
Id give it a negative star if i could! We moved in over 3 years ago..initailly think were ok ..building was new..BUT After one year Uncleaned dog poop in hallways and other food items..for weeks Staff initially was ok but now are just not helpful and inexperienced at simple tasks Appliances fail constantly Rentcafe wipes out profiles and will charge yiu rent even after you move out..beware!!!!!! Pest infestation with roaches Noisy Just stay away
I regret renewing my lease and I'm hoping to get out of it. All the professionals have left (Mozart and Stefanie were amazing--smart, competent, responsive, friendly and helpful) and they're replaced with staff who are unhelpful and belligerent bordering on hostile. I've lived here for a year and a half and loved it when Mozart and Stefanie were there. Now I resent it. They make residents feel like we're an inconvenience--like we are NOT the reason they're there. We pay for package services--packages small enough to fit in a locker are fine, but they return large packages to sender if you can't retrieve them within 7days from a locked room that only a staff member can unlock. But the office closes before I get home and is understaffed on weekends--and often empty because they're showing units. So good luck. I can't wait to move.
I have lived here coming up on two years, I highly doubt I will be renewing my lease. The property is described as "up-scale" and I am still trying to figure out how? For a new building it is starting to look run down fairly quickly. As other residents have mentioned, here are the current issues: 1. Pets - The pets are a huge problem. More so the pet owners. The poop and pee in the stairwells, the hallways, and around the property is out of control. The property management sent out one (1) email regarding the cleaning up after your pets issue, however, that has not deterred pet owners from treating the inside of the building as their pet's personal bathroom. Its disturbing at this point that the property management has not even considered shampooing the main hallways or stairways in the 2 years that I have lived here. When it gets warm outside the smell of pee is overwhelming . Not sure how pee and poop tie into "upscale" living but lets continue... 2. Cleanliness - The hallways and stairways smell like pee, for the love of sanity and my nose, PLEASE pay a service to shampoo the carpets in the hallways and the carpet in the stairwells. The same streaks (left by someones pet I am sure) has been in the hallway for TWO YEARS. The recycle room and the trash room have stains from the beginning of time - do those rooms get cleaned? Speaking of the trash room - it is possible to get residents to actually put their trash down the chutes versus just leaving it in the room? Asking for a friend. 3. Packages/Mail - Getting your packages is like playing Russian Roulette, 3 out of 5 times you well get your package, the other times they tend to disappear into the ether never to be seen again. Your better off renting a PO box. 4. Property Management - Clueless. Not much more needs to be said there. They tend to seldom have a solution to any issue, so there is that. Example the call in box in the front to give guest access HAS NEVER WORKED since I have been here. NEVER worked. If you anyone comes to see you, you will have to go downstairs to get them. The quality of the service and the building has gone down (significantly). I am just going to make the assumption its from the new owners. I am still trying to find the "upscale" living that is reflected in my rent but not in the actual property.
I wanted to wait about a month before writing a review, just incase it was too good to be true. We are very happy calling the Terano our home. We found the apartment selection process to be smooth and the leasing associate Ashely was very helpful. Our move in was a bit challenging because our unit was the complete opposite side of the building as the loading dock, but Mozart was able to suggest an alternative route for us which we appreciated. Within the first month the apartment and building immediately began to feel like home. We feel safe and the building is clean, all maintenance requests were completed in a timely and professional manner. Most tenants have been friendly and there is a great dog community! We enjoyed participating in the community event in the lounge. We have had very pleasant interactions with Stefanie the Community Manager and appreciate how she goes above and beyond for the residents
The staff are incredibly rude, they arent there when they are supposed to be, the building is "fake nice" with the dry wall falling off the walls and they steal your money when you move out and bully you as a big company.
The first year was very good but now all sorts of problems are coming out of the woodwork. Multiple "new" appliances breaking down weekly with bandaid solutions that don't last, air conditioning failing, NO HOT WATER FOR ALMOST A WEEK, a front desk with a main phone line which is frequently broken, lots of middle of the night fire alarms and routinely finding dog poop on the stairwell -- uncleaned for weeks. There's been a change in ownership and since then things have been going steadily downhill. Neighbors we used see, many of them have moved out. No one seems to stay very long and occupancy seems down. We have considered moving on sooner, ourselves. Consider elsewhere to get more for your rent money. Spend your rent money elsewhere. This place is going down the tubes.
When first moving into the building, I was very pleased with the overall experience. Of course we were some of the first tenants in this building, it was obvious that there were some bugs that needed to be worked out in the system (alarms going off, amenities not up and running, etc), but the office staff seemed to communicate and show compassion through the process. I was a bit frustrated that we were paying for parking, yet the gates were not secured for at least the first 6 months of the lease. And that there is a fee required to receive your packages, although minimal, it should be included in the move-in fee, or "amenities" fee. BUT I must say there has been a decline in the quality of customer service and leasing office staff since first arriving at The Terano. Initially the office stay seemed pleasant and approachable, and competent. I can't say the same for the current staff. The interactions over the past few months have been, lack luster. Responses to emails, being over charged for rent, in person interaction and an overall failure to put the tenants first. You expect to feel valued when you pay a substantial amount of money for rent, which in the beginning I did, but those days are gone. I've found the current assistant office manager to lack confidence and knowledge of the information related to tenant needs. I honestly don't trust what he says, seems to just tell you what you want to hear, or blame someone else, instead of dealing with the issue or provided backed knowledge. If I had to do it all over again, I would have selected a different property to live at. I just simply expected more.
Living here has been a complete inconvenience since day one. For starters, the fire alarms go off almost every other week. They are always testing them or someone pulls them at 4AM. The elevators are sooooo sloooooow. The blue and lime green hallways are dreadful. The floors and walls are so thin that you can hear every little move that your neighbors make. The parking garage is difficult to get an SUV through because it is poorly designed. You can barely see when driving around the corners of the garage. The people in the management office are completely incompetent. On my final month of renting here they did not update my account to reflect the partial rent that I owed so I had to reach out to them and ask what I was supposed to pay. They system double charged me for the full amount as well as my partial payment because even after calling to remind them to update, they still didn't update the system. A complete mess from beginning to end.
Upscale, down to earth! This is an amazing place to live, full of premier amenities. Full sized gym, game room with billiards, shuffleboard, foosball, poker table, flat-screen televisions, catering kitchen, and bar. Walk, jog, or run the Metro is right next door. Plank flooring in living room and kitchen, and airy 9-foot ceilings. The building is eco friendly which is a huge plus. Urban convenience, meet nature’s serenity.
Awesome building, and great community. The metro is a quick walk around the corner, yet you dont really hear it at all. I've been in here from the second week they open the doors. Its close to everything, a bit residential, with a bit of city life. Food, malls, and hsitoric district of Rockville is one stop away! It's the best of both worlds!
Pros: Dog grooming center and bicycle maintenance center always kept up. Near-complete gym with squat rack, punching bag, lots of cardio equipment, free weights, and nautilus equipment. Gym has indoor/outdoor access, so in the winter and rain you don't need to bundle up and put on rubbers. Within walking distance to the Twinbrook metro stop (red line), retail on the first floor (including a nice sushi joint open until 11p). Designated indoor loading docks can accommodate even the biggest of moving trucks. Lots of elevators and great controlled access. Automated package concierge and 24 hr mailbox access makes getting packages a cinch. Lots of parking and interior is very quiet and clean. Staff is very helpful and repairs are usually fixed the same/next day. Recycling/trash is right down the hall, and the dog park is clean and nicely kept. Could be better: First floor retail needs more dining, like a bakery, coffee shop, or sports bar. Other than that, the apartments are great.
The terano is a great place to live in, the amenities are great the lounge room is very nice. the pool is kind of small but nice its easy to watch my kids. The maintenance are very realiable and fast responds. The leasing agents are nice and friendly but sometimes they kind forget to call you back when they say they will call you back i guess maybe there very busy with all the people trying to move in but over all the area and the building are very nice and we thank the leasing office for providing services to the present and future residents.
