Property Ratings at Terrace Apartments
I have lived here for over a year. I like the place. The hallways are clean. Laundry in my building. I have a storage unit in the basement. My apartment is huge compared to where i have lived elsewhere. Utilities are reasonable. Management has been normal. I filled out a maintenance request a couple of times over my time here and they took care of it right away.
I'm not sure why the reviews on this apartment are THIS bad, to be honest. There's an element of truth to these reviews, but it's not the worst place, esp. for the money. My husband and I have lived here for 3 years, the first year renting a 1 bedroom. We didn't have any complaints about that apartment, besides the fact that maintenance wasn't the fastest. Now for the past 2 years we have been living in a different building in a 2 bedroom that was "remodeled." Which means they replaced the kitchen cabinets with the cheapest ones they could find and retiled the bathroom. Which was a very half-way job. Our experience has been ok. Not amazing, but again, it's one of the cheapest places around here. Maintenance is again not the fastest at responding and when they do, they are not the friendliest. They don't keep the building as clean as they need to. There's always dirt and grime in the basement, it just feels gross down there. I only hear them vacuum out the hallway like every 2 weeks when it really needs to be way more often, especially since the building we are in is what they call their "Office," so the doors to the building are always open and unlocked so anyone can get in. It's not an office, just so you know. They have a literal closet downstairs where they have a mailbox for rent checks and a shelf for applications. There's never anyone from management her at this "office," you have to call them to talk. I will say, the hot water does tend to go pretty fast. I can only get through washing my dishes before it's cold, and you can tell if someone is using it for laundry or a shower, etc. I actually do my laundry elsewhere because of these things and the fact that the washers and dryers are so, so bad. They barely wash our clothes and the dryers take forever to actually dry. Not worth wasting my money to get semi clean clothes that are still damp after 2 $1.50 cycles in the dryer, when I could go to the laundromat down the road and spend slightly more to get my clothes actually clean. At Terrace, there's four buildings all together and only two dumpsters which means it gets filled pretty fast. I wouldn't say there's garbage EVERYWHERE, but there's definitely some overflow sometimes. They need to fix that.
I'm not sure who wrote the only positive review, but I assume it was a member of management. I've lived here for two years and this place is horrible. I was told the building was going to be secured within two months, and after two years I was just told that because the applications are in my building they can't (or won't) secure the building. Now the people from the complex next door are coming in to do their laundry, so we run out of hot water. Not to mention they steal stuff from the lobby. Management is non-existent, as is maintenance. You'll wait at least two months for anything to be done, if you're lucky. DO NOT RENT HERE!!!
I have lived at Terrace Apartments for 2 years. Since new management has taken over, they have had to deal with a lot, and have done an excellent job. The previous comments must have been from a disgruntled neighbor who is used to bad management.
This place is NOT good. Old. Dirty. Trash everywhere. Smells like smoke. Cigarette butts all over. Apartments old and worn out. Noisy. No manager on site. Laundry area dirty. Storage area filthy. No response to any maintenance request. No manager on site. Police here all the time for disputes. You get what you pay for. YIKES!!!!!
Please do NOT consider this apartment complex. Go somewhere else so you are not stuck for a year. This place is NOT worth it. I agree with the other people's comments. Everything is true.
RUN...don' walk AWAY as fast as you CAN!! The apartments are AWFUL!!! Buildings VERY old and falling apart. Walls are paper thin as are the floors (ceilings). You WILL hear EVERYTHING from the people around you. If you live downstairs, you WILL hear every foot step day and night. You will also hear everyone in the hallways. There is a front door and back door to each building, which are not locked, so anyone can walk in whenever they choose. Water is included, but hot water runs out quickly. There is a storage bin downstairs, which is wired sided, floors are filthy and gross. Management and maintenance are not on site. There is a phone number to call, but the mailbox is ALWAYS full. So, if you have a problem, good luck with that. Management will tell you anything to get you to sign a lease, but will never follow up with any problems or concerns, even if you call and leave a message. Garbage and cigarette butts are thrown all over the lawn. Hallways smell of smoke. There is only one dumpster for the entire complex, which gets filled quickly, so garbage is everywhere. RUN as fast as you can would be my suggestion.
RUN the other way!!!! These apartments are HORRIBLE!!!! VERY old buildings, walls thin, floors super thin…you will hear EVERYTHING from EVERY neighbor. If you live downstairs, be prepared to hear EVERY creek. HORRIBLE!!! If you live upstairs….same. Water is included, but you will run out of hot water quickly. Management is not on site, neither is maintenance. If you have a problem, there is a phone number to call, but the mailbox is ALWAYS full !!! So good luck with anything you may need. The management will tell you whatever you want to hear to get you to sign a year's lease and then will NEVER follow through with anything you may need. Be prepared….things fall apart daily !!!! PLEASE go look elsewhere and DON'T even consider this place. It should be torn down. The only way to help a potential resident is to warn you as LOUD as I can…..RUN, as fast as you can, as FAR away from this place as possible. Just HORRIBLE!!!!!
WORST apartments. Buildings are old and not kept up at all. Any improvements are surface, on the outside and for show. Management is awful, not on premise, has no regard after you sign lease. Apartments are terrible as are the residence. Don't waste your money or time.
