Property Ratings at TGM Shadeland Station
I have lived here for a year now, I honestly don't have a single complaint. The Maintenance has been superb, it's fast and reliable I don't have to check up on my work orders or call them back to fix anything once they come the first time. The Staff is friendly while being very professional and they go above and beyond. They have events everything month so I get to meet my neighbors and have fun. I live on the first floor and I don't have issues of hearing the people above me or haven't had any noise complaints in the building im in. They added some great agility equipment in the dog park, I love they also provide dog bags at the office in cute holders that attach to your leash. I have just renewed my lease for another year! I love this place, it's a true gem that is tucked away and close to a grocery store, where I work and my favorite restaurants.
I really enjoyed living there. It was quiet and well kept. The maintenance and management was great. I had a lake front apartment for 3 years which I enjoyed very much. The only reason why I left was because of a job transfer, otherwise I would still be living there. The overall living experience of living at Shadeland Station was enjoyable.
My wife and I moved into Shadeland Station after owning our own home out of state. I got a job that relocated us to Indy, and we weren't able to sell our house, so owning another home was not an option for us. Our last rental situation involved roaches (enough said), so we weren't okay with renting again, but we felt like we had no choice. One of my new co-workers recommended Shadeland Station and in one visit, we were hooked. The overall premises were kept well, with a beautiful water fountain in the middle of the complex, and with obviously landscaped lawns and maintained buildings. There are a couple of kids' areas on site, as well as a public pool that is open much of the year. The complex is just off of Shadeland Avenue, giving easy access to many of the Castleton attractions, and it is close enough to a local college that many residents walk down the hill to school! The welcome center is quite nice, including a fitness room and a small meeting area, but none of those amenities are things I had not seen before. However, what really separated Shadeland Station to my wife and me is the staff. From the maintenance crew to the property manager, everyone is very friendly and eager to help with anything we need. There are frequent tenant appreciation events that offer cash, prizes, and free dinner just for attending! Even though there must be hundreds of residents in this complex, when I come to the welcome center, I am recognized by name. In fact, as a frequent Amazon shopper, I often pick up items at the welcome center and usually our welcome staff greets me immediately upon entry with my packages because they noticed me by my car in the parking lot! This may not seem like a big deal to many, but my wife and I were blown away by the attention to detail and by the level of care that our apartment staff shows in making us feel special. On almost every staff-sponsored event we go to, nearly everyone we talk to agrees with us that this is the best renting experience we have ever had. Our apartment itself was beautiful as it usually is before moving in, and it had a newly installed and very effective washer and dryer put in, but as most people know, an apartment is an apartment. Security is not the same as at a personal home, but SimpliSafe is a great solution if you are interested! Now that we have a child, we wish there were a 3-bedroom option available, but we love Shadeland Station enough that we want to stay here as long as we can!
Shadeland Station Apartments has been a great place to live. We have been here since September 2012. The staff is friendly. Maintenance responds quickly to issues. It is safe and quiet.
I have lived in multiple apartment complexes before recently buying my own home. I will not name any of my previous apartment places because this is NOT an attempt to get anyone to go to some other place. What this is an attempt to do is save someone else the HORRIBLE experience I had with this apartment complex. Let me say this. If you are moving in without a pet and don't plan on getting one. Most of this review will not apply to you and if you don't care about rude management then everything else with this place will be perfectly fine. Stop reading now. For the rest of you that plan on moving here with a pet please continue. DO NOT EVER EVER EVER live here if you are bringing a pet. I had a 2 1/2 year old dog whom was house broken when we moved in that i brought with me. I had NEVER had an issue with any of my past apartment complexes with this dog. This is my minor issue i had first. I got a letter explaining there was a complaint he was barking about something while we were gone and if this happened more we would be asked to remove the dog for the rest of our living there. We had noisy people above us that probably scared him to bark. We ended up really really watching him and this did not continue further. But I found this approach pretty drastic as we never had a neighbor or management mention this to us before the letter. NOW THIS IS THE PART WHERE I AM SAYING DO NO EVEN THINK ABOUT LIVING HERE WITH A DOG/CAT. We had a deposit up front. A pet deposit (apparently non refundable fee). A monthly pet fee on top of our rent. ALL of this was taken on moveout because we were told there was urine damage on the carpet. Our dog was house broken and had lived in apartments before with this never being an issue. We asked for photo proof even thinking okay maybe he had some accident we didn't see when we were gone or something. There was no pictures of any padding showing yellow stains or anything. There was a photo of a little black spotting by our door (caused by something besides pet and not severe) and a picture of what seemed like darker place in the carpet which was under where our couch would have been the whole time we lived there (this is the kind of carpet you push in a different direction and the lighting hits in different directions it will look darker or lighter). We attempted to talk with management about this whom at the time was brand new and didn't know us at all (Candice the manager before the new manager we dealt with was very personal and nice.. We had to start dealing with some new male manager whom was VERY VERY VERY rude to us). We were told that the carpet was disgusting and that this male manager would never live in such a place. I am a software developer and my wife is a nurse. For the most part we have nicer things and keep our place we live very clean. We never held parties in this apartment either. This was a total insult and handled very very inappropriately. Anyway.. I could go on for quite a long time about this place and our moveout, but will try to keep this readable and short. IF YOU HAVE PETS DO NOT LIVE HERE! IF YOU WANT APPROPRIATE MANAGEMENT DO NOT LIVE HERE! if you have no pets and do not plan on dealing with people in the office besides paying your rent, then this could be okay for you.
I just signed my 2nd renewal so I'm starting my 3rd year as a resident here at Shadeland Station. I actually work in the apartment industry for another company and could be saving 20% off my rent but I refuse to move out of Shadeland Station because I love it so much. I feel very safe walking alone around the community, don't really mind the geese/duck waste, personally and appreciate the lake views and fountains. We have at least one police officer that I know of who lives on site, close to my building, which is great. The complex got all new signage this year, which makes the place look more updated. The interiors are very nice with faux granite counters and black appliances and new light fixtures and light switches. I got new carpet when I moved in, which was a light tan color. The new color that they started putting in the apartments last year is a more textured darker pattern which I love. I have a 2 bedroom, 2 bath with w/d hookup which is perfect for me since I own my own w/d set. I believe they are now including w/d's in all apartments with hookups which adds to the value. For the one bedrooms without w/d's in unit, they have a small coin-op laundry room in each building common area for your use. I rarely see it in use in my building and it's right next to my apartment door. I do use the small fitness room on occasion, it's been recently painted which is nice. It has 2 treadmills, an elliptical and a stationary bike plus one multi-functional weight machine. My husband still keeps his gym membership since our little gym at Shadeland Station doesn't have free weights or some of the other things he needs but I appreciate that they have the room at all. The pool is really small, but I don't use it so that doesn't matter to me. They say they have free WI-FI at the gym but I can't see it as available on my smartphone, not sure what's up with that. Not a big deal, they have a flat screen TV with cable so that's what I watch. They have carports available which is nice, my only complaint is they won't let you add it for just the winter months and then remove it, you have to keep it on your entire lease from the date you add it. I think that's a corporate policy and not something the local office can amend. I also wish they had a pay rent online feature, but I hope that comes in the future. Parking can be a challenge at times, but if everyone had their guests park at the office when staying overnight, it wouldn't be. I believe they have plans to start towing parking violators once all the red tape is done. Overall I have no major complaints with living here. I've found the place to be quiet, safe, and comfortable. I do enjoy attending some of the resident events that the office staff throws and almost always win some sort of prize.
