Conroe is located in Montgomery County just north of Houston. Since Interstate 45 travels through Conroe and leads into Houston’s business district, residents prefer living in this suburban neighborhood and commuting to work.
It’s no secret that the cost of living in Conroe is lower than Houston. The city is attractive to many renters because of the reasonable commute times, and it’s only a seven-mile drive to Lake Conroe, a popular outdoor recreational area.
There’s a lot going on in the city – you just have to know where to look. Locals enjoy exploring the Sam Houston National Forest, which covers 163,000 acres of land and is the perfect place for camping or a scenic hike. After a lovely dinner at Red Brick Tavern, locals look forward to a musical at the Crighton Theatre on North Main Street. The Heritage Museum of Montgomery County is a great place to go and learn about the city’s evolution through the decades – and it is right next to Candy Cane Park.

Property Ratings at The Abbey At Conroe
These people are crooks! The old management did very shady things and it appears the new "management" has stepped in and followed. I lived there and fulfilled my obligations on my lease and then over a year later I see that they have reported me to the credit bureau. If you decide to rent here then the only advice that I will give you is to keep and document everything. Thankfully that is what I did and eventually it will all come to the surface and I will prevail. It is something that I should not be wasting my time on IF these people weren't crooked. They were forging documents when I was there and I witnessed this first hand and I have a feeling that is what the old management did to me and that is all the current staff can go by. Thankfully I have lots of proof on my end to get this mess cleaned up that they did!

I live in the "townhouse" which is really a loft since there is no door or closure to the upstairs, which is fine, but they couldn't even be honest in the marketing. Three weeks after moving in there was a hard freeze and my unit was flooded. Maintenance came by and said that I had the worst out of any of the units that they saw, and said they would be back to try to help clean up the water. I waited for hours while everyone else was taken care of. When I called to the office, I was hung up on, so I had to walk up there. I was met with anger from the staff in the office as if I was making their day harder by asking what was going to happen to my unit. They talked to me like I was stupid and basically ran me out of the office. When maintenance finally came by, they told me that it was my responsibility to handle the biohazard from their sewage backing up into my unit. The only repair I was offered was getting my flooring in my living room replaced, but my kitchen and half bath were completely ignored although they had the bulk of the water. My carpeted bottom step that was stuck in the water for hours was never checked. When the guys came to replace my flooring, they only ripped out the old and installed the new without cleaning anything, which trapped all the disgusting stuff underneath my floor where I can't possibly clean it up. I now have fungus growing in my baseboards due to them not being treated with any sort of biohazard chemicals. I have been telling them for months that I have an infestation in my apartment. I have shown them pictures, told them where I think the problem is coming from, and was made promises they never followed through with. I was told my fridge would be replaced because I have roaches living in it, and they only sent someone out to spray the machine instead of replacing it, thus sending the infestation further into my apartment. There are roaches living in the gaps left in my floor by a shotty install. They are only willing to do pest control on Wednesdays, and do not make any accommodations for extreme cases like mine, so if scheduling doesn't work out, tenants just get to live with the problem. Their way of handling things is by blatantly ignoring it and pretending problems don't exist, and when they are brought to their attention, tenants are met with disdain and outright disrespect. (These statements completely excludes the maintenance staff. They are all wonderful) There are many more but my review is too long

Dishonest leasing agents. I was told prior to paying an application fee that if my applicant was denied the $150 admin fee would be refunded and only charged the $50 application fee. Fallon knew I was helping someone find housing. Once the application was denied you cant get a call back. Then when you do hear back its reasons not disclosed originally. Leasing agents will tell you what ever you need to hear to apply to earn their commission. Good luck getting them to answer a phone call. Terrible dishonest management.

After reading the reviews I was really nervous about renting here but we still gave it a chance. We have been here since July and have a couple complains but not many complaints. Still a livable place. 1. Gate remote. We were charged $60+ for 2 gate remotes. Only ever received ONE and it NEVER worked. Thankfully only about a week later they changed the gate access to an app. Of course, they wouldn’t give us any type of refund for the ONE we had & it not working the entire time we had it. 2. Gym. As soon as we moved in within a week or 2 they shut down the gym for a remodel. It’s been closed for way too long and every time I drive by I don’t see anything being done to it. Plus we are still paying for something we can’t use. 3. COCKROACHES. BEWARE. This is my biggest complaint about this place. It is infested. They “spray” but it doesn’t help much. When I first moved in I would kill around 5 everyday. I have used bug smoke bombs TWO times now AND spray my own apartment 2-4 times a week & I am STILL finding cockroaches. I only find one every couple days now but imagine how bad they would be if I didn’t take these matters into my own hands & spray myself. If you want to move here be prepared to spray often. Other than that I have not had many issues with the complex. Pools are nice, people who live here are friendly and rent isn’t bad.

The management does not take the renters complaints as valid. The water is as of this month (August) almost $100 that is added to your rent. You don't know what you each renter used (water wise) because you are not given a bill with the usage written. They take every building and divide the water bill by how many renters are that building. They do not have meters. When the air conditioning goes out, they will not get anyone on it fast (even though some of the temps have been 104 degrees and up this summer). Management thinks it okay to not get on the problems. I have to have pest control out so many times that, because of roaches. When they don't come and you complain and get mad enough to scream, the management doesn't seem to think, that you should scream. They don't care because it is not happening to the front office. If they are going to rent with a contract, they by the same right they are obligated under the contract to make all repairs ( NO MATTER WHAT IS IT, IN A TIMELY FASHION). JUST DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DO NOT RENT HERE. I'M CONTACTING MY LAWYER ABOUT THIS MATTER TODAY.

Don’t live here. They don’t fix anything and if they do it’ll be months before they do. IF they don’t just close out the ticket

Roaches !! A/c overflow leaks(located in bathrooms), high water bills , hot water issues including no hot water at times, cable and internet is included but you will Have outages periodically, the bathrooms are small, I will take carpet over wooden floors due to roaches any day. Management do address issues and customer service is ok but it’s not worth it if you’re wanting to live comfortably, I will not renew my lease.

If you are reading this review and are interested in renting this apartment then you are exactly in the position I was 2 and a half years ago. I fell in love with the model apartment and figured this would be a perfect little home for my small family. Looks are very deceiving as we had so many issues that I would love to list for you. 1. High electric bill due to old insulated windows. There were cracks between the window and wall which probably was the reason my bill was almost $200 every month and still hot. 2. Bugs everywhere. Roaches and carpet Beatles along with spiders. A great variety of bugs no matter how clean you keep YOUR apartment. 3. Rude staff. They weren’t rude at first, though the office manager Delores always had an attitude. The staff started leaving probably due to management as attitude and the new people they hired are rude as can be. Especially Felicia. 4. Any issues that occur are due to negligence per manager Delores. So the air conditioner that never cools down, your fault. The drip from the ac unit onto our bathroom floor, our fault. 5. Terrible neighbors. Of course it’s apartment living but when your neighbors are loud and screaming at 1am don’t expect anything to be done. 6. Mold. We had black mold growing around the ceiling. Requested maintenance to come check it out and they said it wasn’t black mold and painted it. My brother then confirmed it was mold and so we were breathing this all in for years. 7. After hurricane Harvey we had water drip into our walls from next to the sliding glass door and a window which weren’t “fixed” until a month later. Long story short is, the apartment upgrades look alright and you think you’re getting a good price but it’s not worth it. You will regret this place until the end of your lease. They even removed their Public Facebook page due to all of the negative reviews. They have a Facebook user account page. They seriously need spend money on making their apartments live-able and safe instead of cheap upgrades. Also they need to work with their staffs attitude problem

There was a leak in my bedroom. Maintenance was called they came in and painted over it. We called again and they did the same thing. It took three times to get them out to fix it! There was mold in the 2nd bathroom! Almost covering the entire bathroom ceiling.. AC hardly blew air! They were called multiple times to come and fix it! Heat never came on! There’s a huge roach infestation. We had the orkin exterminator come out weekly it was so bad!! He did a “heavy extermination“ which was not heavy at all he did one pump in the kitchen cabinet over the sink and left! They wanted me to pay 180$ for pest control!! The management is rude and disrespectful to say the very least! I asked to speak to Deloris and she wouldn’t talk to me because it was five minutes before closing! When I signed my lease I was told I would get 25$ back for my remote. I moved out in March and didnt get my 25$ for my remote to enter the gate that never worked! I went up there and spoke to Felicia and she clapped her hands in my face saying that it was giving back and it wasn’t nor was it on my receipt! My car was hit in front of building 27 and they wouldn’t pull the cameras!! This places is trash! I don’t have one good thing to say!!
I had a easy move in and great assistance thanks to Krysten she was very helpful
Only one burner on the stove works, roach problem, toilet doesn’t flush properly and is constantly clogged. Parking spaces are too small.
I lived here for a year and about 2 months in I couldn't wait to leave. if you live on the top floor your a.c. will "not keep up" as it was explained to me by the maintenance man so my a.c. when it was over 100 °f outside it would only go down to about 80 and it is very uncomfortable. I had to call multiple times to get a leaky sink fixed. so when you're not paying for an insane water and electric bill you're driving around aimlessly for a place to park and if you find one you better hope it's not raining because the place turns into a swamp full of mud and dog fieces.
The newly renovated one bedroom town homes are to die for! When i saw these apartments I just couldn't believe that they were so nice. The wood floors are actually wood! the last apartment i lived at said they had wood floors but they were the fake-slap on adhesive 'wood' floors, so i was very impressed when i saw that these were good quality wood floors. The kitchen counters look VERY nice. It's very spacious too, we are having problems filling it up! Maintenance is very prompt and actually fixes the problems without just slapping a band-aid over it. Tomi in the office is the best. Very professional and personable. My boyfriend and I enjoy seeing her anytime we go to the office because we know that we are going to be taken care of. The location is really good. Everything is close by and The Woodlands isn't that far either. I love that it's gated. The grounds are actually being maintained very well. Overall, I'm very glad that we made the decision to move here and I can see all the work they've put into this place.
This place is a scam. My husband and I spent $105 to apply for their property, for them to tell me my husband had a criminal background, untrue. After we went through their investigation and found out their system was faulty and proved it wasn't my husband (we already knew that my husband is military) they cancelled my application. Without notification, waited 2 weeks to find out what was going on, filed an identity theft report because they scared us saying this was my husband... They took our money and cancelled us. People were hard to get ahold of. Do not waste your money on this place! Management and team members were extremely rude, and when I asked for corporates number they kept me on hold for 45 min and hung up on me.
I have my leas with the apartments for 18 month the ladys in the office are nice and helpful every time something comes up the maintenance are good every time there is something wrong they come right away the noise level at my building is so quiet and I've had a few problems with the water the cold water was always hot and it took them forever to fix it, exterminator only has came ones and just recently the apartments gave me a note that I had to pay 200 when I went to talk to them to see what was going on the lady was not even shore why I was being charged and just said that i still owe rent, when i payed ren 3 days befor it was due and after i showed her my reseat she then said that i still owe for the water bill so that kinda through me off
When I first started looking at apartments, this one really caught my eye. The way the interior was all fully redone, with the granite counters, faux hardwood floors, and carpeted bedrooms, it was gorgeous. And it was at an incredible price!!!! They made the process of finding and leasing the apartment a total breeze! The paperwork part was painless, and the customer service after moving in was as great as it was before i moved in! I plan on being here for quite a while, and atleast I know they will be accommodating!!
I lived in what was called "Stoneridge apartments" for a year. Then they upgraded them and changed the name to "The Abbey at Conroe" It is now gated. I love it here. It is quiet and the people who work here are very friendly. It is easy to get to the freeway and downtown Conroe. Highly recommend these apartments
This is a newly renovated complex; we have rented a two story condo at the abbey at conroe for the past nine months and we love it. Great floorplan with lots of space, hardwood floors and even a fireplace! My husband and I are newlyweds and found this to be a great place for us. The rent is a great deal, only complaint is that suddenlink is the only cable and Internet provider that offers service here.
Here at the Abbey we enjoy two pools, a gym, computer lounge, friendly maintaince crews and a lovely staff. Couple all that with upkept grass and hedges and newly renovated housing, you now have what we call home. They seem to be having a hard time at the moment with the gates but that's about the only problem.
the people very nice, the apartments are nice. I was looking for a place with shops and restaurants near by so not only does this place have all that plus has free breakfast!!
I have been living in this complex for 4-5 years now and I always have been fairly satisfied. Overall, I find it to be a pretty nice apt. being that it is freshly renovated. The space is good, though I think the rent a little too high. I like having a washer and dryer in my apt. and not forced to do my laundry in a common laundry room. Though just renovated to try to be more luxurious it was a rush job and there are some flaws and some of the materials are weak. But, I can live with it! :) I also like that there are plenty of places in walking distance to work, shop and bank. I don't have any pets, Thank God, but a lot of people do, and they have to pay pet fees. We also have 2 pools and a gym. So, I don't think it is a bad place considering some of other places in the area.
Let me start by saying that they were horribly renovated and it was not done professionally. The floor has gaps and so does the granite counter tops. The outlets are still really old and can't even hold a plug . The air conditioning is very loud so if you like watching tv in the living room good luck with that. At first the staff and management are very nice once you move in and your locked in they become so abrasive and rude both the assistant manager and leasing manager are both very rude and condescending
