Downtown Brooklyn is not only New York’s third-largest business district – it continues to grow and prosper into a pivotal education center. The cityscape around this community is largely made up of historic converted homes and state-of-the-art office buildings. In addition to NYU’s Tandon School of Engineering, New York City College of Technology and Long Island University – Brooklyn reside here.
Once students are done with classes for the day, many can be found enjoying the fresh air at Cadman Plaza Park. Points of interest (as well as means of travel) include the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges. Even with these nearby, locals prefer to commute using the NYC Subway.
Brooklyn’s admiration for art and culture doesn’t go unnoticed – it’s guaranteed you’ll find an entertainment venue that has either a play, band performance, or film viewing party some night during the workweek. When it comes to shopping, you’ll find that Fulton Street will meet your needs.

Property Ratings at The Addison
Great apartment units, overall very friendly staff. A couple not so friendly staff members and constant elevator issues. I would recommend the building at its price point

The good location is pet friendly, nice lobby and gym room. I like the subway station is right under the building. A lot of nice restaurants around here,

Hi, your wonderful feedback and rating mean a lot to us. Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review and for being a part of our community.
Friendly neighbors and a wonderful staff. Unfortunately, the Livingston building requires a significant update. The elevators stained, torn and typically not working properly. They let go of all their in house painters, so it takes a long time to have repair work done. The weekly hot water and water pressure issues don’t help.

I enjoy living here. I like that there is events for adults and kids. Biggest downside is the elevator on the livingston side is non functional often.

I cannot believe that it’s already going to be almost 1 year that I moved to The Addison! The best decision I made. I love that I’m literally only steps from the train, I’ve saved 20 minutes on my commute to work. I love that I don’t have to go outside to do laundry ?? and I have a gym in the building, what more can I ask for. I really love living here.

Hi, thank you so much for the positive review! We always strive to provide top quality service to every guest, and are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your experience here at The Addison!
Since moving in, staff has been nothing but helpful and kind. Facilities are great, elevators may be slow at times, but the building is quick to notify residents of any current maintenance issues. As for my apartment, nothing better than south facing sunlight during the chilly winter.
I like the neighborhood, it is friendly and so convenient to go anywhere. The subway is good, location is amazing. Coffee shops around here and I like it very much.
The Addison has very attentive staff and management, and often do cute decorations and events for holidays. I have really enjoyed living here. The reason I’m giving four stars instead of five is there is an additional monthly fee to use any facilities including the lounge and rent has increased significantly in just the year and a half I have been here. Overall, I have loved living at The Addison.
I just moved into 225 Schermerhorn St. on 10/16/23 and I am already thrilled with my cozy new apartment!! The building design is modern and accessible and the work staff is very professional and quick to respond to all of my newbie questions. I have definitely upgraded my living situation!
The staff is lovely and the building feels very safe, but the updates in the building are far and few between. The elevators have torn wallpaper and stained rugs, the hallways were finally updated but they don’t repair the dings in the paint after each move, so they already look worn instead of hosting events, they need to update and upkeep regularly.
Overall positive, lack of communication during the move in process was frustrating but staff have responded to any issues we’ve had promptly. Front desk staff is very kind and keeps everything very clean and pleasant in common areas.
Not a bad experience. It's been generally a good experience. My only knock against the building would be the elevators which are constantly having issues.
Good safety service, and a great location, I especially like the subway right next to the apartment. The coffee shops surrounding here, love it.
I enjoy living at Livingston/Schermerhorn. The Building provide Good service and it's a nice place to live and a great location to get to any place in Manhattan within 30 mins
Great location, friendly annd interesting mix of residents, and great building and management team. Interesting events in building to bring residents together for fun and good conversation.
Great move-in accommodations. Everyone at the Addison was helpful. We scheduled a time to use the elevator and when we misjudged how long it would take us, they were flexible
Good neighborhood , nice coffee and fantastic restaurants around here. Pets friendly neighborhood and convenient supermarket . Good location with subway and security
The Addison is a safe and secure building that has extremely helpful and friendly staff. The amenities are well-cared for and very clean. The new management team has updated the common spaces and hallways.
I love this community, there is so much to do and see, tons of places to eat. I’m right up the block for all the stores, target, Trader Joe’s, movie theater, and plenty of shopping! Very easy to get anywhere. If you need any transportation we are surrounded!
I'm very happy being here. The building is close to 12 different train stations (A,C,G,F,2,3,4,5,B,Q,N,R) within 4 block from the apartment building
They new management team is doing a wonderful job updating the building and creating a community environment! The staff are friendly, helpful and keep the building very clean.
I have lived here since 7/2022 and have been a happy tenant since. All the building amenities are maintained and management is quick to communicate any important announcements. The front desk is always nice and helpful and the maintenance and support staff are all very nice.
laundry costs too much... only 1 elevator goes to the laundry room so it takes a long time to access the laundry. I think laundry should be free given the price of rent
I love my community, everyone is friendly, love how they have events for everyone in the building. Quick to response when we have any question. I love that they keep us aware if there are any issues that need to be rectified.
The Addison is a wonderful place to live. The staff is attentive and kind. The super is incredibly responsive. The community activities are super cute! The only annoying thing is people who live with you who aren’t on the lease can’t utilize the amenities with the new system. Also the elevators often break down.
Everything is really nice so far he would love it here in this area. Plenty of things to do great location. I’ve been here for a few months now and I really enjoyed the environment around noon.
Good experience, nice neighborhood and restaurant. Shopping malls are close by and convenient. Walking friendly for everything here. Pet friendly
I love the neighborhood, easy access to all transportation, meet some wonderful folks in my building. And I love my studio apartment. Love the fact that there is an elevator and a laundry room!
I enjoy living here. The staff is nice and attentive. Major complaint is elevator shut downs are often. I like that there are so many events for residents to participate in.
This apartment recently acquired a cockroach/water bug problem in multiple units, which is quite alarming. Management has not done anything to help the tenants! Very disturbing knowing this problem will continue to spread.
