Property Ratings at The Alexio
the neighborhoods are good, just the usual unhoused people but this is near all sorts of restaurants and stuff. the bldg is okay, not maintained that well, windows are never cleaned, full of spiders and webs. the problem is the manager. for my 5 years this manager for the last 2 years is AWFUL!! there is no management, meaning she lets people into your apartment without approval which is against the housing authority. she is supposed to get your authorization FIRST to let workers or people into your apartment. she DOES NOT communicate anything at all. the rent increase happened, she had the notices but NEVER GAVE THEM TO TENANTS and then when they paid rent she returned all of their checks saying we didn't pay the right amount. and then gave the notices, which were dated 2 months prior. SHE HAD THE NOTICES FOR 2 MONTHS AND NEVER GAVE THEM TO THE TENANTS. she absolutely does not care about tenants at all. the previous manager was soooooooooo good. she was strict by the housing authority rules and laws but she was kind and fair and she would always call you to ask permission to come into your apt if there was work that had to be done, even if you gave a work order, she would email you to let you know that she received it and will update you. this manager rents to her friends and lets them rent out the apartments for airbnb, they pay her. tenants are disruptive and noisy and she could care less as long as no one is bothering her. she's mean and nasty. when you are paying high rents you want the management to at least be professional and respectful. please beware of renting here.
Lived there for more than 5 years and unfortunately seen this place completely go downhill. Apartment building is really old, things constantly fall apart and unfortunately it's inherently inhabited with cockroaches no matter how much times exterminator came they would come back, probably live inside the walls and travel through apartments. Walls are EXTREMELY thin. You will hear every sound neighbor makes, but worst if you encounter neighbors who are constantly having parties during the night no one will do anything about it. Management does not care and won't involve themselves, police will come and go because they can't enforce anything. Mail gets stolen all the time. Even packages left by the door got stolen. Pool is under cover and shaded no one uses it because it's impractical and useless. Their so called gym has 2 outdated machines. Consider zero amenities. The area became horrific after Covid, encampments are right outside your door steps. Even walking dog is unsafe. Helicopters constantly hovering so get used to noise from that too. There's been multiple events when I lived there including break in inside apartment which no one caught the culprit. Laundry room is constantly occupied, 5 times out of 10 I would not be able to find a free washer. The worst apartment building I lived and only stayed because of rent control and inheriting very cheap price, would never pay what they are charging now for that run down place. Pros: close by Runyon canyon, you can walk there, Ralph's is pretty close by, parking lot was fine and parking spot came for free with the apartment. And previous managers were pretty nice. Current one is the worst.
The current manager is horrible!!!! Previous manager Marcy was a sweetheart and everything was fixed asap! The current manager couldn’t even get the plumber to come down when the toilet got clogged up, claiming that the plumber was out of town… I had to wait for 3 days to get it fixed, which is insane!!! As far as I’m aware there’re plenty of plumbing companies in LA. Another maintenance request took 2 weeks to complete and only after a follow up and the maintenance made the issue even worse than before… horrible! also, the building is 40 years old, so everything always gets broken down here and there but the manager and the maintenance guy try to always blame the tenant for the issues. Ridiculous! If you want to make your living a total hell then move here. P.s. the rent is not cheap either, so it’s not like you’re getting what you paid for.
Horrible management. Noisy & thin walls. Not understanding about rent
I had a very good experience living at the Alexio in a 2br/2ba unit. The unit and amenities were well-maintained. The few times we had some kind of maintenance issue, it was quickly resolved. Marcy is a personable and attentive property manager. Wouldn't be leaving except had to downgrade due to partial job loss! Will miss this place, and I'd recommend it.
I lived here for a little over 1 year and it has been fantastic. We moved into a freshly renovated apartment with all brand new stainless steel appliances. Marcy was a pleasure to work with, She has always been easy to communicate with and very understanding. If you’re looking for a HUGE apartment in Hollywood at a great price, this is the place to check out.
Definitely not a smoke free building. Walking the halls occasionally you’ll smell weed if not cigarettes. Neighbors are overall nice some are full of themselves. They renovated the courtyard which is nice to look at. Convenient location. Like everywhere else in LA it’s overpriced. Pretty much a fee for everything pets, garage clicker and it’ll be mentioned at the 9th hour instead of upfront. Maintenance is so kind! Unfortunately you will see them often because something wrong will always be going on in the apartment. Management does what they do best looks out for the tenant but occasionally robotic. At the end of the day you’re a tenant not a friend.
Moved here alone when I was 19, Marcy the apartment manager is very nice and helpful. Don’t know why the other reviews are bashing her. I did get my full deposit back which I was not expecting. I had a studio with wood floors and newer appliances. Has garage parking below the building and is always easy to get in and out. Parking around the building is hard to find though. There are shared washers and dryers but only had one instance when I had to wait for a washer to be open. Neighbors generally keep to themselves, I lived next door to a very sweet old lady. Did have some noisier neighbors who would occasionally fight (probably an angry couple) but it wasn’t that big of a deal. The maintenance guy always took care of whatever was wrong usually by the next day if not by the end of the week. Not a bad place but the price is too high for what you get. I never had problems with bugs or heard of my neighbors having problems. Used the gym several times a week and the pool is nice but it is covered by the side of the building. Lived there for two years, not that great of a place but you could do much worse in that area.
If you're looking for a place near the center of hollywood, this is pretty great. I've been living here almost a year and I haven't had too many issues. I live on the 2nd floor and as long as I keep my screen door clothes, I get barely, if any, bugs. I occasionally hear some noise from upstairs, but nothing unbearable. My biggest issue has been the garbage disposal not working, even after the maintenance guy "fixed" it. But overall, for the price, location, garage, and great sized studio - I think it's pretty great. I can walk to a lot of places which is a huge plus being originally from NYC. Takes like 15 min walk to get to the walk of fame and some casting studios. All in all, good fit if you're realistic and not too picky.
Simply put: do NOT rent here. - If you have a noisy neighbor, don't expect any help from the manager or owners. - Rent goes up $250 when they haven't taken care of building and apartment issues. - There are still issues with bugs (roaches and ants). - We often received notices of having to leave the apartment for an entire day. Or to move our cars out the garage (there's almost no parking to find outside), with only a 1-day notice, otherwise pay a fine or get towed - during a work week. - The dryers don't dry... - The property manager (Marcy) seems nice at first. You'll soon find out she is lazy, scatterbrained and dishonest. She will not help you in any way unless she absolutely needs to. - The owners and manager are not forthcoming about what they provide. Be careful. - The poor maintenance guy is only in once or twice a week, and has too much to take care of in his time there (where is our increase in rent going ?!@) STAY AWAY.
THE MOST AWFUL PLACE. STAY AWAY. There's no order. Some apartment's fire alarm was going off for 2 hours and no one was doing anything about it for 2!! hours. Might as well have burned the entire place down. People living in the apartment complex are noisy, one apartment would have music on full volume every single night of every day of the week and even after multiple complaints nothing was done about it until the tenant causing the noise moved out. Some tenant threw lit cigarette down the trash chute and the entire place was in smoke, fire alarms going off, no one even taken care of making sure all pets and elderly were out. Roaches infestation was taken care by giving tenants one day notice to abandon the premises because the spray people are coming next day and threatened nice 50 dollars penalty if you somehow do not find a place to put yourself next day, during the week WHEN PEOPLE ARE WORKING. But you know one thing they are good at? Raising your rent every year. You pay insane money for NOTHING. You might as well die in this place from some fire that no one knew about.
This building is a little older. Has an indoor pool and small gym facility. Tandem Parking. Trash Service. Utilities are not included. However, the location is great! Close to Hollywood and West Hollywood. Walking distance to the grocery store and other small shops and restaurants.
