Property Ratings at The Alora Apartments
The trash around the dumpsters accumulates for days, there is no hot water, there are rats in every building.

I'm giving a zero for review...my apartment is full of mold and the office just wants to paint over it. I have a 2yr old daughter and they are not trying to listen or fix the problem...this management is worse than the last mngmt team that just left....this feels like the slums

I'll try to keep it short and sweet with a simple pro and cons concept. Let's begin with the pros 1. Great Location- for somebody like myself making btw 35-45k a yr I can't go wrong living here. Everything social gathering related is literally 5 miles away either on westimer or Richmond. To the galleria, prospect park, diablos, strip club, everything. Even the groceries store like heb, kroger's, and walmart are super close. Unfortunately the pros stop there and now the cons. 1. Odor- I can only speak my for apt but every time I came back from anywhere that same apt odor would just hit me at the door. Literally tried every air freshener known to man and that smell still wouldn't go away. 2. Unwanted pets- Yes it's true, THESE APTS HAVE ROACHES,RATS, and my personal favorite BED BUGS. When I first moved in the roaches were endless. But if you call the exterminator they will eventually seize. The rats were random, only killed 4 my entire stay but that's 4 too many. The biggest problem you will have is the beg bugs, they never go away. Your gonna have to wash your sheets no less than every 2 wks. Literally had a female over and say " I can't get comfortable feels like something biting me" smh 3. Parking- Your guest or better yet maybe even you will get towed at least once. These managers are so inconsistent with rules it's ridiculous. First you can't park near the leasing office, then it's not on the street, next it's only in the back. Best bet is to buy two parking passes just in case. 4. Management- If you signed your lease in Feb and by July there's a whole new staff; that's a clear sign of much these idiots love their job. Overall if you're just starting off like I was it's best to stick it out and save you some money so can live "comfortably" elsewhere, but if you're in dere need of a home and can handle these conditions then the best of luck to you.
This is the WORST apartment complex I have EVER lived in.AC going out a thousand times, poor management, poor maintenance, theft, roaches, ect. Endangering my cat with pest control and freon. After they busted the freon I had to have them come back and fix my AC unit a total of 6 times!!! At one time it was 85 degrees in my apartment for over 2 weeks making it absolutely unbearable to live like that. When I complained they just kept saying it would get taken care of and I kept receiving emails saying my work order was completed, when obviously it was still scorching hot in my apartment. Every time I filed a complaint it went unnoticed. Once my electricity went out and they didn't get it fixed for 5 days!I had my bench stolen from my second floor patio and when I wanted to file a complaint since they supposedly put cameras all over the apartment they told me it was MY FAULT for leaving stuff sitting outside my apartment. When I told them I didn't want maintenance in my apartment without me being present they told me that they wouldn't submit any of my work orders because they can't just send their maintenance whenever it's convenient for me, but when I told them that I refuse to have my stuff stolen and tampered with they told me that they only saw one complaint on my file. Because OBVIOUSLY they did not file any other complaint that I had submitted. And they told me that nobody else has complained, as if that statement was meant to disregard my complaint. It's not my fault other people don't care about their property as much as I do. When I complained about being out of AC for 2 weeks they just say "We understand, we're with you and we're trying to get it fixed." No you're NOT with me because it's 65 degrees in the office while I'm sitting in a pool of my own sweat in my apartment. There is crime happening all the time and all they do is send out notices telling us to be more careful at night. It's hard to be careful when none of the porch lights work for the buildings around you which make it easier for someone to attack you at night. I I would never ever ever recommend this apartment complex to anyone unless they really don't care about their own well being. Everyone in the office may seem professional, but it's all a facade because they really have no idea how to run an apartment complex and how to take care of their tenants. I've lived in 5 different apartment complexes since I've been in Houston and this one is by far the WORST.
"Dishonest, unprofessional, loud, run down" Dishonest- the bills are ridiculously high. they are shared between all the residents regardless of individual usage. But most importantly, the BILLING DATES are for 25 DAYS which means every 5 months, you have an extra bill for $160. Utility bills include following charges: water base charge, electricity, gas, pest control, sewer, sewer base, storm water drainage, trash, water, service fee. Unprofessional- management has changed at least twice within one year. Current management blames previous management and takes no ownership. They make up excuses to avoid helping you "its lunch time", "manager is gone", "I don't know", "they should have fixed that already". Overcharged us when moving out and took way too much time/effort to get it fixed. No responses to email even though ask to send via email. Lost $200 deposit AND never received final bill. Loud- neighboors play music extremely loud. Windows are thin so you hear whats going on outside all the time. Curtains, sealing windows, and fans are not enough to quiet the room. Run down- place is old and run down. nothing gets fixed because the problem is so big. holes in the ceiling, coachroach infestation, lose tiles, NO HOT WATER. Tried not to get personal with management but they were really adamant about making it personal. Threatening to call the collection agency when we never said we weren't paying? Threatening we have no legal basis when we never threatened to sue? Enough is enough. DO NOT RECOMMEND LIVING HERE. Its a joke but I dare you to try it out and write your own review.
I've lived in the Alora apartments for 5 months now. From day one there were numerous issues. The property is old and is essentially falling apart. Management has changed at least twice in the short time I've been there. Maintenance rarely comes the same day. For instance I requested to have my AC filter changed on 8/2/15 and the gentleman came and changed it on 8/14/15. Nearly 2 weeks! I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone!
