Property Ratings at The Amber at Greenbrier
They charge you for updated appliances even though the price is already raised on the listing. Huge roaches that they leave for weeks on end before calling pest control. Parking lot always full with visitors

Move in was terrible. The apartment was filthy and there was appliances broken like the washing machine. The light fixture in the bathroom had three different colors and was broken. Maintenance closed out my requests for 3 months. All the front office would say is they do not have enough employees. During this time plenty of work was being completed in the empty units. I was not shown the unit prior to move in and was in no way shape or form comparable to the catfish unit used.

I've been a resident since 2020. The security here is nonexistant. This week, someone slashed the tires on about a dozen cars in The Amber's parking lot, and all the main office did was send out a boilerplate email warning us not to store valuables in our car (as if that's applicable to the situation at all). It wasn't until that same vandal came back AGAIN the next night and slashed the tires on more than 80 cars that the main office started taking the issue seriously. But even then, they've only said they're going to increase neighborhood watch patrols for the next week or so, and haven't announced any long term security improvements. Every cabinet and bathroom mirror in my apartment is off-kilter as if someone drunk put them up. They're really shoddy quality too. The front part of my medicine cabinet fell off and maintenance just stapled it back into place. I moved in during the winter to find a broken water heater that took maintenance nearly a month to fix. I've been paying for amenities throughout pandemic lockdown that I haven't been able to use like the gym, pool and clubhouse. Oh, also the clubhouse closes at 6 pm during the week and is often closed without warning on the weekends, so even after it reopened it's nearly impossible to use anyway. This place is severely overpriced for what you get. Look elsewhere. I wish I did. I plan on moving out as soon as my lease is up.
Don't be fooled by the pictures of the new updated buildings and new units. They have a continual issue with roaches and roof rats. They don't take care of the breezeways which is filled with dirt and grime since they were built. They still have yet to update the buildings in the back of Ivystone. The management sucks and they don't respond to messages. Water bills are high and there's nothing you can do about it. Its the dirtiest apartment complex in Greenbrier. Keep it moving.

From the beginning, we were disappointed. I have nothing good to say about this place, except Kayla. She’s awesome and kind and incredibly helpful. Other than her, I hate this place. . The pool is tiny. It’s pathetic to have SO many units and such a tiny pool. And the lifeguards need to be trained more. The residents that cause problems at the pool are too much for the lifeguards and then they just close the pool for everyone. . There is no outdoor play area for kids. Just a ridiculous miniature slide in the office. And your kids can’t play outside your building because no one cleans up their dog poop. . When we moved in, our unit was not ready. (Even though our lease was signed months before our move in date.) I had to put in work orders to get the apartment FINISHED. I’m talking; holes in the screen door, large areas of walls needing to be painted, hinges needing to be replaced, popcorn ceiling coming off, extremely outdated areas of the kitchen as well as damage to the kitchen. . Before turning in my keys, I took pictures and video of my unit. Then I get a damaged letter saying there was trash, damage, etc. The manager wouldn’t even come out of her office to talk to me. She said corporate would deal with it. Well, corporate doesn’t respond to emails until you threaten them with nonpayment. (They’re also incredibly rude.) As I explained that there was ZERO damage to that unit, I was told that the manager was supposed to have handled my dispute. Three weeks later, everything was situated. (Because they were wrong and knew it.) . My $500 deposit was also apparently used as a “credit”. So I can’t get it returned. But having switched bank accounts, I can’t access my records from 2 years ago. One manager told me that I did pay it as a deposit and corporate says I didn’t. But I had no clarification either way; only a receipt for $500. I spent 15 months at the Amber and it was horrible. You’ll never get a straight answer to any question or concern because no one cares. This complex is a joke. (This is all I could write about because I don’t have enough room for more.)
The community and amenities are not worth the price. Communication from management is poor, problems aren't dealt with in a timely manner, and policies are seemingly randomly enforced. There have been several instances of community wide water cutoffs with little to no notice and no explanation, package delivery notices aren't sent out in a timely fashion, and we've had serious litter and dog poop problems on and off over the past year and a half. Issues with other tenants are also left unaddressed - like garbage piling up on the stairs or on the patio or neighbors consistently flooding their apartment above us and leaking large amounts of water into our apartment.

I live in one of the newer units at The Amber. Overall, living here has been okay. My unit is perfect and has plenty of space. I love the dark cabinets, granite countertops, and newer appliances in the kitchen and all the natural light. The 24 hour gym is really nice. I wish the business center in the club house was also open 24 hours. Other similar apartment complexes have 24-hour access to their business center and this one is only open when the leasing office is. Doesn't make sense that the business center is open during office hours, so I can rarely use it outside of my working hours if I want another place to do work. I like that you can submit a maintenance work order online, but every time I submit one, it takes weeks for it to be completed. The maintenance people always say they have to order parts, but taking 3 weeks to fix a fallen shower curtain is kind of ridiculous. My biggest complaint is with parking. Parking is impossible after 7pm and even earlier on the weekends. They gave out parking stickers to residents and said they will tow any parking violators, but I've barely seen them tow any cars. It's annoying that I have to worry about parking when I'm coming home late and I always have to park on the street. I wish there were reserved spots for residents. The Amber is a great location to everything and the new units are nice. However, I feel like it's pretty pricey for what you get.
If I could give this place a 0/5 stars, I would. Everything was fine when I moved there in the beginning, and then I was deployed and that is when everything changed. They got rid of everyone who was originally there and got all new staff. It all started in March, when I was deployed and my sister and mother in law would check on our place from time to time. They noticed things looked slightly different here and there, didn't really think much of it. Then one day they saw my purse was lodged underneath my closet door and was rummaged through. There would be potato chip crumbs all over the couches, and they thought that was strange. One day, my sister in law cleaned the parts of our Keurig and let them dry on the counter and a couple days later she returned and they were all on the floor. Finally, my mother in law set up a camera because she would tell the management and they really didn't care what she had to say. They made excuses saying I probably gave a key to one of my friends and they were hanging out there. Sure enough, the MAINTENANCE GUYS were hanging out in my apartment while I was deployed. Once again, mother in law told the management and they really didn't have much to say, just swept it under the rug. We came back and demanded out of the lease because I didn't even feel safe living there anymore. They said we would need to pay this and pay that to get out of it, but we told the head girl and she said she would let us out early, not penalty. Do you want to know why she let us out, no penalty? Because WE WERE NOT THE ONLY ONES THIS WAS HAPPENING TO. There were other cases of the same thing happening. Also, they changed the locks twice and the second time around, the strike plate was completely missing on the door, a 12 year old kid could kick the door open he wanted to. On a minor note, we left and cleaned the place spotless and they still charged us $300 for no reason.
I haven't had any complaints since I've moved in at Ivystone Apartments. It's currently going through construction and the name of the complex has been changed to The Amber at Greenbrier but nothing has changed when it comes to the staff. They've been very helpful since I initially moved in. So far the only problem I encountered in the apartment was the hot water not working but maintenance came out that same day and ever since I've had no issues. Overall the apartment itself, as well as the staff here have been more than accommodating, and I would definitely recommend living here.
This apartment was built in the 1970's, although it has some minor issues with the interior. Overall, this place is located in a good area, close to a firestation, police station, schools, groceries stores, shopping centers and close to work. Also, they are now renonativing to make the apartments look nicer and have more entertainment for the residents like building a clubhouse and new pool.
For this area and price point I expected to have a better looking apartment. I wanted to have plush carpet upgraded counters and cabinets. My appliances were from the 1930s and the refrigerator just went out a month ago. The parking lot has pot holes so big and they try and do a patch job that only last for two days but they are building a new club house but can't fix the parking lot or upgrade my apartment.....
I have lived here for about 5 years so far it's a very quite neighborhood I haven't had to complain about noisey neighbors or anything. The office staff is very friendly and maintenance are very quick to solve any problems that occur which is a plus! As far as the interior of the apartments they could use some upgrading especially the appliances and a few more cosmetic issues. I would recommend this apartment complex because of the Greenbrier location!
