Property Ratings at The American
Building is newish, but management is undesirable. Elevator, bathroom broken for months. We either had to walk down four flights of stairs, or spend 10 minutes walking to the other side of the building to take other elevator. Washer/dryer takes hours for one load and blows hot air into the apartment, resulting in a high air conditioning cost. Dishwasher broke and was told it would be weeks before they would even look at it. Utilities are extremely high. High tack-on fees for anything imaginable. No on-site security, loud parties in the common courtyard until late a night. Doors to balcony were very drafty and noisy. Looks pretty, but that's it. Management is unfriendly at best. Our family was very happy to leave.
Management’s response to many problems was unsatisfactory. There is dog poop that is constantly left on site. The elevator has been broke for two months and management has been less than helpful and understanding about how significant of an inconvenience this has been. The building used to be managed (by Vanessa) better when we initially moved in.
We lived here for 8 months. The original property manager, Vanessa, was great. It has gone downhill. Dog poop everywhere. Hot water is short-lived. Trash in the halls. Noisy tenants. Rude property management staff with Shamco. I would not recommend.
This is overall an amazing property. The apartments are well-designed and spacious. Love the kitchen, the large windows, and the huge closets. The open floor plan is great. Management at this building is also excellent. Only 2 complaints: the gym is poorly designed and it's impossible to find your packages in the mail room. First, the gym: there is no mirror anywhere in the gym, the lighting is super low at night, there are no gym mats, there's no stretching area, and there's no spray bottle to clean machines after use. It seems like it was designed by someone who has never set foot in a gym before. Second, it is so hard to find packages in the mail room - there are tons of packages there, and the building staff doesn't make sure they're on the correct shelves, nor do they write apartment numbers larger on the packages to help residents locate their parcels. Despite these 2 minor things, I'd highly recommend living in this building. It's a brand new building, and I'm sure they'll make improvements over time.
Apartment is nice. Not satisfied with on-site management’s response to a noise complaint.
I can't say enough great things about this place. My Fiance and I just moved in, and it is by far the nicest place we've ever lived. The property has the best amenities I've ever had and the staff that oversees the property is so helpful. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for a new place to live in this area.
First couple months in have been wonderful. Staff is super nice and helpful. Building is kept clean and apartments are beautiful.
Let me start by saying Ariana is amazing! I’ve never come across someone who cares more than her! She takes the time to explain and you see the passion she has for this building! I would love to rent here but the 1 bedroom prices are just to high! Yes the units are beautiful but they need to lower so good people can move in asap ! They should want people who will stay years ! Not in and out in 1 ! Long term is the most important. Hopefully they come to understand the current market and come down some ! Ready to move in !
