Hagerstown, MD, is the county seat of Washington County in the western region of the state and Maryland's 18th largest city. Covering an area of 12.91 square miles, the community has a population of 40,638 residents. The city is in close proximity to Frederick, Mount Airy and Westminster, MD. The state of Maryland was one of the country's original colonies, and settlers who arrived in 1736 in western Maryland, then considered a wilderness, were offered land at a very small cost as an enticement to persuade these newcomers to settle in this attractive region
The Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, located in Hagerstown's historic City Park, has been praised for being one of the leading small museums in the country. It offers a surprisingly broad variety of fine arts exhibitions for viewers of all ages, housing over 7,000 works of art representing worldwide artists and cultures. The Maryland Theatre is a central feature of the Arts and Entertainment district of the city.

Property Ratings at The Apartments at Oak Hill
There are huge disgusting cockroaches and the apartment always smells awful.
I lived here for an year, there is pros and cons live here Pros: cheap, management is good ( not great) but was able to address when things get serious, practically walkable around to some places in robinwood ( will advise drive or bike for safety) Cons: thin wall, practically can hear another family argument in another side of apartment and hear everything what they arguing over. Roachs is issues only if you don’t clean house regularly. Maintenance staff are seemingly easily get overwhelmed with simple requests. Don’t leave bike out middle of no where. Some of appliances are outdated ( again, this is cheap area, cheap monthly rent, not much of profit made)
I lived in the 80 building. The building is old, the pipes are old and very loud. Whenever the person upstairs turns on the water, I hear a screeching sound from the pipes that wakes me up even when I’m sleeping. I had roaches and mice. I couldn’t get rid of them, it took the management forever to come to my apartment and look at it. They came, checked and left without doing nothing. It’s cheap but I promise you’ll hate it here. It’s not even sanitary living with roaches and mice. The walls are too thin, you can hear everything next door.
We’ve lived here a couple of months months now and we love it here. Yes, it’s an older property but it’s well kept. The office staff goes our of their way to help and assist in anyway they can. Ms.Carol is the best, we love her. She’s the reason we decided to move here. The maintenance team does a great job too. Keep up the good work.
The list goes on as to why these apartments don't even deserve to be open honestly. These people are professional thieves, and the people working the from desk are no better. We've been living here for the past 4yrs, and with each hear it gets worst and worst. With floors cracking, you can literally feel the plywood under the carpet lifting as you walk. Appliances are outdated and not updated frequently. Maintenance guys are nice, buttttt it's like sending soldiers out to war with no weapons. Just duct tape, and a wrench. The front desk is less than professional. It's like you're talking to robots. No emotion, no remorse, no feelings, just "you get what you paid for, and have a great day". Recently I had my debit card information compromised, and there was about $400 that was taken out literally at noon as I write this. I call the front desk, and make them aware of the situation, I have the paperwork to prove it and what not. And the response I get from their wonderful representative is "well things like this happens to everyone all the time, bottom line is we need our rent, and we need to know when you can have it to us by?". If you do decide to move in here, I want to take the time to personally with you the best of luck, and just understand you are getting what you're paying for.
The "apartments" are so disgusting!! Management is so dishonest!!! Please do not move to them. If you do you will be "very" sorry. Pay a little more and get a nice apartment in Hagerstown, they do have a few.
This place is falling apart. The maintainence crew is very nice and accommodating but it seems they just can’t keep up with the state of the buildings. I wish I could share a photo of our carpet, air filter, and flooring in the kitchen and bathroom. It’s a mess. In a pinch, it’s a great place to stay short term. Not an ideal long term home.
Once i moved in, there where Roaches in my kitchen and my apartment look like a Hammy down the tub was rusted the door nobs was old and crappy, I had holes in my wall and my oven was rusted smh. The walls are too thin you can here people having conversations outside and when there in their homes. The only good thing is maintenance is always on time when you call and I don’t live in a bad neighborhood. Other then that it’s not really an ideal spot to stay at. I think that’s why it’s so cheap.
I will start off by saying that the rent here is fair and just what my wife and I needed when we were trying to find our first apartment. Made for very comfortable (financially) living. Having said that, we have been here for over a year and have had a ton of issues. First...the cockroaches. Our kitchen is absolutely infested. Doesn't matter how clean we are, they just keep crawling around. The maintenance team does monthly pest control sprays, where the tenants have to clear out ALL of their cabinets in both he kitchen and bathroom. Pain in the neck, plus they only give you a few days notice. And to top it all off, it hasn't worked once. No wonder, you're only spraying the cabinets. The roaches live in countless other spots of your apartment. No matter how many times they attempted to control the problem, we have had roaches since day one. Second...REALLY thin walls here. You hear everything. Which leads me to my next point. If you do move here, I will warn that if you end up in building 72, you will lose sleep. It's right next to the playground where the other tenants let their kids play past dark, sometimes past 10pm. Annoying when you have to get up early. I've asked them to keep it down, but never works. And it's right next to the Econolodge, where my wife and I have heard people fighting (verbal and physical), drunk people screaming and occasionally vomiting (yes, you can hear it), people blasting music in their cars...the list goes on. Don't get me wrong. The people at the leasing office and maintenance team are really nice...and seem to put out an attitude that seems like they care. But nothing gets done to improve the quality over here. Really all we want is no roaches. We can deal with an old, beat-up apartment, just not having roaches crawl across your counter every time you turn the light on. If you want cheap rent and have low standards for your apartment, then you will be satisfied. Otherwise, take the time and look elsewhere. Good luck.
I paid $125 to reserve an apartment for the following week and was told that it's totally refundable. plus it'll even go towards my rent down payment. found some place better and was then told that I needed to cancel 16 days prior to move-in date. I don't understand why they couldn't just be honest and upfront from the start!

Go somewhere else this place does not treat their tenants well and is nasty
we moved in and the roaches appeared that same evening. all shapes and sizes. all over the kirchen, walls, bathrooms.. we hadn't even unpacked yet. the apartment was also very worn down and there were alot of shady characters hanging around. the ladies in the leasing office were very dishonest about the vermin infestation and tried to blame us. it was so disgusting. don't rent here. it is awful!!

If you would like to speak to someone at our corporate office please feel free to contact us at 443-259-4900 or info @ hrehllc . com. Thank you and again my apologies. Stephanie
The location of my apartment is great because it still has a bit of a city feel even though I moved away from the DC area. It's a quick 5 minute drive away from historic downtown Hagerstown, and there are so many great stores, farmer's markets, bars, restaurants, parks and diverse people nearby. It's unbelievable how much less I pay in this area for a well-kept, pet friendly apartment complex with a pool, weight room and all utilities included. Monthly payments can easily be done online, there is 24/7 emergency maintenance, and unrestricted parking. PA, VA, WV are all within 30 minutes away, with easy access to I-70 and I-81. I also have the MARC train or Amtrak to visit family and friends back in the DC,MD,VA area. This has been a great starter place for young recent college grad! With great colleges and universities nearby like Hagerstown Community, Shenandoah and Shepherd, I can even continue graduate courses.
