Property Ratings at The Apartments at Tamar Meadow
The apartment was given to us in disgusting living conditions. The property team wouldn’t take accountability for their negligence having the apartment be unlivable. We had to get our kitchen floors replaced, laundry closet doors, almost all the blinds (some were not even on at all), water damage that was never fixed from previous tenant. They also will hit you with security deposit charges for basic wear and tear. The appliances are from the 80s and the dryers do not work or collect lint.
when my husband first moved in, we were happy with the apartment. as we moved all of our things in we realized that there is no storage space. No closets, nothing. 2 small closets ( 1 in each bedroom) and a SUPER SMALL PANTRY. if you want to live here just don’t have a lot of things because you won’t have any space. The management office also expects you to have NOTHING on your balcony. we had 0 kids when we moved in then got pregnant with 2 babies and since we have no space or storage we have been forced to place some of there toys on the balcony. well they sent us 2 letters within 6 months saying that we have to remove everything off the balcony because apparently it’s “in the lease”. We didn’t because honestly I felt like we pay rent every month on time I should be allowed to have whatever I need on my balcony as long as I am living here. we can’t have grills which doesn’t make since. also the pool in the summer is only open on like Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday from 2-6????? it’s literally the stupidest thing ever. who opens a pool at 2pm????? and the “gym” they show in the pictures with “all of the machines and equipment” is all a LIE. they have 1 old bike, an elliptical and a small bench. that is literally it! they talk about their amenities like they offer so much when in reality they don’t offer anything. There is a reason why so many units are vacant and they are offering incentives because everyone is leaving their property. the ONLY REASON we are still at our apartment is we are trying to buy but have to work on our credit just a little bit more then we are getting the F out of this place. The only thing we actually like is the fireplace we be have that is it. maintenance has always been good, always come fix whatever we need right away.
Do not move here. There are people drinking, smoking and doing drugs outside your door at all hours. Groups of people. Banging on walls and yelling and messing around. None of our appliances worked when we moved in. The smoke alarm and furnace filter hadn’t been changed in many many months. I had more than 10 maintenance requests my first month because the apartment had been neglected and not checked before I moved in. There was a bullet casing a block away at the bus stop. This is not a safe place.
Our apartment has exceeded expectations in terms of location, amenities, cleanliness and service. The grounds are beautifully maintained. It's quiet and peaceful most times. The trees which tower and surround most of the units shield off rain when it pours, and the view is so beautiful that we enjoy watching it from both the front porch and rear balcony. Storage space in the balcony is a plus.
March, 2022 On a hot evening in March of 2022 it was 86 degrees in my apartment so I turned on my heater/A. C. unit. It was malfunctioning . I reported it to the Leasing Office who reported it to the maintenance staff. They were here quickly to fix the unit. I have Respiratory issues and I need the A. C. to help me breath comfortably. Maintenance got the equipment needed and installed it right away. Thank you Maintenance for doing a great job and thank you Tamar Meadows for employing a great staff. ????
when you pull up to the complex its beautiful..my 2 bedroom is very spacious ..the area is clean with very little noise ..I would recommend
Moved here thinking this was a somewhat decent apartment in the Columbia, MD area, I was wrong. For what you pay in rent you can pay $5-10.00 more somewhere else in Columbia for a better living experience. I would not and do not recommend until numerous changes are made.
I have been a resident of Tamar Meadow for a year, and I must say that this place is exceptional. The grace and hospitality goes beyond my expectations. Any issues I have( which is very minimal, because they're on top of it) is resolved immediately. I operate with the highest integrity, so I'm not leaving this review just to leave a review; but, I am leaving it because it is a fact. I want to give credit where credit is due. I just signed another year lease, because the management and maintenance is absolutely phenomenal! It's a great place to live!
This review is only regarding my walk-in experience to possibly tour an apartment unit. I called one hour ahead & notified the agent we were on our way & if it was possible to tour a unit. She responded informing me they accept walk-ins. Upon our arrival within that hour (approximately 1pm), the agent greeted us & we expressed interest in a tour. She informed us she was in the middle of an appointment & will be taking her lunch break immediately after & won't be able to assist us until 3pm. It was her tone that lacked empathy & professionalism & therefore, we were immediately turned off. We visited other communities this same weekend & have never been treated this poorly anywhere else. Solely based off our first impression of staff, we will NOT come back to consider this place as our future home.
The community is the best I've ever lived in. Coming from a college community, it's nice having such quiet and respectful neighbors. I love that I know all of my neighbors and they are all so nice! :) What's not so nice is the maintenance. This place is great if you don't have any problems, but as soon as you do expect that nothing will be done. My roommate and I went several months with our front door busted (literally someone could break in because the frame was busted) and were told that no one stopped by because our dog was out. No one called to let us know they were stopping by, so we could put our dog in a room. They don't leave notes when they stop by either, so be sure to take a "before" photo so you know that something's been done. You pay a lot of money to live in this community, so they should take care of maintaining the apartment when things go wrong. Doesn't exactly make you want to stay. The only staff member that we've enjoyed, who has also been the most helpful, is Pleschette. She's the best thing about this place. You've been warned! Don't be surprised when you move in and things don't get fixed!

Thank you for your review. Candid feedback such as your's helps us to identify issues and improve our business. I'd first like to apologize for failing to provide you with the customer service experience you deserve. I would ask that you contact the property manager, Cindy, so that she can address your concerns immediately. We truly do value your residency and strive to do our best every day but some days we miss the mark. Because Cindy splits her time between two offices, your best bet is to email her at cindyje@homeproperties.com, or you can call her at (410) 992-4242. BTW, we totally agree with you - Pleschette is awesome and our residents love her! Please contact Cindy and allow us to make things right. Thank you for your patience up to this point and thank you for your residency.
It was decent when we moved in, back in 2010, but has gone continually downhill. They raise the rent $70-100 every time you renew, and even for new people, the rent is way more than this place is worth. They were bought by another company last winter, and things have gotten even worse since then. Maintenance never fixes anything properly, they just bandaid any problem they run into-- so it's no surprise that the place is falling apart. Staff has always been kind, but incompetent, and the turnover rate is incredibly high. There's a new person in the leasing office every few months, we've easily gone through 10 people since moving in. The parking lot is sketchy to the point where I don't feel comfortable with my little sisters visiting after dark. We did their home purchase plan during our last lease renewal (pay $1500 to be able to break your lease at 60 days notice with a purchase agreement) and have run into nothing but trouble since moving out. They never put the new move-out date into their system, so the payment portal was showing the full rental amount during the last month where we were supposed to pay a prorated amount. They never fixed it, and ended up filing a civil case with the district court for "failure to pay rent"! I have emailed and called multiple times, and on the times that I did hear back it was just to say they "were passing my message on to the property manager", only for me to never hear back from the manager! This entire thing has been an absolute mess, and they don't care that I now have something on my record because of their lazy mistakes.
These apartments are pretty nice. They are located in the center of Columbia - a 10-15 minute drive to any shopping center in the area. There are a lot of shopping centers near these apartments as well as Columbia Mall. Public transportation stops are right outside of the complex and I-29, I-95 and I-100 are very close. The complex is clean and quiet. There is a pool, a small fitness room and a nice main office. The maintenance crew is super friendly and knowledgeable. The buildings do not have elevators - important to note if you need one - but the flights of stairs are short. There is covered parking available for a fee as well as extra storage space outside of your apartment. Parking is super easy since neither you nor your guests need a permit. And there is always parking available. The apartment itself is good. We have an open layout that is very nice and allows for good entertaining. The apartment comes with a washer and dryer, a must for us, which comes with a shelve in the area that is great for laundry soap and extra storage. The appliances worked ok, sometimes we had to put in service requests, which were quickly addressed. The bedrooms and closets are super spacious and so is the balcony which come with a storage closet. The kitchen has a little breakfast counter and plenty of cabinet space. Overall, it's a great community if you want to be in a nice apartment in a nice area, with easy access to main highways, shopping centers and public transportation.
It a great place to call home. The staffs always greet you with a smile and are very helpful to our needs, and are quick to attend to any problems that arise. The grounds and facilities are kept clean every day by friendly courteous workers. The workouts room are open 24/7 are rarely crowded and the pool area is great. I’m closet to work, movie theaters, malls and major highways to Washington DC. Beautiful neighborhood with park and trails
The complex is small and quiet. The apartment is nice has fireplace and laundry in unit which is amazing. The appliance could use a update they are energy efficient however not stainless steel. Would love more storage space in the kitchen and the entire the apartment.
