The college town of Aiken is located in southeastern South Carolina near the Georgia border. It is home to the University of South Carolina Aiken and to Aiken Technical College. The city is roughly 18 miles northeast of Augusta, but unlike its neighbor, golf doesn't reign supreme here -- polo does. The heart of the city is its downtown area, a vibrant shopping and dining destination. Designed around cobblestone courtyards with fountains and benches, Downtown Aiken is an inviting place to live. It is home to a variety of art galleries, antique stores, the AECOM Center for the Performing Arts, and top-rated restaurants.
Aiken began as a railroad town in 1835, and Downtown Aiken is home to many historic locations. The Aiken Tennis Club dates back to 1898 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Visit the Aiken County Historical Museum to learn more about the city's history.

Property Ratings at The Ashton
Not worth the price dirty apartments and neglectful staff gym and pool never opened I went 6 months with a broken thermostat nobody answers the phone and maintenance doesn’t help with any problems
Property Manager at The Ashton, Responded To This Review
We regret to learn about your experience. Our team is dedicated to offering clean, comfortable living spaces and efficient service, and it's evident we did not meet expectations this time. Our maintenance team is readily available and we are happy to address any concerns or work orders.
While the property looks very nice on the outside, the inside is a different story. Many of the countertops were poorly cut and the lighting fixtures goes out frequently. The gym is tiny with some broken equipment and is also dirty. The walls on the inside are painted with different types of paint. There are a few large potholes that could damage vehicles. Even saw a door frame when walking around the property that looked like it was about to cave in. Garages and storage room doors work when they want to. The prices for the square feet is absurd and when looking at the additional items you have to pay just to live here is not worth it. There seems to be no maintenance person on site and the pool is closed outside office hours for some reason. After visiting some friends that I knew lived there and got to see the place for myself, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
The location is very overpriced for what you get. Little space for living and many apartments lost cabinet space due to remodeling. Hidden fees for stuff no one uses are also in the contracts that you can not remove. Lots of pot smell lately.
