Northwest Greensboro sits just 10 miles outside the downtown area, but it provides a vastly different view of the city than the streets and suburbs around the city center. With access to Lake Higgins and Lake Brandt, Northwest Greensboro is a scenic setting that’s perfect for anyone who wants to be near urban conveniences, but enjoys the thrill of outdoor adventures and afternoons on the water.
The area of Northwest Greensboro is made up of a number of fantastic, unique neighborhoods and engaging apartment communities. The area’s vibrant outdoor atmosphere is broken up in spots by conveniently located shopping centers, big-box stores, and a few restaurants along the main thoroughfares. Bur-Mil Park provides 250 acres of pristine land set between the lakes to the north, and there are plenty of bike trails along the shores as well. Commuting to the city takes just a few minutes thanks to the interstates that serve the area.

Property Ratings at The Avenue Apartments
Front door has huge holes in it let’s the bugs right in. Sooo many roaches everywhere. Coming out the drain when u shower, and everywhere else. Management is horrible. They never answer the phone and take forever to fix things . They lose money then suddenly find it. Police walking by the window flashing lights in our windows in the middle of the night. No type of security our car keeps getting broken into. Dog poop everywhere. No washer and dryer hookups! Told us we couldn’t see our apartment because they were putting our washer and dryer in we move in and there’s no washer and dryer ! It’s cheap here but you get what you pay for. This is a very last red type of thing
Property Manager at The Avenue Apartments, Responded To This Review
Due to the nature of your review, we think it would be best if we spoke with you directly. Please stop by our office at your earliest convenience so we can discuss these claims. We look forward to speaking with you soon.
Lived here for 2 year with both old and new management. A lot of other residents smoking weed, leaving the dogs poop all on the ground, the gunshots and the fight that broke out at the pool that resulted in the gate being broken and blood on the concrete. Not to mention, yea we live in apartments, I you will hear other residents, but I shouldn't be able to feel when they close their front door because the walls are that thin and sensitive. There's a HUGE gnat problem, but I was able to manage, outside during the summer there's so many roaches because of all the trash that be outside. The gunshots and violence that goes on is crazy lmao. There's over 60 3 floor buildings, you're lucky if maintenance can swing by. Upon moving in most of my appliances needed to be replaced because of the pipes being trash and upstairs neighbors kept clogging their pipes. It's not worth the headache
When I first moved in here I thought it was a genuine nice places… but maintenance took forever for even the simplest stuff Ex. Dishwasher and garbage disposal… they take 3 WEEKS to even come to your apartment, best believe my apartment stank thanks to them not showing up no matter how much I’d beg : I had this happen 3 times already… My AC DOESN’T WORK thankfully I actually had a caring maintenance guy and he told me I needed a new AC unit, he DID in fact put a request in to replace it cause air was leaking…. You think they have replaced that AC???? Haha. No. It’s been 2 years OH ALSO not to mention the shoot outs every month, Management doesn’t care. I talked to a police officer the one time there was a shoot out NEAR US and he admitted that a homicide was committed across to the other side of the complex. I don’t feel safe here at all. I hate it and then they want to move rent up???? It’s not worth the money at all. Also no washer and dryer connections. It’s a lie cause I specifically asked for an apartment with one and they didn’t give it to me. After me living here for 2 years please take my word for it. Don’t do it. Management has go e through at least 7 different management companies in these last year. Don’t bother. Oh and they blamed me for there painted over tubs peeling, they repainted it and it started peeling again even if I didn’t use bleach and I let them know that they need to come back and do it again but you think they respond??? Ha no. Not Luxury in anyway. I mean if having no AC and shoot outs every month is luxury? I don’t want it.
I love my actual unit. Very spacious and big bedrooms which is great. But maintenance and management are sub par to say the LEAST. Where do I even begin? The first thing I noticed about my unit was that the front door had clearly been kicked in before, and all maintenance had done was paint over the cracks and missing wood pieces to cover it up, didn’t replace anything. Over time I began to notice how poorly this place had been renovated. The faucet on my sink wasn’t sealed to the sink, so the entire faucet moves when you turn it on and also sprays water everywhere if you turn too far to one side. Half the kitchen drawers are broken. Our dishwasher leaks, and it took maintenance a week to come out and “fix it” when we were told they would be coming later on the same day we went to the office to report the issue. Even after they “fixed it” it still leaks. The fridge leaks water on the inside and ruins anything that isn’t in a plastic or glass container. The bug problem is out of hand, even though we pay for pest control every month as part of the rent. Spiders, roaches, stink bugs, crickets, you name it. Parking is horrible, we work second shift so trying to find a parking spot that late at night is like finding a needle in a haystack, on WEEKNIGHTS. Forget about the weekends. My car was broken into a few months back, along with a string of others around the complex, and finally after enough people had this happen to them, the complex finally sent out an email that they would be putting up cameras around the complex. This has yet to happen. The trash valet people don’t use the trash compactor properly, so there’s mountains of trash outside dumpster every week until the big dump truck comes to collect all the trash, not a good look at all. Twice in less than 3 months has the water main for the entire complex been shut off, with management only giving residents about 2 HOURS NOTICE. The second shutoff is currently happening as I write this review. Management told residents that the water would be back on at 2pm YESTERDAY. It’s 7am the next day and the water is STILL NOT ON. It’s almost 24 hours that the water has been shut off. I’m sorry but how can the people in management go home with sound minds knowing their residents have been and remain without running water for almost a full day??!! Consider that question before moving here. Thank GOD we are moving out of here at the end of this month.
My move in my new home was so easy and fast my marketing consultant J handle everything I needed him to do I love J he is awesome!! I will be referring people to J as well thanks so much J
I did not enjoy my experience. In fact, I loathed it. The customer service and level of professionalism with staff is not good. Maintenance issues were constant and they were not very responsive to the complications I had such as my tub filling with sewage, my refrigerator going out, the lock on my door being installed incorrectly and me getting locked out of my apartment as a result of inept staff. Would never recommend. New staff, organization, professionalism, and actual concern for residents who pay money to live here would be a start for improvement. Additionally, the complex claims luxury when it is far from it. The apartments are old and in need of serious renovation outside of the quick thrown together renovations that have been done for a profit.
The Avenue apartments are pretty great. However, if you live on the bottom floor, you can CLEARLY hear every step the person above you makes. Sometimes you can even here the people above you talking. Personally, I view that as a huge downside. I will probably be moving as soon as my lease is up, for that reason. Also, when we started renting, Wifi was included in rent. They recently left a note on everyones door that they will no longer be including Wi-Fi in the rent and we need to figure out our Wi-Fi on our own. Other than the ceilings on the bottom floor being extremely thin, these apartments are average apartments. This is a great first apartment, for sure.
Lived here for 2 years, and sadly I would not reccomend anyone live here or waste their time. Management constantly gives you attitude and excuses, unwilling to help. New office staff constantly. Maintenance takes forever. Was given wrong prorated rent amount at move out (they still took my $ and said it wws fine), and now it is on me to fix. Office staff was quick to pass the problem to another employee who conveniently was not there in the office that day, and gave me attitude for asking simple questions. This is the constant environment in the office. Rental rates are constantly increased for amenities that are sub-par. The neighbors constantly blasted music throughout the night and early morning. I told the office about this 3 times, but it continued. The actually apartment was pretty nice, but definitely not luxury as they advertise. Had a few maintenance issues during my stay, and after asking multiple times to have the workers call before they came to fix anything, that request was never met. The maintenance staff was constantly unprofessional when they were in my residence, and made very rookie mistakes (like forgetting to plug in an over after working on it for almost 2 hours wondering why it won't work.) The laundry facility in building 35 was very dirty. There was even a hole in the bottom of the door. Even after "renovating" the laundry area, that was not fixed. The washing machines were constantly broken. I was told to use a different room instead of them fixing it promptly. As someone with a disability, this was a very difficult task to do, and I could not easily just go to a different room. Over the last year they started doing trash valet. Originally they said the trash people would come between 5pm and 7pm to collect. The last 5 months of my stay, they came at 9-1030pm and were blasting music as they collected right outside my window. They also never shut the lid to the trash can even once, which might seem petty but caused insects and dirt to get inside the can that they wanted you to keep inside. We decided to leave due to the high rising rent prices, mixed with the disrespect we constantly felt from certain employees in the office. There are better quality places available in town with lower prices, and staff that actually listens and cares. I am very disappointed with how our living situation turned out there.
I searched a lot of places before settling on this one. I'm glad I did. So much within walking distance: grocery stores, restaurants, and Amoroso's Bakery. Yum! PS: Calories don't count if you walk there! ;-) Ideal location for driving to Friendly Center, Bridford Pkwy, downtown and nearby highway access. I found the staff to be as friendly and responsive as I was. Kudos to those I've interacted with, especially Kayla, Michelle, Thomas, Sharon, Stephanie, and Lynn. I was expecting some wear and tear for buildings from the 70's, and I don't have an upgraded unit (Yet!), so I wasn't surprised by older cabinets and appliances. The important thing is they all work and I can relax and enjoy the place, my home. Community laundry machines work fine for me. I love WiFi and Cable included, as is full membership at a local fitness center (which I can walk to if I want). This is the first time I've had valet garbage pick up and I feel spoiled. Lastly, as others have commented, it is like a park setting with many mature trees.
Dont rent from here at all!! We live on technically the second floor, one below us and one on top. The people on top of us dont shut up at all even late at night you can hear everything. This apartment complex is infested with roaches bad!! They say everything is upgraded but its not we dont have stainless steel appliances at all or wash and dryer hook ups. We have called maintenance and nothing gets done. PARKING IS HORRIBLE. STRAY CATS EVERYWHERE. They increase on rent every month. I could go on for awhile. We signed a 6 month lease and might break it a month early we are so miserable here. THIS IS A "B" PROPERTY ON THE APARTMENT SCALE. THIS ISNT LUXARY AT ALL. MY FIANCE HAS WORKED FOR LUXARY APARTMENTS AND "A" AND "C" SCALE PEOPERTIES AND THIS IS A CLOSE "C" PROPERTY.. DONT RENT A RUN DOWN APARTMENT THATS SHOWS NO ISSUES BUT LATER WILL.
Personally I have lived in 5 apartment communities in this area since college and this by far the worst. Please save yourself the trouble. I would happily list the issues wrong w this place but it would take a few days. Had I known I would experience so many issues, esp to not have them fixed I would have never moved here.
The complete stellar service Danny gave in service to this issue is way better than I expected or knew was needed. His thoroughness resulted in my being completely satisfied...with the medicine chest in this bathroom....after living with it for 6-7 years. The new management PLUS the staff that has been hired GET THE JOB DONE BEYOND EXPECTATIONS!!! THEREFORE...MEETING MY DEFINITION OF INTEGRITY IN STELLAR SERVICE ....EVEN FOR THE "LITTLE" CONCERNS.
I've lived there for 2 years and rent always increases, no changes to the community. Poor customer service and crazy tenants. In the area, I am in the cops have been called 9 times and those tenants still live there! Cristal is the manager and she is the worse lady I have ever seen in my life. The staff is very rude. Old construction so all floors makes lots of noise.
Property Manager at The Avenue Apartments, Responded To This Review
Oh no! We're so sorry that your time at our community has not been the five-star experience that we strive to provide. We want all residents to feel comfortable in their homes and we do have policies in place to ensure residents are at-ease; if you'd like more information about our efforts, please contact our team. We're committed to making your stay more enjoyable and we look forward to working with you. Thank you.
I have been living in Westborough apartments over 7 years. The staff are what makes this apartment great and unique from other apartments I have lived. They are friendly and helpful whenever you need help. The apartment office has computers to assist those who need help with either school or to print a document. The office also occasionally give away food to residents and host poll party. If there is anything I could add, Westborough and its staff are making a difference in residents' lives.
Westborough Apartments. Negatives:onsite laundry is terrible. Postives: Rent, Neighborhood, Pool, Amenities are covered, Quiet.
Walkability, diversity, city living. I so appreciate being able to walk to drop my car off for repairs, walk to an all night grocery store and an all night drug store/pharmacy; walk to Chinese, Mexican, Italian foods, as well as all night diner, Starbucks, frozen yogurt. I can walk to UPS, to shoe repair, and to nail spa. This apartment complex is a mix of college students, young marrieds, families with children, retirees, middle-age singles and other abled people (and you might meet many of these peple at the swimming pool). School buses run right through the complex. Several nationalities and ethnicities are represented among the residents. In this city complex, one can easily pretend to be living in a country setting because of all of the trees surrounding each building. Add to all of those amenities the attentive staff and why would you want to live anywhere else?
