I thought I was getting a nice apartment in a gated community. This couldn't be the furthest thing from the truth. Stay away this apartment complex is a joke. We had issues from day one not only with the apartment itself having an unlimited amount of issues that still were not all taken care of when we decided that we got a lemon and left. They are trying to charge us 9k for breaking a lease when we asked several times to be moved to a different apartment in the complex and got ignored. The apartment stunk of smoke, the place was caked in nicotine residue, even after them allegedly cleaning it 3 times. We had mechanical issues. We had to ask them to replace all of the fire alarms. We had noise issues and they (the management) blatantly outed us to our neighbors to the point where we were confronted. It was so much more, save yourself the hassle and steer clear of this place. They are a joke. I am going to everything possible to let as many people know how awful our experience was here.

If you can afford $400 in rent hikes every year and 200+ in fees for things that almost never work, this place will work out fine. All the Google ratings are for maintenance because if they change a light bulb, the managers will email you to "rate the work" but obviously they just want a fake 5 star rating to look better. It's loud, impossible for any window or door to keep out the heat/cold, smells like dog poop, and you're lucky when managers put on a nice face in front of new prospects.

My initial experience was not good, but I was having a bad day because my personal situation, and the ladies upfront deal with a lot, but the property is beautiful and so clean. They really try to work with people and the prices good for that type of property but after all the other little fees for the perks I don't know that it's in my range according to my income by myself. But if you can afford it, it's so beautiful and quiet and if you are nice to them they really do try and accommodate everyone. Jennifer was wonderful and very caring.

This is my experience- walking distance to stores ,great gym and pool area. repair people do a good job but are very busy this is a big community. Office staff have treated me good. the bad- the trash dumpers are always overflowing wheelchair or stroller access is bad, cars often block entry to apartments. More theft lately in the mail room overall, I like it here but rent is getting too high.

Car Stolen, have to call office monthly to get my lights fixed due to them using cheap bulbs, sketchy people roaming apartment complex, noise complaints, maintenance issues that take weeks to repair, hidden fees and horrible management..

DO NOT MOVE IN HERE. If I could go into every single detail and advise you of the horror and mistreatment we have sustained while living in this complex I definitely would, but unfortunately I do not have 3 hours to waste typing this review so let me make it as short as I possibly can. The staff here is absolutely disgusting. There's maybe 1 decent human being working here and that is a HARD maybe. They are incompetent and plain disrespectful especially the Manager Rekkita.

The Avondale Apartments do not offer automatic rent payments. What they do instead, is let you go online and manually enter how much you want to pay for NEXT MONTH'S rent. Yup, not this month's rent. Next month's. Okay, that's not TOO weird. It's the same amount every month anyways, right? NOPE! Because they include water, sewer, trash, HoA fees, and all sorts of other taxes into your rent total. But those numbers change every month based on usage. Usage of services you haven't used yet, because this is the cost for NEXT MONTH. So you have to guess. Now, if you over-guess, they do credit your account. But what happens if you under-guess? Well then you have to go back in and do a manual payment for the difference. But wait! There's more! Every single charge (the initial guess and the "haha got you!" followup payment) incurs a PAYMENT FEE. So your choice is to over-guess by a wide margin, giving them more money than you owe and constantly piling up credits which only cause you to over-guess by more the next month... or you under-guess and double/triple pay the ridiculous "payment fee". Also the kitchen counters are small, cabinet space is limited, and the nearest pool's water has been straight-up brown for over a month now.

New management of Avondale is not as good as previous Camden. Avondale is not customer friendly . They want to make quick money with the tenants without the service. Also watch the utilities which will cost you about 20 percent of your rent.

The community looks nice, three pools and three hot tubs, Great location, good prices. However, in the middle of our lease Camden Del Mar sold to now what is the Avondale apartments, I feel the staff is the same as it was before, not very attentive to your needs once you're in, before you sign a lease they tell you all this great stuff but don't follow through. The parking spaces are horrible, if you happen to get one that is next to an open space good luck trying to keep their car from getting dented her hit. The non-residents don't care about how they park how close they are to you. I went into the office to try to get a different parking spot but they were not accommodate me whatsoever. The price is good for what you get, but after a year lease is up we won't be living here anymore.

Thank you for your input. Unfortunately, there is not much that we can do in regards to parking as there is only one space assigned to each apartment. If you know which apartment your neighbor resides in, we would be happy to bring it to their attention that they are causing damage to your vehicle. Please stop in the office and meet the new team. We are very excited to be here and we want to make sure that all of our residents, old and new, are happy with their home.
I rented in this community for only a year. Contrary to some of the reviews below, I found the staff to be incompetent, unresponsive and very unfriendly. Despite it's location, the community itself is ridden with crime with multiple apartment break-in's throughout the year. The apartments are dumpy for what you pay for. You can rent down the street in a much nicer complex for less $$$. I would never recommend this management company to anyone.

I have lived at this location for 8 months... Great community with RUDE staff. If you do not mind that, it is in a great location close to shopping and restaurants. Very calm and inviting atmosphere with well kept grounds. (HOA Fee $14) Use of the Peccole Ranch park area is a plus however Charleston is a BUSY street and there have been some horrible accidents right out side the complex, so keep pets and children close. The 3 pools through out the complex are kept very clean and busy. New paint to the outside of the buildings is in progress and parking assault was just completed so it looks shiny and new (More modern feel)

I just signed my 6th year lease with Camden Del Mar. I love living here. The staff our so nice and friendly, the maintenance guys are at your apt. within the hour when putting a request on line. Great location, beautiful grounds well maintained, access to anything you might need. Management throws BBQ's for the residents, and many other little treats. Quiet, lovely place to call home. We have lived here since April 2015. My husband recently retired from the military so we are definitely not strangers when it comes to apartment living. This is the best we have ever lived in. The pools, gym, racquetball and tennis courts are all beautiful and well maintained. The apartment is beautiful and nicely updated with new flooring, carpet, granite and stainless steel. It has a roman size bathtub that could fit 4 adults! It's quiet here. There are also walking trails out the back of the property that are absolutely gorgeous and we'll maintained. The office staff are always kind, compassionate and helpful. Maintenance responds quickly. It's in an upscale area with close walking distance to groceries, home depot, Target, restaurants. It's absolutely amazing here. We feel like we live in paradise, like we're secretly on vacation forever!!
Granite counter tops. Arched hallways. The perfect 2/2 apartment floor plan. Polite and professional staff. Pay your rent online. Covered parking. Beautiful amenities. The buildings in the gates complex are all getting a fresh coat of paint with an updated color scheme. All high end appliances. Pet friendly. In the year we have lived there, we have had our share of disasters. Water leak from floor above followed a week later by a leaking water heater in our apartment. Appliances have failed: microwave, toilet, dishwasher, disposal. Each disaster was a priority for management to address. Rather than repair we duck tape and bailing wire, we received brand new top end appliances. When our motor home went up in flames, we moved quickly into a senior complex which was horrible. Same kind of problems were met with complaints, delays and poor repairs. Moving from there to Camden Del Mar has made us completely forget two years of nightmares.
Camden del Mar. It looks gorgeous coming in and the apartments are beautiful inside, but don't let the looks deceive you!!! The WORST management and office staff in a service industry I've ever encountered. You be better to go to ask.com before thinking this office staff can help or answer any questions. Everything is an inconvenience to these lovely ladies up front. Got a question? You'll be answered by a sign of disgust like you've just ruined there day. Got a package delivered up front? They make you feel like you owe them money from doing their job. Not to mention their extreme failures on numerous times to correctly annotate your account with the rent you've just paid. It's also not their fault if their computer systems failed and you find a notice on your door saying pay or quit because their systems failed and it told you you owed a dollar less then you actually do(this is because the water bill varies monthly) so yup no call or knock just a notice because the check was $.98 cents short. Rude rude rude rude up in there. If you're in a bind don't ask them for any favors!!! Maintenance guys rock tho!!! But man you're walking into the Devils lair when you go into that office!!! Oh last thing. They don't clean the gym. EVER!!
