Suburban Living at Scott's Addition

During my lease, it was hard to get in touch with them. They answered maybe 1 out of 3 or 4 emails that my roommate and I sent, and the front office lady wasn't there half of the time when we came to talk to her DURING office hours. We submitted a few maintenance requests, but they either just marked them as "completed" without fixing the issues or only did 1 of the many things in the work order and called it finished. I submitted 1 request when I moved in, and it was not done when I moved out. They were very unreliable during emergencies. They couldn't even install the washer properly, and it flooded my apartment TWICE!! When we called for emergency maintenance, they gave us a vacuum to clean up ourselves. The maintenance guy is a liar. He kept telling us that he was stopping by on a certain date, but he never showed up. Or when we asked him for one thing, he brought us something else. This happened a few times. They refused to do anything about noisy neighbors. I have contacted them multiple times about the neighbor playing loud trash mumble rap and yelling like crazy throughout the day and even late at night. They either said they would contact the lousy neighbor or just ignored my emails. This had been going on since I moved in and was not resolved after I moved out. The front and back doors have huge gaps at the bottom. When they renovated the hallway and the stairs, the whole apartment was filled with dust. When I emailed them asking if they could do anything about the gaps, they said there was nothing they could do, not even an apology. They took some of our deposits without sending us an itemized list. When I called, they gave me the run-around and provided a different answer EACH time. Overall, both the front office lady and the maintenance guy can't do their jobs well and are liars.

i have been living here since March of 2021, when i moved in i was 7 months pregant i told them that, my ac has been broke since then i have called they claimed its fixed works 1 day then stops working, it is now June 2021 almost July and its still broke and i have an almost 2 month old baby, its 81 degrees in my apartment and they have disconnected emergency mantince number so i have to wait until monday to get any help

I am currently a tenant here at Birches Apartment. I've been living here for a year and a 1/2 now and since I moved in everything that was promised to me and my family was not performed. There were roaches that was supposed to be eliminated the 1st month we got here. It's been 2 years now and now they overrun the apartment. I cannot cook without killing a dozen of roaches in my kitchen nor take a shower without seeing a roach next to me. There is garbage around where I live and also the walls are so thin that You can hear everything that goes on inside the apartment. I will not recommend anyone to live here it's like living in a dump. I am reporting this apartment to housing authority because of my condition and unsatisfact'ry. We don't even have a property manager to talk to about the issues and the main office refused to pick up the phone. There is a big hole in the back yard. That my husband and my neighbor have fell And it has been Reported But nothing has been done. Do not consider living here find another place

This place have a lot of roaches, dirty hallways and awful lawncare. Don't move here its a waste and so nasty unless u want a lot of roaches morning and night!!

I can not express how much I LOVE these apartments. The new landlord or whatever u call it is amazing!!! He treats everybody with respect and dignity plus he loves my cooking lol but he very understanding and compassionate and he actually listen not because its his job but because he actually cares. I recommend this to every college student that is just starting off and couples who are looking for their first apartment.

When I tell you , Mr Al is one of the best maintenance men around. He always come on short notice and get the job done to the best of his ability.

I was in the office today talking to the manager. I wanted to let him know what a great job Alvin does when I call in a work order. He takes care of everything and he is very nice. I have lived places where maintenance was nasty and it took forever to get work done. I had a issue that took a couple of days and I called the manager. He was so apologetic and made no excuses. He toled me that we had the ticket and that we accidentally skipped it. He don't give you no excuses like the last one. He own up if something wrong. First thing next morning Al was at my apartment. I came in to thank the manager and to tell him that Al did a good job. He tole me that I would receive a survey and to answer honestly. I decided to give a review, cuz I am very happy here and love my apartment.

I am looking for an apartment for my mother that is safe and on the first floor. Last week, we went to The Birches The leasing manager was so sweet to my mother. Last week he only had an apartment on the second floor. She can't do that. He said he wanted her to see an apartment and if we took our time, would she be able to make it to the top floor. She just could not do it. He said his office was an apartment and he dd not like to show because it does not show as well as his other apartment It was clear he cared. I really liked him. I am from New York and I am not used to someone talking as much. He talks fast, but will gladly repeat himself. He knew my mom did not have a cell phone.He asked for my number. Today, he is the only one that called me back.He called me by my Maiden name because he did not get my married name, but I could have cared less. He apologized that he has been so busy, he said he would have called earlier. but my mother never left his mind. He let me know that he still did not have a first floor apartment for her, but she was on his mind and let me know that she was on his wait list and he was going continue to touch base. I was elated, it was clear he cared.. I told him I wanted to call his corporate office and let them know how happy they should be to have him. He said he would be happy to give the number, but it would mean so much more if I left a review so that I can share my experience with others. He REALLY wanted a review. I looked at a lot of places to live in the area. I wanted to see what I was gonna move into. Many places acted like I was bothering them and that I was taking their time like I was holding them up from lunch. I was thinking it was going to be the same at the birches. NOPE! Mr. Berry was smiling and seemed like he was happy to see me. He grabbed a brochure and I thought that was all I was going to get. He grabbed his keys. He show the picture and said we was gonna see an apartment. You can tell he really like what he do. I was worried that he was gonna change after I moved in because some reviews talk about the manager. He told me he was the new manager. He was not lieying either. When I come into the office, he always say how my favorite resident.. He probably say that to everybody but i dont care. he make me feel special. It is very quiet here. My neighbors always speak to me.

Been here about 8 months, I intentionally waited this long to do an honest review. Aside from the other reviews my experience here has been very pleasant. I’ve had no bug issues and no maintenance issues. The one time I had to call Maitenance was to be issued a new air filter and the request was handled in an hour or so. I rarely hear m neighbors and when I see them they always speak. The staff is pleasant and the area is safe. Lots of space to walk dogs and it’s close to the major highways.

I can't say enough how awesome The Birches apartments is. From Barry the property manager to the maintenance workers. They have helped me and my family. Great service, great apartments, great community. I will tell anyone who is looking for a place to live to come here first. Thank you Birches for everything.

Was denied because of misdemeanor driving charges almost 10 years ago. Not because of unpaid rent or anything of that source but driving. What this has to do with renting an apartment is unclear to me...especially when you make over 3 times the rent. That $70 application fee could have went somewhere else.

If you want a classy place to live don’t move here. Trash all over the yards and hallways are dirty. Speaking with some residents out here, nothing gets done in a correct manner. Don’t move here!

Rudest staff ever. From the Manger down to the staff ( maintenance) Grass is to high and kids shouldn’t have to walk through a forest to get to the bus stop, I will reach out to channel 12 and the city. Very unsafe and dangerous

Moved in today and the hallways are trashy and filthy. How we just moved in to a complete nasty entrance even my friends hallway is nasty. I will complain and report this unsafe living. Par nets pay to much for this dump

I put in work orders for repairs and it’s been over a month. I call the office( no answer)I go by there( No one is there) Property Manager is non caring and do what she pleases. I feel bad for the man who do the work on the property, he works a lot from what I see. Structure is in need

The maintenance guy is great and does his best for the residence. As far as the property manager she is rude and vindictive. Once you sign the lease she completely changes her attitude towards her. She is never in the office and barely responds to her email. If she messes up she won't admit it and always changing fees and increasing them compared to what is in the lease you signed. If you want to save yourself from a headache and don't want to deal with her attitude don't move there. She is rude and disrespectful and also talks about her tenants to other people. There are people she allows to break the rules while others aren't allowed to.

It would be nice AND appreciated if someone in the rental office will answer the phone. I have left a voice mail message and submitted a question via the online form.

The manager is very rude. Shows up and leave when she wants and doesn't reply back to any issues but is very quick to kick some out on the street if what she say doesnt go. That is not good business or how you treat someone that is giving them they hard earned money

Had a issue with my thermostat, all it took was one call and maintenance was right there within 1min. The service here is GREAT!!!

I recently moved in and I am quite pleased. First, the office manager Torey is professional, polite, and very informative. She made my experience as stress free as a move can possibly be. After I moved in I had a few small issues that needed attention. Maintenance was there almost immediately after I put in an order. He was friendly and knowledgeable and took care of everything immediately. So far the area has been quiet and my neighbors are friendly. I am very happy to call The Birches my home!!

The property manager is very unprofessional to residents and when she came in literally only concern was flipping apartments. Many people complain about her and how she handles issues and when you try to complain they hinder you from proper communication with a company in California who never answers the phone. It has been a nightmare since she took over and I’m glad I’m moving next month simply because of her.The maintenance guy is the only good thing about the apartment as he tries to promptly address all concerns, and request. The neighborhood is not bad though, very convenient to downtown, vcu, 95, and 64.

Manager is very rude and talks down on the residents here to others. I had a friend to come fill out a application and she hit on him and also talked about people here and how she want to get the people in here out and get new people in here. She is the rudest property manager I ever encountered. Talk to the lady in the building on the end she will give you the run down. I'm thankful she warned me and the others

Went downhill fast as they tried to come up. Manager in the office now is very rude and talks down on residents. Very unprofessional for a Manager and office is hardly opened. She abuses her power and use words of evection when things don't go her way. Ride by and look at all the trash on the property. Place is a sore to the eye

I've been here for five years and must say I saw a major improvement once the new owners brought the property. The office staff is very helpful and get things done in a reasonable time. The Manger is strict but she gets the job done in a good way. Maintenance is the best also. I will be here for a while it's safe to say that. The face
