Property Ratings at The Blake
I am so impressed with everything about this community, most importantly the management and staff. They are kind, responsive, knowlegeable, helpful, hardworking, and committed to highest quality standards. The grounds are impeccably maintained and the buildings are well constructed and maintained. The lcoation is great , I highly recommend the Blake Alexandria for your next apartment home
The amenities are great and the staff is good. They need some help though as it seems that they are drowning and are relatively hard to get ahold of. Packages are routinely placed in the package room without being scanned. When this happens we have to get a code from the office. Routinely they are not available due to touring or dealing with other residents and emailing yields little results. Upon move in we reserved the Dock and a Freight elevator but we got neither due to "incoming residents running over on their reservations". This made our move in experience horrible and some of our furniture got rained on as a storm rolled in while we were moving our things from the back parking lot to the unreserved elevators. We should have been notified of this prior to arriving for our reservation but that did not happen. I drive an electric vehicle and more often than not, the pay to charge spots are taken up by gas vehicles that have no business being there. The spots are clearly marked "EV ONLY" but the residents don't seem to care as there are no repercussions to taking these spots from residents whom can actually utilize them. (You are losing money here). Currently we do not have a parking pass and I was told that none are available We were given a temporary pass that has to be renewed every two weeks. To do this you have to go to the leasing office and speak with a leasing agent and they are routinely unavailable (see above comments). The "valet trash" service is nice but residents seem to leave trash out over the full weekend in our hallway even though there is not a pickup until late Sunday evening. This causes the hallways to stink throughout the weekend. Residents also fail to utilize the provided bins leading to seepage of garbage liquids into the hallway carpet. In the document I received outlining the service, it specified that you would be fined for this but there are again no repercussions. It is also worth noting that we were given a single mail key when the lease specified that we would receive two..
Overall not bad, but getting timely responses could be better.
So far my experience at the Blake has been wonderful! The apts themselves are beautiful. You do have to get use to certain noises but that is the nature of Apt living.
Don’t live here. The whole building smells like smoke, weed, and dog poop. From Maintaince to management, none of the building staff are helpful nor available. Horrible customer service.
The building has so much potential to be a better community. The random trash left around the building, and dog poop, in addition to the noise (both above me and in the back of the building at night) make it much less appealing. I was lured in under the fancy amenities and design of the apartment. The neighbors are not considerate of each other (I have one that lives above me and she keeps noise all night). The management office is working to correct it, however, I am suffering in the interim. The smell of smoke on my hall is extremely grotesque and when I purchased a plugin to make the hall smell better someone stole it. People speed through the parking garage and I've almost been hit several times while walking/driving through. This is supposed to be luxury but some of the tenants must be unaware of the definition of that term. I had such high hopes and was very excited to move here and some of the things are amazing sadly the bad outweighs the good.
Need a concierge. Parking problems. Elevator problems. Package problems. Garage problems. Just an overall mess. Once you move in , your on your own. You Can never contact or get in touch with the leasing office.
Horrible experience. Poor staff. Thin walls. Broken garage. Lost packages.
Emma was amazing and went beyond my expectations on helping me find the best apartment for me. She did a excellent job showing me different floor plans and explaining everything to me about The Blake. She has a lot of patience and she wasn’t rushing through the tour. It was a pleasure meeting Emma. The building looks great and the amenities are in great conditions. I hope the tenants keeps it clean & safe.
Once you move in, you won’t be able to reach the leasing office at all. The building is only functioning at 75% and whenever you need assistance or repairs which is a lot because the building isn’t fully operational, no one is available to help. Staff is not in the leasing office, won’t answer the phone, and if you wait outside for an hour to get someone to help you, they’re rude and unhelpful. Don’t live here
The Blake is a perfect and prime location. Also, the leasing team makes the experience better and is consistent from the tour all the way to moving in. Very happy decision
I have only been at the Blake for 2 weeks, but I have had a positive experience with the community and the leasing office. The apartments are conveniently located near the Mark Center transit station and I-395. Emma in the leasing office was incredibly helpful during the move-in process. As a transplant from New Orleans, Emma has continued to give recommendations for new places to visit, which is greatly appreciated.
Poorly built building with even a worst leasing office. Do not recommend. There are so many better apartments.
Biggest regret living here. Something brakes every week, no hot water, closet racks fall off, paint chips, the front desk will ignore you or be rude, the walls are paper thin, the infrastructure in the apartment is cheap. Worst decision living here
I love this apartment. It’s very beautiful and they’ve made my move in so easy. I have to give special thanks to Emma, who always goes above and beyond to help and is always quick to respond and answer any questions. She always goes out of her way to make sure all of my needs are met. Ask for Emma if you’re looking for quick results and friendly service. Thanks Emma!!
I must give Emma a shoutout for her open communication prompt responses, and professionalism as helped with my move-in and in-processing. Monica is also resourceful, friendly, and eager to fill in any information gaps when possible. 3 weeks in and I have no complaints! The overall atmosphere of the building is nice and peaceful with friendly neighbors. The amenities are amazing! It's not a headache living here and I hope this continues.
Moved her last month after moving back to the states from overseas and it was a seemless process and experience. Emma offered amazing assistance and literally walked me through the entire process. Due to my time line, i did not have the opportunity to physically walk the apartment prior to moving in, so i had to roll the dice however, Emma took the time to record everything on her phone to include the unit and email it to me. She was always available when I needed her throughout my rental process. Definitely made me feel welcomed. I love it here, lots of amenities, close to 395, shopping, fast food, etc. and not to mention, I feel extremely secure here, literally need a keyfob for everything. Only thing i wish it had is a jacuzzi hot tub! Highly recommend The Blake to anyone searching for a new place to call home.
No one ever answers the phone. And the leasing office representatives are never available. You're on your own once you move in. Severely understaffed and the tenants are the ones who suffer
My business partner and I moved from out of town and couldn’t feel more comfortable that the Blake is our home away from home. Monica have us a tour after we had seen a few other places and we knew during the showing this was going to be it. It’s obvious she’s proud to represent The Blake and loves what she does and treated us as if we were family and friends. Thank you Monica. Emma is a sweetheart that thoroughly walked us through the application process, which can at times be a daunting task but her positive attitude and determined spirit smoothed the operation to ensure we moved in on time. We couldn’t be happier with the location we chose. Thank you Emma and Monica, you ladies are exceptional!
This is the worst apartment ever. There is no customer service. If you can even reach the front desk employees you're greeted with rude responses or they simply don't know the answer the any questions. The space between apartments is so thin I feel like I'm living with all my neighbors. Save yourself the money and headache. Not to mention, for a new building something breaks every single day. Just the absolute worst. I pay rent and sleep somewhere else because they refuse to let me out of my lease. I'm just warning everyone who tours, because while it may be a pretty apartment it's a nightmare once you sign that lease.
The Blake is a beautiful apartment complex with some of the best amenities I’ve ever seen. The team is beyond helpful and understanding of your needs and will always follow up with you. I needed to change apartments due to personal life changes and they were more than accommodating. I’d like to send a special thanks to Emma, Bianca and Monica for all their help. Thank you!
I would NOT recommend this apartment. The walls are paper thin so no privacy or peace. The staff is very very rude and unhelpful. I’ve lived her for 6 months and things I’ve complained about since move in have not been fixed. No fans in room, no windows that open, no carpet and everything you put on the walls peel. You can’t let visitors or delivery drivers in so your packages get stolen or returned and Uber eats and delivery drivers you have to meet at the front door since the call box doesn’t work. For the price, you can definitely find a wayyy better price that’s worth it and will save you months of headache. I can’t wait to move out
I have been living here since a few months and thought if I pay this much money and choose a brand new apartment I will get what I pay for… oh how wrong I was for thinking that….this is the worst place I have ever lived in. You can’t buzz friends, family or delivery inside the building. The panel doesn’t work and they have been waiting on a contractor since over 6 months. Walls are paper thin and I hear everything, even things you really don’t want to hear. Trash rooms don’t function because they still haven’t figured that out either. It always looks filthy and you can barely get in or out of that room. You can not open the windows, so if you have kids, pets or are sensitive in general this is awful. They changed the horrible first management company and brought one that’s way worse than the first one. Unprofessional, rude and never get anything done. I have literally never met ppl this rude and I come from the same line of work with years of property management experience and I don’t know how they get away with this. Maybe third time is the charm and we can get a new management company. Parking is horrible, the garage and the layout is horrible. You can’t see if a car is coming, not enough visitor parking, parking in front and after the gate can’t be used because of the way they placed the garage doors. The entire thing doesn’t make any sense and you have to drive formula 1 just to not hit someone’s car when you come in or go out. They definitely need concierge service in lobby for the price they charge and give the current residents 1 month off for putting us thru hell. At least half the units aren’t rented out after almost a year. It looks like a hunted house especially with the lobby lights turned off at night I don’t feel comfortable walking in.
Bad area, bad management, mediocre apartments. Choose somewhere else
This is the worst apartment I've ever lived in. The staff is rude and horrible. It's impossible to let any guests in. The amenities are inoperable. The windows don't open in the apartments and there are no fans. The walls are paper thin. I haven't had a good nights rest since I moved in. The whole place was rushed and poorly put together with the paint peeling on walls and doors and uneven finishing. The apartments along the street are so loud. It was the worst decisions to live here. Avoid at all cost. It's a nightmare it's so overpriced. You couldn't pay me to live here if I could go back in time.
I can’t say enough bad things about the Blake. This place is not move in ready. They will give you one hard key to share with all your roommates. The office spaces don’t have ac or wifi, so inoperable. The garage tags stopped working so you can’t get in and out. The front door panel does not work. So deliveries and visitors can’t get in. Pool never opened as advertised. Walls are paper thin. Staff is rude and takes months to get things done. Resident since May. Just don’t live here. Maybe in a year with new staff and half the price it MIGHT be a worth it.
Don’t live here. Over priced. Rude staff. Unfinished property. They just wanted the money but this place is not move in ready.
Super cool property. Lot of natural light. Really like being here.

Thank you for the 5 stars! Love that you like life at The Blake! We love having you in the community! - The Blake Team
The Blake feels like home as soon as you walk through the front doors! From the spa-like scent, thoughtful amenities, luxury finishes, and tech savvy features. The leasing team was extremely welcoming during my visit and the Property Manager Freddie and Resident Manager Nick were very knowledgeable about the property. It was great to see the rapport that they had with residents and their fur babies! :)
Property Manager at The Blake, Responded To This Review
Thank you for the 5 stars! We are delighted for you to call The Blake your home! Look forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming resident events! - The Blake Team
The place looks nice but the staff was horrible. They gave me very confusing responses and were rude whenever I called.
Yes these are new and nice, but this intersection and area has a high instance of pedestrian accidents and fatalities. The area, while marginally walkable to limited areas, is not very safe for pedestrians and those planning to move here should use great caution. The planned construction of additional luxury townhouses nearby means city of Alexandria intends to add an additional traffic light at the intersection to the west of where these apartments are, which will make the abysmal traffic situation around Seminary and Beauregard even worse.
On top of one of the loudest, busiest intersections in West Alex. Little retail/transit to walk to.
