Property Ratings at The Bluffs over Cumberland
If you don’t like hearing your next door neighbors talking through the walls word per word then this isn’t the place for you. There isn’t any privacy due to the apartments being so old. It’s not worth the money, please find somewhere else.
If I could give zero stars I would. This place is absolutely terrible. I could write pages on how horrible but I’ll try to be short...noisy, filthy, poor service, broken down, filthy, wreaks of smoke and not what is advertised. I said filthy twice right? I grew up in apartments and I just moved from one but this out of everywhere is a dump. Don’t move here.
Okay first off u have to pay a non refundable fee for the application even if u don't get approved and management did not even say that it was non refundable... Its a joke stay away at all cost possible.
I've lived here for about six months. I was told when I moved in that I had a newly renovated apartment with new carpet, paint, and a redone kitchen. Within living here for a month, one of the baseboards started coming off the wall. The new carpet has cigarette burns in it. About two months ago my dishwasher stopped draining water and would gather water when I'm not using it. One maintenance man came out here to "fix it". It was fixed for a week. My neighbor has the same problem and both of us have gnats because of it. Also, I had a yellow jacket nest on my patio at the beginning of the summer. No one ever came to get rid of it. Overall these buildings are old and there are problems because of it. Management has changed over at least three times since I have moved in. The new management has tried to make the place look better, but they are doing anything they can to rent out the empty apartments. They are letting anyone live here now and it's turning into a sketchy place. Also if you have a dog, you will be told that you have to pick up after it when it uses the bathroom. No one picks up after there dogs and people let them run off the leash all the time. With all of these problems, I am paying over $600 a month which is absolutely ridiculous.
It is super quite. The rent is not bad it's 560 a month for a decent 1 bedroom 1 bath. They allow pets. They said there is breed restrictions but it seems like they let some people get away with the big pets. We have a big living room and a small kitchen. In the living room we were able to put two couches and a tv stand and tv and also a mini fridge and have an abundance of room.
It's an okay apartment. The area is nice and kept clean, but just small for the price. And with no washer or dryer hook ups, that's just another inconvenience.
We recently moved from there because of some MAJOR problems (the straw that broke the camel's back was a problem with the management...I'll get to that one). What we were paying for rent was NOT worth it. I understand that all of their "renovations" had to be paid for somehow, but raising the rent nearly $100 when we resigned our lease was ridiculous. We could have rented a 3 bedroom HOUSE with a YARD for less than we were paying for a 2 bedroom apartment! First of all, the furnace was so loud that we'd have to turn the volume of the TV up to almost maximum in the LIVING ROOM just to hear it over the noise. It sounded like it was dying. It was horrible! Then, we'd hear showers/baths all hours of the day (and into the wee hours of the morning) from upstairs and the 2 apartments next door to us. The bedroom walls are so paper thin between the apartments, we could hear "private moments" plain as day. 9 times out of 10, I didn't get a phone call to let me know that any packages had arrived at the office that I needed to pick up, and one of them arrived on a Friday and I couldn't get it until the following Monday and I needed it for THAT SUNDAY (it was a gift for a friend's child), so his birthday present was late. I only knew it was at the office when I checked the tracking information from FedEx's website and noticed that the assistant manager had signed for it. Maintanance was out at LEAST once a month to fix something. We should have gotten a new refrigerator because of one of the problems (when it defrosted, it would leak all over the kitchen floor. It was so bad we ended up putting a towel in front of the stove to catch it). One time, the upstairs pipes were leaking and it was causing water damage to our bathroom ceiling and walls, and as a result, there was a HUGE crack in the wall of the shower. Well, they fixed the crack but never repainted it, so we had a beige wall with a huge white splotch in it. It looked tacky. And, the ceilings were still all cracked and that wasn't fixed. The utility closet, every time you'd walk by it, wreaked of mildew (and I'm allergic to mold), and NOTHING would get rid of that smell (or the mildew). Half of the drawers in the kitchen were stuck and wouldn't come out, and the kitchen faucet leaked terrible (that never got fixed, either, even though I sent in several repair requests). Now on to the BIGGER issue...management. We had NEVER had a late payment of rent...EVER. Well, we had an issue with our bank, explained the problem, the manager said no problem. The next day, we had a red piece of paper taped to our door (the red paper means you're late with the rent) for all to see. About a week later, she came knocking on our door and told us we were being evicted...and the eviction notice was taped right on our door...again, for ALL to see.
