Although surrounded by inhospitable desert, Phoenix is one of the largest cities in the United States, and the nation’s single largest state capital city. The area contains numerous galleries and museums, putting the people in contact with everything from the European masters to Native American craftsmanship to modern originals from Phoenix’s diverse artistic community. The Downtown cultural scene has developed into a top-notch feast of visual and performing arts, with symphony performances, live theater, and the popular First Friday exhibitions. Phoenix is also an excellent city for sports fans, being one of the few cities in America with local franchises in the NFL, MLB, NBA, and NHL. Several thousand students attend the two Arizona State University campuses in the city, as well as the over-50,000 who attend the main campus in neighboring Tempe.

Property Ratings at The Brentwood
It’s a very old building with a cheap plaster over it. That’s the sum total of the “renovations” because of this the building regularly requires maintenance but management always makes a point to be incredibly rude if you need something. The maintenance man as well is a brash and naive as they come.
The poor reviews on the management are so true. God forbid you ever need to request maintenance at The Brentwood in Phoenix. The maintenance man will come barging into your place and immediately looking for why you are the issue. Rather than being truly helpful in any sense until he’s absolutely forced to. With a flashlight and snide remarks along the way, something as simple as a water leak turns into “what did you do to cause this” the property manager as well will call you and ensure you know that it’s not this crumbling property that’s to blame but you being a “bad tenant,” if you choose to live here it’s good to know NOT to reach out to management unless you want a problem with them.
Management and maintenance make this place 1 star. The roof outside my apartment was literally falling down in pieces, they acknowledged and did nothing about it. Massive leak in the bedroom that dripped water onto the bed - not even acknowledged and never fixed. Maintenance workers had ZERO respect for personal property when fixing things - at one point used my personal bath towels to clean a spill that they caused. Left plaster dust all over my bathroom counter and literally IN my hair brush. It made me so anxious to ever need maintenance to come into the apartment - and I did all the time because stuff is falling apart. It's just old and they never actually took the time to fix things so just do small shitty "fixes". Also kept way more of the security deposit than they should have - but I didn't fight it because I didn't want to deal with them for one more week. I recommend looking elsewhere.

From the Owner: We did have a roof leak and have recently installed a new roof at the Brentwood Apartments. Our maintenance personnel are top notch and are on-site 6 hours per day M-F. Tenants have rights to security deposits but when they leave a unit in shambles they often ending up not seeking the return of the security deposit.

Unfortunate to receive such a response from a disgruntled tenant. The Brentwood Apartments has been at or near full occupancy for several years since the owners did the major remodel of this Mid-Century Modern complex. Sandbalsted brick to original, new landscaping, new lighting, new carport, pool and spa renovated, and units upgraded. Fortunately there are many more that feel differently and enjoy the environment that has been cultivated at The Brentwood Apartments.
They will fine you $100 if your pet pees on a bush. Pot smokers in this complex.

After a few years of allowing pet we decided to go pet free. Sorry but for the comfort of our residents there are no longer any dogs or cats in any rentals.

No pets allowed; the property is pet free. The Brentwood is a non-smoking property.
I’ve waited some time before leaving a review. I only lived in the complex for one year and this is what I experienced. 1. The property manager promised that the shared laundry room was going to be remodeled, even showed me marble slabs that were going to be put in, and an entire year passed and nothing was done! 2. Maintenance: I had many issues that took over 30 days to be addressed. Let me also tell you that the new property manager is married to the maintenance guy. Anytime a complaint was made about how long it was taking...do you think it was properly addressed? Nope. The property manager alone is very rude, actually hung up on me several times, completely unprofessional. 3. Pest control: I was told there would be monthly spraying done for pest (roaches, etc), and my apartment was sprayed maaaaaybe two times in the entire year. Let me also share that there was a RAT infestation , an actual rat nest right outside of our apartment where huge New York style rats would crawl out and find food. Disgusting. 4. When we finally decided to move out, we cleaned the apartment from top to bottom, baseboards, fans, the whole 9 yards. Let me just say then when we moved in, it was filthy. Baseboards had dust, the walls were filthy. We made sure the apartment was way better than how we found it. Not surprising at all, we didn’t get a single dollar back of our $500 deposit. Literally, the “damage” they found equaled $500 exactly. Let me just remind you that we had many issues with the property manager, which we complained many times and even ended up speaking to the owners of the property. It seemed very revengeful and intentional that we didn’t get any of our deposit back. Honestly, I could write a book on the issues we had here. After reading all of these reviews I see the property owners don’t take any responsibility and simply say, “see for yourself how amazing it is.” How about acknowledging your mistakes, apologizing, etc. instead of telling possible new residents to just take your word. I’d say even if the property did throw $600k down in renovations, it still doesn’t make up for the rude and unprofessional management. I’d continue to look at other properties in the area, there’s a lot! Keep looking.
I moved into the Brentwood during the renovations, I saw the place change from a dated looking building to a clean modern looking apartment complex. The lighting was lacking, the landscape was ugly, and the paint was faded. The new renovations made the complex pop and made it a place I was happy to bring friends and family too. Are stay was not without issues but the owners and the management team stepped up when we had a flooding issue in our apartment. They fixed the issue in under 2 days and came out personally to inspect the damage and apologize for the issue.
If I could give no stars I would!!! The complex is a quiet one, and the renovations are nice to look at, but the underline issues with the apartments are not easily overlooked. The first day I moved in my shower head fell out of the wall. The second week I was in the toilet and sink backed up with black gunk. The “new” ceiling fans are crap and the lights turn on and off randomly by themselves. I was told that they would not fix it since it is not falling apart so I have been living with my fan sounding like it’s going to fall on my head for a year now. The plumbing is crap and the sinks and toilet back up ever other month. The cold water now that it’s summer is scolding hot and the hot water it “3rd degree” burn hot, and the excuse from management was that “ it’s an old complex”. The manager is a manipulative liar who will have your car towed out of spite and lie to your face about petty things. Don’t waste your time or money!!!

Absolutely worth it. A $600,000 renovation has turned this place into the best Mid-century Modern restoration in Phoenix. Come see for yourself!
I was here under the previous ownership (The Ranch), and although I had to go through a lot of the remodeling and construction, things have turned out beautifully. The new and remodeled complex has been wonderful to come home to. And when something goes wrong in my unit, there’s been a quick turnaround in services. I appreciate the changes that have been made, and hope things stay this way.
Recently moved out of this complex due to $250 rent hike from when we originally moved in a year and a half ago. New owner bought this complex and chose to renovate the appearance of things, but unfortunately did not fix many of the bigger issues. In all fairness the place does look better (a fresh coat of paint works wonders) and there have been some significant improvements made to the landscaping and parking area. However, there are badly patched cracks in the ceilings/walls from water damage, lights/ceilings fans randomly turn on and off, floors squeak with every move you make, the windows are so old you will pay a FORTUNE on electricity in the summer months. They have a designated "pet waste area" which in reality is a patch of fake grass that people leave their dogs crap on, which I was told would be cleaned "weekly" by maintenance. Not to mention the current manager isn't very pleasant. For the area this complex is in, there were things I was willing to overlook for a while but unfortunately the positives just don't outweigh the negatives for the amount they’re charging for rent. Do your research, look around..you can find a better place that’s worth your money.
My husband and I have lived at the now Brentwood was the Ranch for over 2yrs. It was a cheap place to live but had alot of problems and residents that were not good neighbors. But after the new owners changed it to the Brentwood it's so much safer and clean. I can take my daughter outside and it's a good place to live. I hope to live here for alot longer.
The only reason this gets two stars is because of the location! I recently moved out of this complex as it is a disaster and the management does not fix things that are broken (but rather they say nothing is wrong or its somehow your fault). There is now a manager who lives on site and she is mentally unstable. She creates issues with many residents and lies constantly. The (newest) owners are no better in that they back her up and do not rectify the situation. Do not move here! Did I mention squeaky floors and horrible plumbing??

Come see for yourself!! This the best Mid-Century Modern Apartment community in the Valley. Our experienced and professional ownership team completely renovated The Brentwood with a beautiful courtyard, designed by SBD Studio who are known for their major hotel work in Phoenix. Amenities include new lush cactus landscaping with custom lighting, new fire pit and carport, and renovated BBQ area, spa and pool. All units are recently rehabbed with quartz counter-tops, and penny tile backspashes. And yes, the former tenants won't experience the new plumbing systems.
