Property Ratings at The Buckingham / The Commodore / The Parkw...
You can't beat concrete construction for a quiet building! It's a rare thing these days. I've lived at the Buckingham for many years (as have several of my neighbors) and it's a quiet, friendly community with kind, considerate management and a dedicated (if understaffed) maintenance crew. Some units are remodeled, some are older, so it's whatever's available when you're looking. You're just a block away from a 5 minute bus ride to downtown or a 15 minute ride to uptown and the Lakes. Best deal in Loring Park!

I have lived here for nine years and have enjoyed it. The building is well maintained and the staff is responsive to requests. The location is another plus. I highly recommend it!

Beautiful looking property that they are continually doing small renovation projects to keep it pretty, but its all surface level. In my apartment the bathtubs water has been constantly running for the past 4 months with no one doing anything about it. I have tryed leaving many service requests and emailing the property manager with 0 action. It has gotten so bad mold has started growing on multiple surfaces around the bathroom. Another issue we have had is the baseboard heater in the main part of the unit has not work ever since i moved in, it has gotten down to -40 degree temps this winter so we were forced to use a space heater which costed us an extra $80 a month to run when Heating is supposedly payed for already having to rack up my electrical bill for their issues seems unlawful.

This is not the nicest but not the worst neighborhood in Minneapolis. I have lived here three years and definitely recommend living at Buckingham Apartments. Our neighborhood and the city of Minneapolis has had civil unrest this past year, and we are making a fast and recognizable recovery. I REALLY like my apartment. I have lived here 3 years. The first year my owners were great but not interested in updating the building. Then there was a difficult transition year two when we were between management companies. Fortunately, we have a great new management team and they are very responsive and pleasant to work with. They communicate well and are transparent with us about all construction and improvement projects happening in the building. There is a nice gym and a mod pool/hot tub common room in our basement. It is safe and secure all around the building. We live by a fire station on a street where cars are exiting from downtown, so if you haven't lived in a big city before this could be an adjustment. But I endure the nightlife and busy street, because I have a good view of downtown (on the north side of the building) and I am saving a lot of money living here rather than finding an overpriced apartment in North Loop or even near me in Loring Park. Since this was a hotel in the 1920's, there are many small units that are great for students, twenty-somethings, or anyone who needs a small space near downtown. There are some larger apartments for families too.

Thank you for the wonderful and thorough feedback! We're glad you enjoy it here. Please let us know if you need anything and we hope you have a good day.
Unfortunately from the moment my daughter and I went to take a tour, this has been a terrible experience. We were extremely clear from the very beginning regarding the price range she could afford. They still proceed to show us 3 apartments that were over her budget. When I pointed that out and asked to see one within her budget, he said he didn't have one ready to show us. Once she was finally able to see the apartment, there were repairs that needed to be made. We were told they would be done before she moved in but almost 3 months later they are still not fixed. You can never get a hold of the property manager and it takes him a few weeks to return phone calls.
When I first moved into The Commodore Apartments it was not a great experience at all. Granted, I was moving to a different state in COVID, but it was still a horrible experience. I couldn't see the apartment before I locked in on it, didn't get a tour of the facilities, there were issues with the paperwork I sent in, so all in all, not a great first impression. With that being said, there has been a change in management and the new manager is very helpful when you can get ahold of him (not his fault they are very understaffed), and he will do anything in his power to resolve any issue you have and assist you where he can. Other than that, I lived there for 6 months and don't have too much to complain about. They renovated the buildings, fixed up the patio and pool, I felt as safe as I could have living there, and you can't really beat the price for rent and the location is not bad.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are delighted to read you had some positive experiences but troubled to see it didn't reach its max potential. We strive to make sure that all of our residents’ experience is as sensational as possible. Thank you again!
These apartments look so nice from the outside and in all the photos but beware you will not have access to the gym or pool unless you live in the Buckingham building. Also construction is CONSTANT and starts very early in the morning. We have also had several instances where maintenance has entered our apartment without our permission which is scary, and management has just brushed it off and done nothing. The apartments are nice but the building is a mess and management does does not take accountability for anything.

I rented here for a year and a half and it was not a good experience. There were a lot of disturbances in the middle of the night from other tenants yelling for drugs and getting attacked. I notified management and they verbally agreed to let me out of my lease a month early and said I would get my full deposit back. After waiting for two months and not getting it they said they kept it for my last months rent. I had stopped in a couple weeks prior and they had assured me that it was on its way but was slow because it was a check coming from New York. I feel very scammed and lied to. This has been my worst rental experience.

The Buckingham Apartments are a family owned and operated apartment complex located just outside Minneapolis downtown. The building itself is a mix of gorgeous traditional and contemporary floor plans, with a year-round heated pool and sauna. Management lives on-site, Internet is extremely cheap, and the owners of the property take pride in keeping the building clean and up-to-date. Located in a nicer part of the city, it is a short walk to the mall downtown and to the gorgeous park and art center. The Buckingham offers aesthetic, comfort, and pride among the lesser complexes of Minneapolis.
