Property Ratings at The Century
This is the worst place I’ve lived in my 11 years in Portland. Although it’s a new building, the last two winters (I don’t know about the ones prior) the pipes have frozen and water has been shut off for days. I’ve woken up to maintenance in my apartment with zero notice besides a voicemail left that morning. The fire alarm to the whole building goes off at least once a month. You’ll be waiting months for a parking space and any nearby street parking is 2hr maximum. It seems like my whole floor hotboxes their apartment and it reeks of marijuana. The good stuff? Onsite management are nice people Lots of businesses nearby

We are truly sorry to hear about the issues you've experienced. We understand your frustration and appreciate your patience during these challenging times. We value your feedback and will use it to improve our services. Please feel free to reach out to us directly at pm.century@avenue5apt.com or 1 503-477-9938 to discuss your concerns further. Unfortunately, in 2024 Portland saw unprecedented winter weather that left many buildings with freezing pipe issues. Our staff immediately responded to residents concerned and worked diligently with suppliers to address the unfortunate situation. Suppliers were overwhelmed with the call outs they received from multiple residential and commercial buildings in the Portland Metro needing assistance. Because of this, repair times were delayed due to the volume, but our maintenance staff was out in the ice working on the pipes as best as they could until the suppliers arrived. Since then, we have completed a major construction project in the garage that has insulated all pipes leading into the building, added three new boilers to our system along with a booster pump for added water pressure. Furthermore, when residents experienced this hardship, management sent out an email asking all residents to submit any receipts they had from other accommodations and utility bills. The owners gave all residents 9 days of rent credited back for delays with water repairs caused by the ice storm. Additionally, our owners spent over $60k of their own money on reimbursements for accommodations for the residents who stayed in hotels and air bnbs during the repairs. This is unheard of for owners to go this additional step for their residents and we are very appreciative that they chose to do this. As for the fire alarm, our alarms only go off when there is an emergency or once a year during the annual fire alarm testing that is mandated by the fire marshal. Residents were given ample notice of this routine annual testing via postings to their doors and emails. As mentioned, the ice storm of January 2024 brought un precedented weather to Portland that has never been seen before, and we now have completed all preventative repairs and construction to the building in preparation for any other similar weather that may come our way.
We feel very comfortable and secure in Century. We appreciate the management`s quick response to our requests. They are very attentive to the residents needs.

We have lived here for two years and are very happy! The Century building is clean and very well maintained and the staff is beyond kind and professional. I also have to say that the view is amazing and even after two years I am blown away when I walk into my home!

Not one to usually leave reviews but this is deserving. New management has recently taken over this property and completely revamped everything. Both Malinda and Roustam on the management side have been amazing and extremely helpful with my first apartment rental experience. Moving from Denver to Portland there was a lot to coordinate while also traveling for work. They were really flexible with my needs and always there to help and respond to questions. Having checked out quite a few places in the area, the room layouts here for both studio and 1 bedroom apartments are very smartly constructed to maximize space and square footage. I highly recommend giving The Century Apartments at North Cook a look if you are in need of a place. Killer coffee shop downstairs and walking distance from anything you could possibly want to be next to.

Seriously. There is a cafe downstairs. So, it's great for someone that has a WFH job. Neighborhood comes with a slew of options for restaurants and bars within walking distance. There's also a New Seasons a block away. There are a lot of dogs here. You will never spend a day not being greeted by a cute friendly dog. Common areas are kept clean and any issues are always managed in a timely manner by management. Which is nice. If you're looking to live in a nice community close to everything, this is the place. (also, there's a coffee shop!)

The maintenance guys are nice. Management: either unavailable or dishonest. Appliances: nearly every tenant I've spoken with has said that their a/c and heating unit malfunctions. Apparently they were improperly installed. Also not properly installed- dishwasher has fallen out of the cabinet in many apartments, light fixtures fell out of ceiling. Takes 2-3 minutes of running the water for it to get hot. "Amenities": not maintained. The grill on the patio catches on fire regularly because no one cleans it. Obvious fire hazard, neglected. I think this speaks volumes about how much they care. Common areas get trashed, takes 3-4 days for someone to clean it. So, if you want to use the patio or community room for a get-together on Sat/Sun, you better bring cleaning supplies and spend a half-hour cleaning up the mess from Fri. The screening process for tenants seems lacking. Some of the dogs in the building bark non-stop or are really aggressive/vicious towards other dogs in the building.

We have been living in this building for two months and it has demonstrated to be an excellent choice. The staff is always friendly and helpful and the neighborhood is quiet and full of great places to eat. Everything that they promised before we signed was fulfuilled.
