Property Ratings at The Charleston
I lived at Charleston apartments for four years. Overall, this was a great apartment as a student living without roommates. It was affordable and the lady in the front office was always welcoming and helpful. The location is decent for the Findlay area and it was safe. The maintenance guy was prompt and always respectful of privacy. Now for some cons. When I first moved in, it was a fight to try to get my leaking window fixed and the old management in the front office kept telling me that it was my fault because I was leaving the window open. This took several weeks for them to finally agree with me that the issue was caused by a hole in the gutter outside of the window. I did not have an in unit washer and dryer. This was the biggest downfall to me. Oftentimes the dryers did not fully dry a load and many of the machines need replaced. It was expensive to do a load of laundry and not have the unit work properly. At least the management would usually refund you. Last problem was with the dog poop. Many residents with dogs do not pick up after them. Overall, I would recommend this complex for UF students who are on a budget and would like a decent sized apartment with nice management and a safe environment.
Their hospitality and people-skills are awful. Poor communication and bad staffing has led to me trying to get an apartment here for MONTHS. They do not email you, they do not contact you or update you with anything, and they absolutely do not care. AWFUL
Office staff is fantastic. I’ve met Shannon in person like three times and she always remembers my husband and I. The units are solid and I don’t get the vibe they were made cheap, as we’ve been here three years and no major issues. Maintenance responds timely and fixes unit issues in a respectful and efficient way. Notes for improvement: •Lawn care is sloppy, but I’m not here for outside cosmetics. •One bedroom units are a little cramped, especially for two people. Two bedroom units aren’t significantly more expensive and make the world of a difference. •Ventilation is poor so our fire alarm goes off a lot when we cook. We only saw this problem in two bedroom units. •Parking isn’t assigned so neighbors can be dumb about it. Ultimately I’ve loved this place.
I moved into a one bedroom and I couldn't have been happier!! Never had any issues, great neighbors, clean and peaceful. The office ladies were always so nice and answered any questions that came up. I was sad to leave my my new husband and I bought a house so move for a new adventure. I highly recommend Charleston apartments!!!
Great apartments! Very clean. Laundry room is close by and kept very well maintained. Location gives easy access to any part of Findlay. I was very pleased with my stay there.
I relocate for work every year, so I've lived in many apartment complexes similar to the Charleston and I can honestly say that none were managed as well as this one. They always respond when you need them and are exceedingly friendly and helpful. This is their strongest selling point. My one bedroom apartment (A36) was simple, clean, affordable, and the perfect size for me. Not much room for hosting other people, but plenty of closet storage space for your stuff. Can't beat this place for their price and excellent management staff.
I've lived here for 4 1/2 years. The rent is affordable but could use a little extra room. The lawn around the complex isn't managed. But for me just enough room. There is a washer and dryer hook-up which is very nice and a large closet for storage. The office manager is a very nice lady, very friendly. I have a small dog which I paid a deposit for.
