Avoid - look elsewhere - not safe.
If you're looking to move in, I would suggest looking elsewhere. It looks great on the outside, and that's what the management is making sure of to attract new tenants. But, once you're in, soon you'll realize what the management does and how unfairly they treat the tenants. So many hidden issues that they ignore when it comes to safety. Fire alarms wake up the entire building at 3-4 am for no reason - no fires. Little children, elderly, pets, everyone, need to leave their apartments and be outside for 20-30 minutes at least - winter, summer doesn't matter. The building and the garage can be entered by anyone who doesn't live here, because the management doesn't want to fix the ramp and the main door locks. Weed smells everywhere (nothing against those who smoke, but don't want my young children smelling this inside the building and even getting into my apartment). The parking issues are a whole another story. Towing company has the permission to tow anyone at any time. It happened (I heard complaints from other folks) that people got towed from their own parking spots, because the management assigned two cars to the same parking. Then they had to pay, but never got reimbursed – go figure that one. Not enough visitors’ spaces, not enough storage. The management is changing rules on the fly, never to the advantage of tenants, then they just send blast emails notifying you of those changes. If you complain, it goes nowhere - THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT TENANTS!!! All they want is your money. Not even one of the changes they introduced was to make life better, easier, safer, and more comfortable for the tenants. There have also been shootings there recently, and police were investigating, so you're better off looking elsewhere. Some of the issues are out of management control, but I am very disappointed with the way they manage everything that is within their control. GREEDY!

Great community
Been here for 3 years. Love my apartment. The community is pretty good. Some off the residences could be more respectful and clean after there pets but that has nothing to do with management. I have been to the office a handful of times and Edwin quickly resolved any of my issues I had or concerns. He was professional and friendly. He took the time to understand my problem and resolved it in a timely manner. I highly recommend living here specially as the staff (specifically Edwin) are extremely friendly.

New management is terrible. They say they cannot do anything about our cars getting towed, orcabout the chasneliminating the shuttle when the other buildings are still offering it. My rent increased $260 a month this year and the shuttle was stopped!!

Maintenance is good. Otherwise disappointed. Community features are being abandoned. Extremely disappointed that the shuttle service was discontinued and visitor parking spaces are being even further reduced. Significantly increases my costs and reduces my convenience living here and has me looking for a new apartment when i had previously hoped to stay. Failure to properly staff enough leasing agents to answer calls and leaving voicemail full is inexcusable. Mail room is awful and appears unmanaged, have received notifications and codes for other peoples packages.

I love Alterra. It’s close to the people I see on a regular basis, and it’s super friendly to pets and pet owners. The grounds are well kept and the apartment is well kept. The maintenance staff is there for me when I need them, and are courteous and get the job done fast. And the customer service provided is top notch by those in the office. Paying rent and requesting maintenance is done through an online resident portal, which is easy to use. I have lived at overlook ridge for years and continue to be satisfied living here.

Badly understaffed and Poorly Managed
They just cancelled an essential shuttle service, previously an excellent reason to move here, with only two months notice and no compensation. Their office is badly understaffed and do not answer phone calls, and leave their voice mailbox full. The package room is an unmanaged disaster and people get codes for other residents mail. Significant noise problems at times as well. In short, a poorly managed, greedy horror show of a property.

Community is nice , peaceful and clean. I had a great experience overall for my one year of living. The only concern i have is the pricing! I wish they have a slightly less rent. And yes Electricity is very expensive! I can see the difference in monthly bill where i had a slightly more laundry and cooking! Gas prices are fair enough

I’m not happy at all, and I don’t recommend as a nice place to live. I love my apartment but the service is poor for the price we’re paying. People in the office try not to help you and sometimes make it difficult to solve your problem. My amazon deliveries I need to address to my Auntie’s house because they keep stilling most of the packages (yes, I cannot order packages for my own apartment). My husband and I pay for the cover garage and someone broke into my husband’s car and we haven’t heard a work from the office. A friend of mine has a friend who lives in there who was robbed when he was leaving his car in the garage.

Me, my partner and I moved to Alterra building 19 March 2022. Our experience has been wonderful and life-changing. This is the first apartment I have rented on my own, or with a partner, since moving out this way from western mass 3 years ago. I have rented rooms in multi family houses. My partners story is similar as someone from Brazil who moved here 3 years ago. We talk all the time about how much we love our home and where we live. We got a dog in April a month after moving here and the area is so wonderful for him to play and walk. For anyone who has a dog, or anyone who enjoys a nice walk, my partner and I found a little hidden nook across from the entrance of Overlook Ridge/ the fire station that is a path that leads to the Northern Stance Trail, an 11.5 walking/biking trail that goes through Everett, Chelsea, Revere, Malden, Saugus and Lynn and it’s very beautiful and our dog Toffee loves it. I use the gym at building 11 even though there’s one in the next building over but building 11 has much more equipment but all the gyms have all the necessary equipment to get a good workout. One amenity that I am so incredibly grateful for is the third-party shuttle service they offer. My partner has a car however I don’t and Although we share it frequently we both work in the morning so sometimes I have to take the shuttle home. I take the T from Davis where I work to Haymarket where the shuttle picks us up at 5:15 and it’s always on time if not within 5 minutes but often times early. I’m home by 5:45 and I get out at 4:30. With the traffic and it being rush hour I certainly have nothing to complain about. Same when I’ve taken it a handful of times in the morning. I get the 6:30 am that’s always on time to Haymarket and walk to Park St. (7 minute walk) and take the red line to Davis and I’m at work by 7:45 and I’m scheduled at 8 am. Often times grab breakfast. The drivers are incredibly friendly and I often tip them on fridays as a thanks. Thanks Alterra and Overlook Ridge for your wonderful property and all the amenities you offer!

A very quiet and beautiful place. Wish they wouldn't raised the rent so high on my first year contract renewal (almost $400 raise) so you have not choice but to stay and start looking for a cheaper place. Also the fridge is very small and old-fashioned.

False advertisement of luxury
Thin unsoundly walls i can hear and feel every foot step above me , my whole unit shakes when anything abrupt goes on upstairs or in the hallway… this is the definition of a low cost build .

Terrible management
I have lived here for a year. I recently received my new lease. They are raising my rent over 10% from what I was paying. packages get stolen on a regular basis and management says it is “not their problem” it costs money to use some of the amenities.

I used to love this community, I moved here after recommendation by my friend. But recently not satisfied. The packages are missing, and no one showed up after an appointment. There are many ants shown in the apartment; this issue had shown last year, but the management said they had done something about the ant issue, and the ants did missing for a few months in the winter (not sure if they went to hibernation), but the spring came, the ants showed up again and even more than last year. Imagine the ants crawling through your face and your baby's face when sleeping at the night. Call the maintenance but never show up. Disappointment. I had to buy the ant killer baits myself.

Management routinely deletes without responding to emails. Management doesn't return phone calls. Voicemail box is usually full and can't accept messages. Service requests have been marked as complete when they haven't been addressed or dealt with. It took 4 requests and 12 days to get a bulb replaced in the common hallway. Packages routinely go missing or get relocated by management with no information or communication with recipient. Information and communication are very poor!

Maintenance needs to do a better job at resolving problems in the apartment la as well as cleaning the trash outside. There is always broken glass on the ground and I cant even walk my dog outside. Since the new management took over, there has been a huge decline in maintaining the building and outside areas.

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE SERVICE. Management team is incredibly inefficient and unhelpful. You can ask several different people the same question and will never get an answer and YOU end up having to deal with the consequences. They have been screwing me over with utilities for MONTHS and refuse to do anything about it. BEWARE. DO. NOT. MOVE. HERE. They will nickel and dime you and squeeze you dry of every last cent.

I lived here for 3 years as it was the only place in my price range at the time that accepted larger dogs. The management is beyond incompetent. Without writing too long a review at different instances, they 1. came in for service while I was not home and left my front door wide open 2. Refunded me too much money, refused to believe me when I corrected them and then put my account on a collections list when they realized their mistake 3. Refused to fix hallway ventilation and allowed fire alarms to go off in the middle of the night, constantly, forcing evacuations 4. Told everyone they couldn't use their dishwashers or they would explode and didn't fix them for 4 months 5. Raised rent every year with the promise that the property would be developed with bars and restaurants and never did 6. Had life guards at the community pool that would dictate how you could swim (was actually told not to put my head under water)- very bizarre experience. Finally, the office staff was rude and incompetent. I cannot tell you how much I hated this place. Find somewhere else.

This office staff is completely incompetent and depending on who you are or what you look like will be how you will be treated. I have lived in this development for a year and a half and moved out and am now struggling to receive money that they owe for charging me a fee that I had previously tried to resolve. The office gives you the run around passing you from person to person just to get an answer. They will not call you back no matter how many times you call using that "they get so many calls". But would you return calls to your tenants? They have a receptionist for what exactly? When I finally spoke with Jesse, I had to show up in person, he told me he would "entertain" my idea of recieving my money back. Also that if I had cashed the check there would be nothing he would do for me! Why would you speak to someone with such disrespect and they are your former tenant. I feel as if not only do I feel personally attacked but also that I am a single, African American woman renting there apartments and they will take my money but not help me in any other way. I received an email back from Jesse and after the conversation we had I can tell by his email he wasnt listening. I'm in the process of just going to corporate as we speak.
