Situated between Allandale and North Loop, Brentwood is roughly five miles north of Downtown Austin. Its proximity to downtown, combined with its cozy, tree-filled suburban vibe, makes Brentwood a terrific option for those looking for a quiet, attractive neighborhood still near the city. With ample sidewalks and bike lanes, Brentwood is family-friendly and great for pedestrians. With the University of Texas at Austin just three miles south, Brentwood provides a more peaceful option for students as well.
With its excellent schools and tidy bungalows, Brentwood is one of Austin’s top neighborhoods. It is known for its close-knit, community and local businesses that have served the neighborhood for decades. Brentwood Park serves as a gathering place for residents, providing tennis and basketball courts, playgrounds, and a swimming pool. The park is also the location of annual events like the Violet Crown Festival.

Property Ratings at The Chelsea
Some people really like it here and it's in a nice location, but it definitely wasn't the place for me. Pros: -Close-ish to downtown -Great maintenance staff Cons: -Super thing walls. If your next door/upstairs neighbors talk at a normal volume, you can fully understand their conversations -Entrance/exit is a nightmare. You need to wait at a light to leave the apartment and many residents exit through the entrance to avoid the light making it dangerous to get in at times -Mosquitoes in the laundry. The laundry door is never closed so mosquitoes nest in the washing machines so you get bitten and/or end up with dead mosquitoes in your clean clothes. These were also broken for months before management got new ones -Expensive for what you get. Nearby apartments in Hyde Park are at least as nice in a better location for similar prices. -Amenities aren't great. The gym is basically three cardio machines and like 10 or so dumbbells and 5 or so kettlebells with no bench. If you want to run/elliptical inside then you're good, but don't expect this to replace a gym membership by any stretch. The pool was always cloudy while I was there. Might just be bad timing, but it seemed gross to me Random Notes: -Any review complaining about danger might be outdated or unreasonable. I've never felt unsafe here or in the neighborhood and never heard about theft or break-ins -Many of the reviews come from early 2019 when management changed so there were certain incentives for residents to leave reviews. They aren't necessarily dishonest, but I would take them with a grain of salt
I like it here. Management is friendly and solves every issue really fast. They update everything step by step, so laundry situation is halfway solved: new machines with ability to use with an app. Walls are soundproof (or I have really quiet neighbors ??) walkable distance to EVERYTHING: grocery, coffee shops, gym, dog walking areas, really good restaurants and even a big pet store. And 2 bus stops right behind an exit gate. Lots of bushes and blooming trees, the management take care of the areas every day on a weekdays. It’s quiet here and with all birds chirping it even feels like you live in the countryside. Very pet friendly
I love living in the chelsea but the current laundry situation is abysmal. The washers and dryers are nearly constantly breaking or broken down and the higher ups still have not bitten the bullet and gotten new washers. It breaks my heart as i do really love this complex but this situation is abysmal and has been getting worse
When I first called The Chelsea to show a unit, I was invited at 3 p.m. same-day and given a full tour of the grounds. Having toured most apartments from Downtown to the Domain, I was most impressed by the Chelsea’s prices and standard of living. Within a week I had applied for a lease, was approved and moved in. That was July 2018 and I couldn’t be happier with my choice. A couple of months ago I spoke with a friend who previously lived here under different management and the contrast was like night and day. I can honestly say the staff is helpful, friendly and always keeps the grounds clean while quickly responding to any maintanence requests. Also it doesn’t hurt that my dog loves to meet and play with all the other pets here! The biggest drawback to The Chelsea is the small size of the gym, however I put the money I’ve saved by staying here towards a gym membership, which is only a few blocks away. Big thanks to Alice and James and the whole maintanence crew for making my experience great. -Garrett W.
My roommate and I overlooked this place over and over again on our apartment hunt because we thought the exterior looked a little corny from the photos. When we finally looked, it perfectly fit everything we were looking for! Great price for a central location, perfect amount of space for two, updated rooms (definitely remodeled within the last couple years), and very safe community. Wish we had laundry in unit, but the community laundry room isn’t very far from any apartment. Seriously love living here! - Kelly C
I have lived at The Chelsea for one year now and have just today resigned my lease for an additional year. What initially drew me to The Chelsea over any other apartment around was the community. Living in a space with only two floors keeps everyone close! We all acknowledge and recognize each other and it is never too loud. We have the friendliest neighbors and in a city that is only getting bigger, it makes all the difference in the world. The maintenance team here are quick and efficient. I knew them each by name by the end of the first month living here. I can always count on them to give me a big smile and a wave whenever I see them around. The Chelsea has a great management team whose number one priority is COMMUNICATION! I always feel informed and kept up to date with anything going on around the complex. The pools and community areas are always well kept and easy to enjoy. I HIGHLY recommend The Chelsea to anyone who is looking for a central Austin location with affordable prices! You will get so much more than what you pay for. Resigning my lease was the easiest decision to make. - Kylie S.
I have loved living at The Chelsea! It is super cute and in a great location for the price. I love the pools and beautiful courtyards, which are both well maintained. The maintenance staff is amazing, they are super friendly and attentive to requests. Definitely the best maintenance staff I have ever had. The office staff is super friendly as well! My absolute favorite thing about The Chelsea is how dog friendly it is. There are so many well behaved dogs here! My Golden Retriever pup has many good friends she made here. I would definitely recommend The Chelsea. - Jacqueline B
The Chelsea is a great place to live. It is a cozy, clean, and very friendly atmosphere and the our dogs love it. - Apt. 233
I've lived here for 9 months now and we love it! Very spacious apartment for a good price and super pet friendly as well! Lovely property - the maintenance team does such a good job maintaining the grounds! Quiet and respectful neighbors. Looking forward to renewing our lease here! -Martha V
I have lived in The Chelsea for almost 2 years now! I'm a graduate student and it's the perfect location (not too far from campus, but not right on West campus either)! Whenever we have any concerns... the management/staff is always there to help us (they are the best part about The Chelsea). -Layla S
I have lived at the Chelsea apartments for 1.5 years and absolutely love it. The apartment staff is exceptional and they are always going above and beyond to make sure tenants are happy and taken care of. From the office staff to the people who help with cleanup and repairs everyone has excellent work ethic and customer service qualities. I truly enjoy living here and am glad I found such a great fit to live. Happy tenant- Vanessa Huff
I moved into The Chelsea right as management was changing, back in the fall of 2016. The entire staff has been an absolute pleasure to work with since day 1. My couple of maintenance requests were handled very quickly. The grounds are clean and enjoyable. I love the pool by my unit. It’s a comfortable setting to hang out or take a dip and is rarely very noisy. The gym recently got improvements. Many of the laundry machines have been updated recently as well. They just added cover to several parking that you can reserve. Also, the city just installed an 801 Rapid Bus stop right outside! Super convenient to get to campus or town. I feel safe here and am comfortable with packages being left at my door. I plan to renew! -JL
From the moment I moved to Austin (I was staying with family) and drove around to explore the city, I knew this was the area and the apartment I wanted to live in. As soon as I was able to, I came to talk to the leasing office and Alice greeted me with so much warmth- I knew this is where I belonged. I’m so happy here. As apartment living goes- things break down or have issues, but maintenance always responds right away. Jose has gone above and beyond for me and I truly appreciate him so much. James in leasing always remembers my name and greats me with a smile when I see him around or when I come in to retrieve a package that was delivered for me. The premises is always kept tidy and the pools are always clean. Everyone that lives here is very friendly. I really feel blessed to be here. -apt 101
I’ve been at The Chelsea for about 3 years. The office staff is very attentive and great at solving any problems that happen quickly. The Maintence staff is incredible. The pools are also really great! Samuel C
During my three years at The Chelsea, there has been a change in ownership which has been for the best. Management is awesome, accommodating, quick to respond to maintenance requests, and always friendly. The staff are some of the hardest working and nicest people I know. The 2 pools are awesome to have a mix it up during the summer. That being said, know some of these things before you move here: units do not have washer/dryer connections (not a bad thing, just be aware). Although the location is ideal, there has been some vandalism in recent months, even inside the security gates (again, not the fault of the complex, just be aware). I would definitely recommend The Chelsea to apartment seekers! There is no doubt I would move here again. -RB214
I'm a big fan of the Chelsea! There are definitely newer and more "high end" apartments out there, but for me, the Chelsea hits the sweet spot between location, amenities, service, and price. I don't need to overpay for a swanky downtown address and granite counter tops. I'd rather have Central Austin charms, a management and maintenance team that's super easy to deal with, and a warm, welcoming vibe. --MG, Apt 256.
I've been a resident at the Chelsea for about 7 months now and love it. For me, it's got everything I was looking for in an apartment - great location, great amenities, and great price. The Chelsea has an incredible amount of charm and style while maintaining clean, modern features. I like that it is not a cookie-cutter, cheaply built complex like so many of those built today are. The staff is incredibly friendly and maintenance requests have always been responded to the day of. - Caroline M
I am a new resident at the Chelsea and have felt very welcomed. My apartment was in great condition upon move in and the staff has been very helpful. There are beautiful courtyard common areas that are maintained daily by the property. I have really enjoyed my time here so far and would recommend this property to anyone. - Joshua C. (#136)
I’ve been living at the Chelsea for about 7 months now and it’s been such a lovely experience. It’s in a great neighborhood with plenty of bus options to UT campus/downtown. The maintenance staff are attentive and helpful. You really can’t beat it for the price!
I've lived here for about a year an a half and love the place! Friendly staff all around, very helpful and attentive. The property is well kept and the units are beautiful. It offers a wide variety of amenities from a gym and laundry space on-site to an awesome and safe bike storage facility. Next, the pools. WOW! The Summers are great here, the pool area is my favorite. From outdoor bbqing and lounging by the pool, to relaxing by the fireplace under the stars. The Chelsea has it all. -Eva R.
My fiancé and I have lived here for about 11months and we love it! We live in a Monroe model (2 bed 1 bath) and have plenty of space for all of our belongings! It is a great location in town, basically the center of central austin, right where 51st dead ends into Lamar. There is great neighborhood walking and shops located about a block away at the Triangle. For this price and location you cant beat it! The property managers are helpful and nice, always ready to help you if you have any problems (we haven't had any other than a clogged drain right after moving in). I plan to re-sign as soon as I can to make sure that I lock down this apartment for the next year! There are two pools, two dog runs, a gym, and plenty of outdoor chill areas to relax and read a book or grill out! All of our neighbors are very nice and follow the community guidelines. I wish I had found this place sooner! -Jeffrey P.
I’ve lived poolside at the Chelsea Apts for the last year and have enjoyed my stay. I hear years ago these apts as the “Brownstone” were not so great. A lot of tasteful remodel make for pleasant living along with a supportive Mgmt team. Looking forward to more warm weather by the pool. -Apt #121
The Chelsea has been home for over 2 years now and just resigned for another year. From the outside, it looks a bit cold, but once you get into the courtyards it's a little oasis. They've remodeled all of the apartments, pools, office, gym etc. (Ladies, I'm talking shiplap in the kitchen WITH open shelving.) This is definitely the first apartment that I've lived in that had character. The maintenance team is truly the best (really, I mean it). They are so friendly and quick to get things fixed. And in reference to the comment below, I've never seen a single rat. There have been a few bugs here and there, but when I put in a maintenance request for the bug guy to come, they send him the next day. Alice has been managing the place since I moved in and is a rockstar!
I've been living at the Chelsea for over 7 months now. From the moment I signed the lease it has been an awesome experience! The facility is clean and well laid out. It's awesome there are two pools so you're always close to one no matter where your apartment is located. Management is fantastic. They're very transparent with all communication. They do a wonderful job of filling you in on any changes, even if it's something minor. I'm very happy with the portal we use to pay rent. It's super easy and assessable. Especially with two roommates. It makes it so easy for us to each pay our half. The portal is where you make maintenance requests as well. The maintenance guy is fantastic. I've never waited more than 24 hours for a repair. He's kind and very helpful! Overall, It's been an awesome experience living here. I would absolutely recommend the Chelsea to someone searching for a place to live. The community welcomes everyone, however it's especially a great fit for mid 20's! -Mackenzie V.
New owners and new management took over less than 2 years ago and it has made all the difference (if you've seen reviews under the former owners). The managers and office staff are super attentive, maintenance gets handled really quickly, and I've enoyed living here for 2.5 years (I was living here through the transition.) Cost is great for the location and the apartments are well kept. Grounds are maintained well and the pools and outdoor areas are great to relax in. I would definitely recommend living here!
The apartment is solid. Good staff, good apartments, friendly neighbors and a great pool!
I've been living at The Chelsea for roughly 7 months now. I personally haven't had any issues and what little issues I had (shower dripping, etc), have been address quickly by maintenance staff. The buildings are older so you can somewhat hear your neighbors, but this hasn't caused any issues for me and I understood that going into my lease. Overall, for the price you pay I think it's definitely worth it!
The Chelsea is a great place to live. Been here for 3 years and the location, decor, maintenance and amenities are GREAT. We also have some pretty adorable apartment kitties that run the place- 100% recommend!
DO NOT LIVE HERE. Curious why there aren't any reviews? Look up The Parker on Yelp. I am constantly struggling with sleep and paranoia from these loud scratching and squealing rodents in our vents. Management couldn't care less and keep changing. Bugs EVERYWHERE, yet we maintain a freakishly clean apt. Trying to sleep at 12:12am right now, but there's a rat keeping me up. Sick of this.
