Great location. Very nice tenants. Apartment is nice but could have a more spacious kitchen, less dining room space. Shower stall in the primary bath. Elevators are extremely old/outdated, constantly broken and need replaced.

This property is overlooking a lovely, lively portion of the Shirlington neighborhood in Arlington but it can’t keep up with how great the area is. During my time here, there have been multiple elevators that were out of service, a fitness center that was flooded, even my own apartment among other things. Management refused to take responsibility for the flooding in my apartment and came up with poor excuses and left me with a non habitable space during the last few weeks of my lease. The property needs work done and the management needs improvement

While the apartment complex is in a great area, the apartment complex is difficult to get around in and very difficult to move into….

The location is great. The initial impression of the community is incredible. But on closer inspection you notice where it’s issues are peaking out from under the new paint. Not accessible friendly.

Love this location! Very Convenient to 395, Grocery Stores, and the parking is the cheapest in the area. Yes the property needs to love, but you get what you paid for. The Staff from Rahja to Antoine and Tarsha provide exceptional services. The gym is Closed since september, but they have been crediting my account $20 as i provide my receipts (what other management company does that) I truly recommend this property and team

I can only say that compared to many other apartment complexes in Arlington, the rent is fairly reasonable here and I feel safe here. It's unfortunate that I have to deal with older piping, noise from the paper-thin sealing, and a HVAC system that does not evenly spread heat/air throughout my unit.

The Citizen has been a very high quality place to live these last 2 years. I very much enjoy the community and staff. The staff is always very responsive and ensures the residents here have what we need and fill us in on new information. It has exceeded all expectations, I would certainly tell others they should look into the Citizen for a future place to live.

The apartment complex is nice however maintenance is extremely poor. Using bandaids to cover up mold and leaks. They used 7 pieces of 2x4 and a scrap piece of wood to create a half usable closet shelf that looks like a child made. Overall the move in experience has been horrible because they are using a maintenance person that does not know what he is doing. The area is nice but until the complex gets new maintenance the apartment will remain subpar.

Package room is a disaster. Parking garage gates are constantly open. Main door to enter near my unit was supposed to be fob access but it was unlocked the 13 months I lived there. Water heater broke after a month of living there. Didn’t hear back from maintenance or front desk for days. When they finally replaced the water heater, they ended up telling us they installed the wrong one and had to replace it again. Went over a week without hot water. Fast forward to May and it breaks yet again. They have to replace it AGAIN and we go without hot water for another week. I could go on and on but just don’t waste your time.

This is the worst place I have ever lived. The elevator in my building never works. The issues inside our apartment have included mold on a bedroom ceiling, broken dishwasher, broken AC, 2 broken showers, and a leak around the window. This place is definitely not worth what they charge for rent. They do enough to make it look nice in the photos and on the tour, but really it is a subpar place to live. The mailroom is a disaster. They have yet to replace the propane tank in the grill in my courtyard (6 months). If you are thinking about living here I recommend looking elsewhere.

We rented sight unseen based on location. Pictures online are not what we received and are only of the apartments they are upgrading. Front desk staff is nice and helpful, did not have a warm or welcoming experience with the manager. Overall it is a place to live and we enjoy the surrounding location and walkability.

As I am writing this I have been waken up at 5:30 this morning to the sound of thousands of crows that will terrorize Shirlington Village until at least March. This is a two star building at best. The team in the leasing office deserves a 1 star on a good day and they don’t have many good days. They might be responsive when you are leasing but after that it is impossible to get answers or help from anyone. Emails go unanswered and when you go to the office they say they are going to get back to you and never do. The assistant manager Tahathia is the worst! She probably has her job still because no one else wants it. The interior of this garden style apartment has not been cleaned or power washed in the nearly two years I lived here. The grounds are getting worse and worse because there are residents who done clean up after their pets and the grounds keeper does nothing but make sure the front leasing area looks good. When I moved in I had to spend hours cleaning. The balcony was filthy. The maintenance team is vey nice, I will give them that. Thanks to George and the others. The main elevator was down for about 10 months and it doesn’t seem like it was really fixed and could go back down at any moment. If someone is moving the elevator is going to backed up for a while. The surrounding neighborhood is nice but beware everything gets expensive fast. Before leasing ask them some questions about things in this review I’m sure they won’t have answers. I think there’s been 3 property management in less than 2 years. The leasing staff is always going through changes as well.

While the building is located in an upscale area, the building itself is anything but. The veneer wears off quickly and maintenance/other issues arise. Ive only been a resident for three weeks and already know I will be relocating next year.

I recently was supposed to move into an apartment here and was extremely disappointed in what I saw. The exterior looked fine but when I entered my apartment it looked like a crime scene had just occurred. Carpet with tons of stains. Leaking pipes, nasty counters, stains on the walls. I was disgusted in what I saw. Mind you this is TWO DAYS before I was supposed to move in.

Nothing but a great experience from the moment we called to inquire about availability! We called from California, signed all the Lease forms, and moved into The Citizen sight unseen from the West Coast and have now been here for 8 months. And we are incredibly happy. Bryant (sorry, I don’t know your last name), Mary Mercy, Alicia Guido, and Nickol Grenaway are always pleasant, attentive, patient, understanding, quick to respond. It is never uncomfortable giving them a call. They all know what they are doing and they all help each other out. The complex is situated in such a prime location. Half a block away from all the shops and restaurants on Campbell Ave, seconds away from the I-395 ramp, tons of amenities, killer new and updated gym, updated kitchen and bathroom, balcony/terrace on every apartment, pet friendly with plenty areas for dogs to take care of business, dog park and walking trail minutes away on foot, my bus stop is half a block away and 1 stop away from the Pentagon subway station (my route to work in downtown DC).
The Citizen is a good place to live. The staff, Mary, Bryant, and the manager, Nickol, are all friendly and helpful. The location is wonderful, close to all shops, probably a good 20 restaurants within a short walking distance, library, theater, post office, etc. The area seems really friendly, too. I definitely recommend!
I have had an absolutely perfect experience at the Windsor. The apartment is spacious and in an absolutely perfect location m: under 5 minutes walk to a major bus hub, a grocery store, shops, a vet, a dry cleaners, and multiple restaurants! Oh, and the gym is AMAZING!!! They really need to put more photos of it up. The office staff and management has been nothing but stellar for me. For just a few examples in my first 4 months here they: - Gave me a free parking pass for my handicap dad to visit me without having to park in a local garage - Hung up my shower curtain rod and curtain for me - Took photos of the place for me because I couldn't visit before filling out the application - Always remember my name and life events - Help me carry heavy packages to my apartment - Helped me understand and fill-out paperwork through a difficult rescue dog adoption process - Brought small treats by for Christmas and Valentine's Day Holidays - Organized adorable social events like pumpkin carvings and food truck festivals - Remember my dogs name and give her treats every time they see her And last, when I was traveling they: - Brought in packages while I was away on travel - Changed the lighting in my apartment each day to make it look like I was home. When I was gone for a while. - Adjusted my heat at night so my pipes couldn't freeze. As a woman in her mid-late-twenties I could NOT be happier with the place I chose to live.
Shirlington is a great area full of things to do (movies, restaurants, theater, library, shopping, grocery store, dog friendly). The complex is nice and open with courtyards instead of being trapped inside a sky scraper. Great pool area with other amenities (gym, sauna, racquetball, etc.). Highly recommend. The price is high but so is everything in Arlington.

I moved into Windsor at Shirlington Village in August. I would say the pros definitely outweigh the cons. The apartment is located in the Village at Shirlington which is an adorable area of Arlington. There is a Harris Teeter, movie theater, restaurants, shops, UPS, library, anything you need in walking distance. It's a really awesome community and there are multiple complexes within the village which is nice. I would not live here if you don't LOVE dogs. Everyone has a dog and every restaurant has dog water bowls and outdoor seating areas where you can have your dog. I personally love dogs so I'm constantly getting my dog fix. The apartment itself is kind of small for the price, but you're paying for the location and I have been nothing but happy with my experience. We have four people in a two bedroom so it's a little cramped, but if there were two of us it would be fine. The outdoor area is really nice and there's a grill right out of our patio. The amenities are nice. The gym is nice, but not the nicest gym I've ever been in. Some of the machines are a little outdated and not the nicest, but it's nice to have it. The pool is gorgeous and really nice. There's always a lifeguard on duty. I wish it opened early in the season and stayed open later, but it's pretty consistent with the apartments around. Huge plus is the 24 hour maintenance. I absolutely love it. They're so good about fixing things right away. I've had an outlet stop working, the lock on our door replaced and the blinds fixed. Every time they came in literally 5 hours or less. Overall I think this has been a great place to live for the rent. I would highly recommend it.

This apartment is located in one of the best area in VA/DC and it has responsible maintenance. The apartment is well-maintained but it is made of wood and it makes a lot of noise when walking.

Thank you for your review of our community. We agree that our location is second to none! You are correct that the concrete areas of our community are better for noise prevention than the wooden areas. Stop by the office anytime and we can explore apartment options in our concrete areas. I've been living here a couple of months now and I love it. Staff and neighbors are very friendly. The location is wonderful. You can walk pretty much anywhere - Harris Teeter, Shirlington Public Library, a variety of restaurants and shops. The Shirlington Bus Station is also right next door. During the week the apartment complex provides a free shuttle to the pentagon city metro station. The neighborhood and apartment complex are extremely dog friendly. The dog park is a very short walk away and there are several running/biking trails nearby. The apartment itself is nice. The balconies are very large and the units are in good condition. The kitchens aren't the most up-to-date but the apartment overall is really cute. I have a one bedroom/one bathroom and I like that there are two separate entrances to the bathroom (one from the bedroom and another off the main room) so guests don't have to go through my bedroom to use the bathroom. My apartment is in the concrete section which i believe is a little newer. It's very quiet, and I never hears my neighbors. The pool is large with plenty of pool chairs. The gym is really nice - it's a good size and really well air conditioned. They even have racquetball courts. It is a bit pricey but well worth it for all you get. The only way I would consider moving is if I find something a little cheaper nearby. Otherwise I'll probably end up resigning next year.

I moved here in October and just love it here! I wasn't familiar with the area, so I love that I am in such a walkable area. There is literally everything to do within the whole neighborhood. The apartment itself is great. Full size washer and dryer in my apartment. I lived at other places where it came with the hookups, but not the washer and dryer itself, so this is really nice. I have a large balcony too which is hard to find in this area. It is an older building, but Windsor is doing some nice renovations to keep it fresh and updated. The staff is very friendly. Whenever I stop in I am always greeted with a smile and they help me with anything I need. Overall, I am very happy here!
