Brookland is located between Michigan Avenue and Rhode Island Avenue, with the Edgewood neighborhood to the west and Woodbridge to the east. Nicknamed "Little Rome," Brookland is home to several Catholic churches, the Saint John Paul II National Shrine, and the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land in America. Just outside of the neighborhood, you'll find the Catholic University of America and the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Brookland is increasing in popularity with residents. It is ideally located just over three miles northeast of downtown and contains the Brookland-CUA Metro station for easy commutes.
With a variety of restaurants, bars, and shops located in the neighborhood -- especially along 12th Street, Brookland offers some great destinations. After choosing your Brookland apartment, be sure to visit the galleries at the Arts Walk at Monroe Street Market, or catch a performance at the Dance Place.

This is a really good place if you're finding a place to stay in dc, especially as a college student in my experience. The prices were very reasonable for the quality of apartment we got. Most of all, they have amazing customer service. Always willing to help and answer whatever questions you may have. A special shoutout to Mr. Douglas.

The Cloisters is a great place to reside. Prior to me submitted an application at the Cloisters, i visited many Apmts. One of the main reasons why I was drawn to apply was the customer service of the leasing personals. One person that i would like to highlight is Rhonda, from the moment she picked the phone up, her genuine personally was so pleasant. She made the entire process stress free and fun. My apmt is very beautiful and spacious. The buildings are very beautiful at a great location. I have a wonderful experience so far. Thanks to the Cloisters team.

I contacted Ms.Nesbitt for an application and within 2 days she walked me through the process and got me approved with NO HASSLE I see a lot of negative feedback I’m not sure why! But my experience was good every call or email was quick response even on her off day she stayed in contact with me I have to say Ms.Nesbitt gets the job done and does it well and very professional !!! Made my experience easy and stress free
The property management here is horrible. The apartments are infested with mice, centipedes, spiders and mold. They refuse to fix our broken washing machine and also left us with broken air conditioning for 3 weeks in the summer. DO NOT MOVE HERE. The buildings are in horrible condition and the trash compactors often break down, leaving garbage sitting outside the dumps. Property management does little to fix or address concerns, often just choosing to put a bandaid on a much larger issue.
You will not be able to sleep if you live here. I have lived here for 18 months, and during that time I have contacted security and the police at least 1 time per week. Before I took over the lease, the tenant in my room also contacted the police a number of times, so I know it's not just me overreacting. There is a frat house atmosphere in this apartment complex. People screaming drunkenly off of balconies at 2am on a Wednesday night. People urinating off their balcony. Every Sunday is a dance party. This isn't only my upstairs neighbors, but also next door and the folks below me. When I first moved in, I wrote to the leasing office letting them know what had been going on. When I told the front office I am moving out, and the reason why, they feigned ignorance. The price for the space is cheap, but you should ask yourself why. Don't make the mistake I did, and not realize that you get what you pay for. While we have held this lease, the rent has increased 7% year-over-year, but the grounds have not been improved, regularly there is trash in the hallway, but the worst problem is the lack of rest.
We had just moved to DC and been looking for an apartment for 3 weeks when we found this place. We had a couple friends living here who recommended we check it out. 1. It is metro accessible. There is about a 12 minute walk to the metro. And at least 6 buses with in a block or so. H1, H2, H3, H4, and 80 pick up in front of the complex. D8 is around the corner. 2. There are 2 closets in the bedroom. There is a washer/dryer in unit. It has one of the biggest kitchens I have seen in the area. It is an open floor plan style. We get a lot of natural light and have a wall of floor to ceiling mirrors in the living room. 3. Maintenance responds to requests in a timely manner and fixes things as soon as they can even if they have to order parts. Security is on site and available to call if you get locked out or need to report something. He is the nicest guy. 4. The buildings have secure key fob entry. There is off street parking. You get all of the wonderful things listed above for a decent price in a pretty cool neighborhood. There is a Giant and Yes! Organic Market nearby. I highly recommend checking this place out.
The Cloisters offer a park-like escape from the bustle of downtown DC while remaining easily accessible to all that the city has to offer. The buildings and property are well maintained despite their age and management is very responsive to resident concerns. Any maintenance issues are resolved within 1-2 business days and the online resident portal makes paying rent and submitting requests easy. In addition to the patio or balcony that each apartment is equipped with there are common areas outdoors with grills and picnic tables that are great for hosting small events. 10 minute walk to the metro and revitalized Monroe Street Market.
Location, location, location that's what it's all about when you choose to live in DC proper. The Cloisters Apartments are convenient, spacious, affordable and offers easy metro access. I have lived here for 4 years and love it! The leasing office staff and maintenance personnel are professional and efficient; they will even change the battery in your smoke detector! My lease is up in December...I will renew for another year. You owe it to yourself to visit.
The apartment itself is great! Big rooms, very spacious, nice kitchens. Overall very nice! Management is okay and sometimes is a little slow to respond to requests. There is a gym onsite but it is pretty small. The location isn't great for night life or grabbing a bite to eat if you don't have a car, but there is free parking! All and all a great place to live and very nice apartment for the cost.
