Nestled on the coast of the Massachusetts Bay, South Shore contains many beaches, wooded green spaces, and modern conveniences.
Locals prefer to shop for fresh produce at the Weir River Farm Market, which is just a short drive from World’s End Park. This park has amazing views of the Boston skyline and miles of scenic trails.
The South Shore’s wooded areas provide residents a natural setting near historic harbor sites and Rexhame Beach. Hatherly Country Club calls this neighborhood home, and residents can commute with ease thanks to an abundance of Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority train stations. South Shore is about one hour from Boston-Logan International Airport.

Property Ratings at The Commons at SouthField
There are nicer places to live in the area for comparable rent. Although there are some redeeming qualities, they do not outweigh the negative aspects of this property. The Union Point community is great - safe, plenty of green space/sidewalks. Unfortunately there’s a lot of speeding/drag racing on the main road, and dog poop everywhere. There is plenty of resident parking but limited guest parking. There’s snow removal, but the sidewalks around the apartments are inconsistently salted/shoveled so are often very slippery. The street/parking lot lights are out more often than not in certain areas, which leads to several areas being pitch black at night, and you need a flashlight (since at least 2019 despite mgmt, the town, and the neighborhood assoc. being made aware by multiple residents). You cannot see if there‘a a person or animal until you’re on top of them which is very creepy. Utilities in the community are high. The apartment that we lived in appeared average at first but once we moved in, realized that no turnover had been done - it was filthy, and the appliances were either moldy, rusty or broken. During the short time we were there we experienced far too many problems to list. We were repeatedly gaslighted about our issues that were objectively concerning (e.g. re: moldy fridge on move in day, we were told “That’s not as much as I expected. You know, cheese is mold.”, or that the AC was not working because we used the fan). The office staff never answer the phone (even when they are all sitting there with no clients). The maintenance staff John, Stefan, and Mario are lovely, professional and competent but are hindered by working in a terrible system, and the regional manager Cecelia was very responsive and at least attempted to help us. She did not pretend that our situation was acceptable, which was refreshing. These were the only staff who made our experience slightly less horrible. The management company was unable to resolve multiple serious issues in a satisfactory manner, upper management agreed that our situation was unacceptable and to their credit we were ultimately permitted to leave. My hope is that our experience will create change for future residents, but the likelihood of that is probably low, which is why I chose to write this review in hopes that someone else can avoid a similar headache. We’re now at a property that has reminded us that apartment living doesn’t have to be a bad experience, and can even be a good experience.

We are saddened by your review. It is always our hope that our residents feel well cared for and we are disappointed to hear that we may have fallen through with that in your case. Thank you for providing us with valuable information on how we can better our services for our current and future residents and we wish you all the very best in your new adventures!
I have been living in this complex for about 2 years now and ive never come across an apartment complex that im unable to change my own lightbulbs and/or access my own breaker. putting in a maintenance request for anything electrical has taken days for anyone to respond, and calling the leasing office asking for help almost always leads to them saying “theyre busy.” the commons have switched management numerous times causing rent, utilities and other amenities to raise in price. consistently hearing people run up and down the halls banging on the walls. the walls and floors are so thin you can hear everything your neighbors are doing. my building is always unlocked for whatever reason, so the past few times i ordered doordash theyve come directly up to my door and thats so unsafe!! this place CLAIMS to be “pet friendly” but will use unsafe salt for snow that rips apart my dogs paw pads, along with this place having breed restrictions. that is NOT pet friendly. ive been here for about two years and have stayed because of trying to save finances but being unable to because of the commons raising their pricing, excited to move out this summer!!

Thank you for sharing with us! We're so glad you can count on us to help you feel at home here. We're honored!
It is in a great location - a 7 min walk to the commuter rail to Boston, it is a new build with a beautiful pool, brand new gym and great appliances. The Management company recently changed and they are moving forward with many plans that were put on hold. Quiet area, lots of green space and jogging paths. Great for kids and people with an active life style.
Beautiful quiet apartment complex with some of the best amenities in the area. From deluxe common spaces to a salt water pool and state of the art fitness center this place has everything you need and more. For the outdoor enthusiast there are trails and woods to ride you bike or walk your dog. We moved here 2 years ago and it was the best decision we've made. The commuter rail is just steps away to take you into the greatest city in the country.
Amazing place to live. Built on a former air base, there are perfect views of the runway, very secure. Very neat common areas with reliable wi-fi and tv, very close to commuter rail to Boston.
this is a wonderful apartments , the architecture is awesome has everything that we need to live well such as fitness area , with beautiful green areas to enjoy every single days , near a restaurants, hospitals , stores, convenience stores, supermarket and xpressways, 20 minutes for Boston capital.
I like my apartment a lot. It is very spacious and it is a great community. It is very dog friendly, and my dog Jax loves it! It is only one bed room though, and I would prefer a 2 bedroom. Also, it is not as close to public transportation as I would like it to be. Overall it is a great apt. though. It has a gym and a community room that I enjoy a lot. The neighbors are good people and management/maintenance do a good job keeping everything satisfactory.
