Located four miles east of downtown Portland, North Tabor has a strong sense of community and a unique atmosphere. While Portland's planned communities typically have a consistent home style, take a trip through this neighborhood and you can see bungalows, classic Victorian homes, and new apartment buildings all in close proximity to each other. Pick a place close to Glisan Street if you like being close to the action, as that popular street features Seven Virtues, one of this area's premier coffeehouses, and the O'Neill Public House, a great place to grab a Black and Tan.
North Tabor keeps residents well-connected to the rest of Portland, as it has excellent public transportation and close proximity to Interstate 84. Despite those transportation options, the neighborhood stays fairly peaceful and quiet, so you can come home and relax after a long day.

Hi, We appreciate your positive feedback about our location. It's wonderful to know that you find our proximity to essential amenities beneficial. Kind regards, The Commons Apartments Management Team
We have lived here for almost 15 years. Most of them good experiences. The location is excellent, close to Mass transit and walking distance to grocery store. Homeless getting into the building continues to be a problem. But it is also a problem all over the Portland area. We could use more video cameras so that Managment can see all the areas of our building.

It doesn't handle emergency well. The staff was mediocre at best. It made me feel like I didn't deserve 30 minutes of their time.
Maintenance here is great! The halls are maintained well and any issues I have inside my apartment are taken care of quickly. All staff here are genuinely concerned to provide a healthy and comfortable home for their residents.
Great place to live, wish that the no smoking in your apartment's rules were enforced.
Great location, close to transportation and walking distance to grocery store.
It is a great location, close to grocery stores and public transportation. Rent prices are reasonable for the location and what you get..
The Commons has been our home for close to ten years. We have met great friends here. And the staff has been attentive and excellent at solving issues we have had with our appliances, and feel we are treated as family and are listened to and respected as elder resident tenants. If we have a problem, we know where to go and feel confident our community staff memebers will hear us out and try to resolve any issues we are encountering, swiftly and without judgement..
Nice apartments floor plans use space well. Good value for the money that they are renting at. Nice area near store and MAX and bus lines.
Location, location, location. I like living here.
Management office has always been cordial when approached. Maintenance has always been friendly and helpful, addressing our concerns in a timely manner.
The staff and maintenance crew is awesome. I recommend it to all my friends and family and asked them to rent here.
Some of the residents let their dogs urinate going down the hallways in the common areas and the elevators. Overall the building is kept clean and repairs are usually done in a timely manner manner. The staff in the office are usually friendly and helpful if sometimes a little slow getting back to your concerns. It is also hard to know the staff since at the front desk there's always someone new it seems.
Overall the Commons is a good place to live. The Manager Tamara is very nice and tries to keep it a nice place to live. Unfortunatly like many places the Security cameras are terrible and the Homeless keep getting into our secured building. But that happens to most buildings now days. Convienient location and good value for you apartment. Most of the Tennants are very nice.
The Commons staff are professional and friendly. They gave me hope not to worrry about getting an apt here. I would highly recommend a friend here where they would feel at home and most of all no stressor worries because they get the job done with no hesitation. I love it here !!
Overall I enjoy living here, the staff is friendly and professional. I had an accident in my home and paramedics had to be called, How I was helped prior to the EMT arriving by the staff was terrific. I get teary-eyed just thinking about it. I appreciate the hardworking staff and the property reflects that.
I have had very positive experiences when maintenance was needed to the apartment. The issues were addressed quickly. Morgan has been very professional about resolving issues, and very helpful with any follow-up needed. I feel confident when I ask for assistance at the management office.
I have lived in my apartment in the senior building, The Commons, for nearly 20 years. Since Security Properties Residential bought The Commons it has been much improved. The managers are very nice, the grounds and the recycling/trash room are kept neat, maintenance requests for my apartment are quickly taken care of. It's close to public transit, I love living here.
After having to downsize from 2400 sq ft of living space to 535 sq ft, I tell my family and friends just how satisfied I am with the layout of my apartment I have and all but one of my children have visited to check it over. My family seems to be satisfied as well.
A nice place to live. Except the parking lot management opens to the public during the day making it almost impossible to find a parking space if you leave for an errand and return. Caregivers and visitors take the way to few spots we have. Our parking lot should be closed to all but residents all the time and tow companies should enforce it. Otherwise nice place to live.
Only move here if you don't mind being constantly presented with letters posted to your door about things management intends to do to you whether you want the things changed out, worked on, nailed shut, or not. Then of course, we have the constant rent raise to cover the "improvements" that aren't really improvements.
Good place to live, but no smoking in your apartment rules are not enforced by residents management.
I have lived in The Commons for close to 20 years. Since Security Properties Residential has taken over, living conditions have vastly improved.
The office staff as well as maintenance never disappoints. When I had an issue, it was taken care of quickly and professionally.
Safe and mostly quiet. Maitanence is really fast and good
Good location, close to banks and stores. Walking distance to mass transit. Overall nice place to live.
Good place to live and a good price for location close to stores and transportation.
