Property Ratings at The Continental
I very recently exchanged emails with the leasing office and rent prices are almost $200 more than what is listed here despite being “updated” just hours before.
This place has become considerably worse since the new management came. They don’t respond to phone calls, emails and the office is always closed despite there being someone in there acting as if they’re not. Maintenance requests get ignored. My fridge wasn’t cooling for 3 days, all food spoiled and couldn’t get ahold of anyone then was told to contact my renters insurance for compensation? Ridiculous. The roach problem is horrible as well. We find roaches coming in our apartment from the neighbors weekly. As well as sewer roaches that come up the sinks and bathtub. The sidewalks are covered in them and crawling at night. They decided to remodel and completely removed any grass, so now the dogs are supposed to go to the bathroom on sand and bark?! Let’s not get started on the parking situation. So many residents are infuriated that they were put on a “list” for a second parking spot, waited for the parking “reconstruction” to be done and then we all received letters that they’re now doing a raffle? These guys can’t keep their word. They also then decided to move everyone’s spots further from their apartments but let certain people that have lived here longer, keep theirs. And there’s almost never any guest parking because the people with multiple cars leave them there and don’t get towed. To the management: Instead of worrying about removing grass, maybe fix and clean the moldy washers you guys expect people to pay for. If this doesn’t give you enough reasons to not move here, come see for yourself.
I lived here for one year, and am happy to no longer have to deal with this place. The neighbors are so fantastic, but that's the best thing I can say about this place. They have cycles of roach infestations that they take way too long to do anything about, the management team never answers their phones or returns calls, they're incredibly rude whenever I do get through to them, and nobody seems to want to actually do their job. Good luck getting anything fixed either, because they'll tell you it's taken care of, and then you won't hear about it again. There's no guest parking, the parking area isn't fully gated, and on more than one occasion, homeless people have wandered in and slept in the lot or dug through the trash. Someone who doesn't even live here, even came and slept drunk in front of my UPSTAIRS door! The space is nice to look at, but it's way too expensive for how small the place is and for how little effort is put into making this a home.
After staying here for 1.5 years, i have a long list of things I will never accept again. Any “repairs” made were very cheaply done. They had literally painted over about 5 spiders upon my move in. There was a cockroach infestation for over a year, which they weren’t proactive about whatsoever. There is 0 parking spots for guests, and my reserved parking was always taken, leaving me walking down a sketchy street in the dark. The street itself is very loud, and there are tons of homeless & drug addicts who will come into the facility and pass out wherever & go through the trash. Upon leaving, i left my unit spotless. I brought in a professional and everything. They won’t even respond to me about my deposit now. As a woman, especially one who lived alone, run away from this place.
These are well maintained and affordable apartments with lots of amenities. But really, what puts them in a premier class is the friendly, responsive and responsible manager. That makes all the difference.
My room mate and I lived at these apartments for 1 year. We gave proper notice and left the apartment clean. Prior to the inspection the apt manager told me that we had to pay a professional cleaning agency that is licensed. He stated the apt needed to be sanitized properly. After pointing out the CA laws that protect tenant/landlords and the use of security deposit moneys on page 53 of this document he agreed to let us clean the apartment. Which was cleaner than when we moved in. After the inspection he sent the check which was received approximately 20 days after the inspection. There were almost $500 dollars deducted. I contacted the apartment manager again on June 23 to discuss these deductions and he stated that we didn't pay our utilities for 2 of the months. After discussion and research he agreed to return the inaccurate charges. This complex is not honorable and will take advantage of you if they can. I have made several attempts to get this resolved and we are still waiting for the remainder of our monies on July 18. Our move out was May 31. The apartments themselves are older and run down. We received multiple messages from management stating upgrades were on the way however we never witnessed these things. If you have to rent from this community make sure you read and know your tenant rights in Ca. Get everything in writing and don't settle for less. To review the property these apartments are older with minimal upgrades done over the past couple years. Currently the pool light that goes in the pool is laying on the side, a lot of the trees were cut down last year with no replacements, the patios remain the same after an inspection last year revealed they needed to by replaced, the security gate rarely works leaving the place insecure at night and maintenance requests were not completed timely or completely. The receptionists is very kind and does what she can under these conditions. Their were several maintenance men during the year that we lived here it seems they have difficulty keeping someone in this position. We could often here our neighbors at night especially on the weekends. The laundry room was broken into at least 3 times and vandalized while we lived there. It was several weeks before they replaced the dryers. This left 3 dryers for everyone to use. The apartment itself was spacious and the patios were large enough for me to have my plants. None of the appliances in our apartment were newer than 10 years at best guess.
I love my apt.s . They are pet friendly and my babies can be with me. After being homeless over 10yrs. living here is a close second to heaven. They are a little old and need a little updating but they take good care of them. They are in a good location and the people are very friendly there. Don't have any troubles and people mind their own business. I feel safe and I can rest my head every night knowing I'll be safe and unharmed. I would be on the street again if I didn't have this apt.
