The Continental Apartments at Vermont Place are located on Meridian Street, just a few blocks north of Monument Circle. This historical landmark has been completely renovated with a focus to maintain the historical context of the building, while incorporating modern luxuries. Originally constructed as the Spink Arms Hotel in 1922 and later remodeled in the 1950s as the Continental Hotel, Continental Towers offers 124 luxury apartments in the heart of vibrant downtown Indianapolis. Elegant foyers, controlled access, and optional garage parking are just a few of the features you can expect at The Continental. The Blacherne Apartments at Vermont Place are attached to the Continental. Originally constructed by General Lew Wallace, author of Ben Hur, The Blacherne was completed in 1896 as a lavish apartment building on a scale Indianapolis had not yet seen. The Blacherne now houses 68 completely renovated apartments and 3 commercial suites. Some of the features of these apartments include wood flooring, stainless steel appliances, and garage parking. Located just north of the Vermont Place apartments in the heart of downtown Indianapolis are The Turnverein Apartments. Constructed in 1914 as The Independent Turnverein, this historic building was originally a German Athletic Club. During a 1980 renovation, a center atrium was added and the original ball room, natatorium, and gymnasium were turned into a full sized penthouse and 50 apartments. Many of these apartments still boast original stained glass windows and walnut woodwork. The Turnverein was added to the National Register of Historic places in 1983 and stands out as one of Indianapolis’ finest addresses.

Indianapolis is the thriving capital city of the state of Indiana — as well as the most populated. Nicknamed the Crossroads of America, Indianapolis is the well-known center for several major interstates that connect locals to the rest of the country. This commuter-friendly city is also home to the Indianapolis International Airport, a modern hub for national and international travelers. With an abundance of affordable apartments for rent, the city of Indianapolis has more than enough to offer both its residents and visitors alike.
Residents can enjoy a performance from the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra at Hilbert Circle Theatre, cheer on the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium, and peruse the stores in Circle Centre Mall. Locals enjoy admiring the wildlife at the Indianapolis Zoo, exploring the exhibitions at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, and hiking the trails at Eagle Creek Park.

Property Ratings at The Continental Towers at Vermont Place
I'm writing here because I definitely relied on these reviews when I moved to Indy. This complex has the best location- it's in walking distance to Mass Ave, Monument Circle, the Mall, the IUPUI campus, and so much more. I've never felt unsafe walking to or from my car at night, or in the surrounding area. The office staff is so nice and maintenance fixes problems right away. And the office is really good about notifying you when your packages arrive. For downsides, I'd say that parking is annoying. Either you can park in the surface lot or in the parking structure. The surface lot is free but you're not guaranteed a spot, so I pay $85 to have an assigned parking space in their structure. I don't mind too much because most monthly parking is going to cost over $100 if you're downtown. Also, the windows are kind of old and so my electric bill goes up a lot in the winter. I put those window insulator things on a couple of my windows and it did go down some. Overall, I would definitely recommend this complex if you're looking to live downtown.
I lived at the Continental for a year and had a one bedroom apartment on the 7th floor. The floorplan I had was the Ritz and it's about 850sqft. Let me tell you if you get this apartment your bedroom is massive. It was massive for me because I lived alone. I only had my bed and desk, and still had more than enough space. Apart from the bedroom, the location is basically in the heart of downtown you're close to everything and its one of the many reasons why I chose to live here.
The Continental Towers is such an amazing place to live. The staff is truly amazing. I lived there for 3 years with my wife and two daughters. Now you won't find any kids in the building now that we left, most likely. We were very sad to leave. The locations just can not be beat. It is located just blocks from everything Indy has to offer. Parking is available for free or paid garage parking. You probably won't need a car if you work downtown though. Just steps from all the restaurants, bars, and venues you want to visit. The Continental Towers is the place to be. The layouts are great for anyone from singles, to roommates, or even couples who might be expecting. I have two daughters that lived with us and they were all very comfortable all the time. You won't see any other kids, probably, but it goes to show that the place is the safest and best downtown.
I have lived at The Continental for over 4 years and it's been a great place to live. It's affordable, great square footage with functional layouts and good amenities. The staff are friendly and the maintenance requests are handled promptly. The location is incredible with easy access to restaurants, bars and local events that happen frequently. Easy recommendation for anyone looking to move to Downtown Indianapolis.
I have lived here for about 3 years now. Its a great apartment with a friendly helpful staff. I would recommend anyone wanting to move to downtown Indianapolis to look in to the Continental.
You won't find a better combination of price and location. Lived here several years and have never had any issues. Apartments are very spacious with plenty of natural light. The staff is friendly and helpful. Maintenance is quick. The parking situation is better than anywhere else I looked downtown. Continental has all the amenities I need. And again, the location is perfect. Close to Mass Ave., close to the canal, close to the circle and everything downtown. If you want to live in downtown Indy this is the first place you should look.
I love living here at the Continental! I feel like I get the most bang for my buck with a spacious apartment and living close to all down town has to offer. Highly recommend!
Great price for the location! You can walk (or BIRD) just about anywhere downtown. They have a friendly front office staff, however, it is difficult to catch them before they leave if you work late. If you're an IUPUI student then you won't have that issue. It is difficult to get a surface lot parking spot sometimes so I it may be worth paying for the covered garage spot. Overall, I am happy with my experience here.
I have lived here for several months after moving from California and I have nothing but good things to say! The management was incredibly gracious in assisting me with all kinds of challenges I faced in moving from out of state. They helped make it a smooth transition. I love my place, including the location, the layout of my apartment, and the price point. The amenities are excellent— laundry on site, indoor bike parking, inexpensive parking for my vehicle, lockers for the local drycleaner. I am so grateful to be in walking distance of downtown employment, entertainment and stores. The Continental is a great place to be!
Having lived here for more than 5 years (and lived at multiple downtown residences), this place is hands down my top recommendation if you're looking to live in downtown Indy. The price is extraordinarily reasonable given the amenities, the location is fantastic (central, with 5-10 minute walks to every hot spot downtown), and the staff is extremely friendly and always helpful. I'd highly recommend anyone looking to live in downtown Indy to check out this place.
I have lived here for a little over two years, both in a one bed and in a two bed and have loved both apartments. The views are amazing. Everything has great natural light and high ceilings, but adorable bay windows. The front office staff is extremely nice and helpful and same with the maintenance group. I have loved living here and would recommend it to anyone. The workout facility is also clean and very nice.
I have lived in Continental towers for about 4 months now and I have loved it so far! The location is very central to downtown Indy, and it has been a great first apartment after college. The staff is very attentive and willing to help with any questions you may have. The apartments are very “homey” compared to other apartment complex’s in downtown indy. Also one of the most affordable of its kind!
Great apartment and cheap for the area. Building is old but it adds to the charm. The only issue is that its expensive to heat.
