Mount Pleasant is just as delightful as it sounds. With seaside views near South Carolina’s coast, Mount Pleasant boasts a historic appeal with charming local businesses, friendly neighbors, and well-kept suburban streets. Mount Pleasant offers the ideal blend of modern apartment complexes and large, single-family homes on spacious lots. The winding roads of Mount Pleasant’s neighborhoods are wooded and family-friendly.
Casual shopping options are available at Mount Pleasant Towne Centre, and local breweries, burger joints, seafood staples, and Southern cooking are just a few of the food options in this seaside town. History looms over Mount Pleasant, and Boone Hall Plantation and Gardens is a great representation of this city’s history. On the coast, venture over to Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum, offering tours of a retired Naval aircraft carrier, destroyer, and submarine.

This complex just does not care about their residence. All the above referenced photos, must be photo shopped. Not worth it.
Property Manager at The Cooper, Responded To This Review
We apologize for your experience and take your concerns seriously. Thank you for bringing this to our attention; we are committed to improving. Please feel free to contact the leasing office to further discuss your concerns.
Look closely at the reviews and it's easy to see why the average is so high. The positive reviews were all written before the change in ownership. This was once a very nice community environment with capable, positive management. The drawn out demolition and renovation now underway is a very painful process to live through as a resident with unwelcome changes being made that make the apartments less livable with a significant increase in rent as the reward. The new ownership has taken the joy out of living here and we have seen amenities disappear and with a few retained amenities now causing significant additions to the rent. Management is slow, confusing, dishonest and usually not responsive. Do NOT move here!
They're currently redoing the exterior of the buildings. Parking lots are full of screws (I counted five in two parking spaces) and they drag all the old wood and nails and screws across the parking lot. Go figure. On top of that they rip the ext. wood off, wrap the exterior and then let it sit there for a couple weeks. Talk about poor management and disorganization. Great location but this place is a third class place that wants to be a first class place without the processes and management in place to accomplish it.
While location is fantastic, the recent change in ownership and the resulting change in local staff has been accompanied by poor communications, lack of professionalism, managerial incompetence, a total lack of responsiveness and a desperate attempt to increase revenue by suddenly raising rent and charging for amenities that were previously covered by the rent. The new owners came in with all sorts of promises to modernize and upgrade and many projects were started but almost all have stopped due to subcontractor failures and bankruptcies all because of poor due diligence on the part of the owners.
There are huge pest problems in several of the apartments. (bed bugs, termites, and flies). and also fire hazards that have not been addressed. Three fires in the last five years. The dog park seems to attract aggressive dogs. Only good thing about the apartment was the location.
It's not the most glamorous of places in Mt.Pleasant, but the area is safe, the schools are good, the area is nice, and the staff is great. It's the cheapest you will find in Mt. Pleasant and the apartment sizes are great. The exteriors do need a fresh coat of paint and landscaping could use more pazazz.
I have lived here for almost 6 months and it is great! I almost didn't move in because of the past bad reviews but it has changed management and they are nice, professional and responsive. And you simply can not get a better location for the price!! This is Tami in the 300 Building!
I have lived at Harbor Pointe for 3 years and I am 10 times happier here than my previous complex. The big difference here is my rent is less for more square footage. The water is included and so is trash and the amenities. We have an fitness room, a pool, tennis courts and a dog park. The proximity to any store you could need or eat out can't be topped. I love the police station being right across the street. We have a great manager that cares about the property and I don't feel like a number here. Come check it out. It's a great deal.
Please know that these apartments are FILLED with mold. We didn’t even have breathing problems while living there, it was so much worse. It cause migraines, tremors, neurological problems, you name it. If you decide to take the risk to live here, PLEASE please do research on how mold affects the body and the long term and permanent problems it causes the body. Management wouldn’t do anything about the mold during our tenancy. Low price and location are NOT worth your health, ever. We learned the hard way. We’ve been out for months and we are still extremely sick.
If I could give this place less than a star, you better believe I would. I have lived in this (horrible place) for FIVE YEARS, and they have made life miserable here every step of the way. I knew moving in that the apartments were not updated, and I was fine with that. What I did not know was that appliances would be in barely working order and that my air conditioner would break at least twice a year EVERY year that I've lived here. Maintenance is a nightmare. I'm sure it's not the maintenance guy's fault-- he seems cool-- but the office staff/management have told me on more than one occasion that I was not a priority. I could go into FAR more detail on the issues I have had during my time here, but honestly, it isn't worth any more of my time or energy. If you are thinking about moving to Harbor Pointe, DON'T. Pay $100-$200 more a month and live somewhere way better!
I have been here for a few months now and there has been a bug problem already. The lights flicker or don't even turn on. The walls are pealing and the ceiling has water damage. All the appliances are old and are slowly falling apart. The stairs leading up to the building are hazardous the grips on them have fallen and the lights on the outside patio in front of the front door barely work, so it's pitch black every now and then when you walk through the door at night. Overall it's not safe
Two years ago I let the temptation of the location lure me to Harbor Pointe. That was a big mistake. I wish I knew then what I know now. When we moved in the unit was in terrible condition, they had to steam the carpets twice and get the air ducts clean (took over 3 weeks) just to get the cigarette smell out. When we moved in there were nails, tacks and paint on the carpets. Within the first year of living there conditions worsened, siding rotted, air conditioner busting multiple times, mold growing on the bathroom ceilings. We were always diligent about placing work orders. Management/Ownership changed so we renewed our lease hoping things would improve. We were wrong. Our hot water heater busted in July, we put multiple work orders in & it wasn't until my boyfriend called reminding them that mold will grow under the carpets from the water they were sitting in, that they finally came to "fix" it. They fixed the heater, but just stuck a fan under the hallway section of the carpet, leaving dirty water puddling into our kitchen, and the living room to air dry. We had to move our furniture because the water from the carpets was causing the wood to rot. Point of story, now that we've moved out they are charging us for the carpet replacement, saying our dog caused the smell because he used the carpet as his bathroom.....which is not the case at all. He was trained prior to us moving there. Those who currently live there beware, they are searching for any extra penny they can get.
These apartments are less than adequate . Very nice landlord, but horrible service. Constant problems with plumbing, air conditioning, holes in ceiling, leaks, bugs, etc. Reports to maintenance take MONTHS for repair, yet late charges immediately. Please help. Thanks!
Less than 1 block to restaurants, starbucks, movie theaters. Safe secure community. Pool is immaculate. It feels like living in a hotel, the staff are so attentive and they remember your name immediately. Prices are the lowest in MTP. Tons of room, gorgeous floors. Dock, gazebo, and nosey turtles. Laundry room is good, uses cards you can load online. It is a big property, so location on the property is key. All facilities/amenities are on one block, so get close to that and it's perfect.
Overall a decent apartment. Nice family atmosphere and the location is very convenient both for work and leisure. One of my main attractions to the apartment was the fact it was newly renovated. While the new appliances are nice some were installed improperly, for example the new dishwasher leaked at first as well as the toilet. Not necessarily a deal breaker but you can definitely notice a little lack of quality by means of saving a buck. The apartment itself are decently sized and storage doesn't seem it would be an issue to most. Here are some features offered by the complex: 2 pools Laundry Tennis courts Public grills Lots of forestry and shade in the summer Minutes from the water/park/golf course Like I said overall a decent place and the new appliances are nice assuming they were installed properly. Just over time you'll notice some corners were cut and it impacts the overall quality of a great location. If location is your biggest requirement then I'd recommend. Also sometimes t-mobile service is hard to get in some areas (not sure if it's just t-mobile or if it's because it's a fairly forested area) just as a fyi
