Property Ratings at The Cornelius Apartments
The property manager and staffs seemed friendly at first; however, by the time you move out, they showed their real color. They don’t provide a clear move out instructions, yes they’ll gave you some “papers”. But when you asked them questions about the “instructions” and move out process, you get different answers; eventually you’ll be charged for this or that kind of fees. The laundry was so dirty, I even found lighters inside. Extremely unsafe elevators, always in the maintenance, sometimes it just stopped even when people were inside. Also, this property is at a dangerous area. Crazy people screamed, yelling, played music around the buildings in the middle of the night very often. Honestly , this is the worst rental experience ever. Wish I had never rent here, wasted of money.
I've been at the Cornelius for a year and have had a very positive experience so far; I plan to renew my lease for another year. The staff is very courteous and makes an effort to know you by name. They constantly seek feedback and look for ways to improve the residential experience. For a great Belltown location, I find the rate very competitive. The mailing system could improve, which the team is working to address.
If you decide to live her make sure you read the lease thoroughly also make sure that you get everything in writing that the leasing agents and especially the property manager say. They are a company that will try to take every last sent from you. I had to cancel my lease early and pay 2 months rent. I asked since I turned my notice in 4 days late not to be charged for those extra 4 days since I would be moving out at the end of the month. I received a confirmation email from the regional manager that that would be ok. I even tried to confirm with the on-site site multiple times that I would not be charged the 4 extra days. I also got the answer” as long as it is ok with the regional”. I paid my 2 months cancellation fee and asked again that I don’t pay those 4 extra days and they said it was fine. They actually just decided to take it out of my security deposit and when I called the property manager stated that the email from the regional manager didn’t “specifically” answer my questions to not pay for the 4 days. Then I emailed the regional manager to ask her what was going on and she blocked my email. It’s not about the money at this point it’s about how they lie to you to get your money so be very careful and get everything in writing. Also the 2 years that I lived there, there were 2 shootings and the hallway constantly smelled of urine. With all the other apartments in Seattle, for the price you can find better places to live
