Property Ratings at The Cove At Westland - Westland, MI
The apartment managers are only there to sell you a rental unit. Good luck addressing issues and problems. They won't answer or return calls or emails.
ROACHES!!!! If I can rate ZERO STARS I would !!!! Please please don’t move into these apartments. First night into the place I seen at lease 5 roaches in the hallway within 10 minutes of me moving some bags in. I was in total shock ! Went to the front office the next morning and the leasing manager was so rude and didn’t want to discuss this issue,so I took it upon myself to go door to door and ask other tenants how long this been a problem apparently people been dealing with this for a long time and pest control only came out one time ONE TIME!! Since I brought the problem to the leasing office (calling and calling) they sent someone the next morning only thing he did was lay traps down a week later another guy came and sprayed the corners in every area. Leasing office sends out letters saying “pest control” will be coming it’s been almost another month and still no one came. This place has roaches so bad the roaches are literally outside of the apartment building! OUTSIDE IN BROAD DAYLIGHT ! AND NIGHT TIME. Only thing they do is have someone outside doing yard work and vacuuming the building. WHAT LOOKS GOOD ISN’T ALWAYS GOOD!. Please don’t fall for the “price” or “good deals” no matter how much I clean a roach will always be seen. If I can give any advice it would be to always read the reviews and take them serious!! when doing a walk through ask questions! Look behind the refrigerator the stove look for any “pest droppings” go door to door and ask around about the apartment you think is to your liking . They’ll take your money and do nothing to help. Please don’t waste your time with these apartment. THIS IS A WARMING TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.
Black mold, water damage broken windows for years! My father stayed here and no repairs were ever done to his apartment the entire time he lived there. Please do your homework before moving here, if I could post the pictures on their review I would gladly do it, does not deserve the one star but I had to give a rating to place this review! BEWARE!!!
THIS PLACE IS DISGUSTING, UNPROFESSIONAL, NOT MAINTAINED AT ALL!!! They will lie and say “New management is fixing things” it’s a LIE!!!! No hot water, nothing gets fixed, halls are filthy, maintenance never comes out to fix things… Anyone can walk into your building because the intercom system does not work. Moving here was the worst mistake that I’ve made. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME and definitely NOT YOUR MONEY!!!!
Not the best at answering there phones, but keep calling. It’s worth it. I was able to come right in and they were ready for me. Showed me properties and had all the numbers printed out. Putting in the application on line wasn’t the easiest but once I was able to go in, they worked their hardest to get me approved. Communication is key, so happy I chose this place to live.
I have been living here for 11 years, long term one would say, and I really enjoy living here. The complex is close to freeways, stores and restaurants, and the location is perfect for summer activities as it is close to downtown Plymouth and Hines Drive/park. Newburgh Lake is also close by too for fishing. This complex was under two management companies in the past. Nowadays, it is under the LR Management Services Corporation and the new management is doing great work in order to fix all issues which was neglected by old managements, so that is making and reflecting a big change I have never seen in the past. The apartments are very spacious and comfortable and they are being upgraded, the swimming pool is opened and coming to be alive again after it was being closed for more than three years, the roads are maintained, the buildings are being repainted from outside, the hallways are cleaned properly, and more and more they will be noticed by your naked eyes when you stop by. This new management is very proactive at keeping their tenants happy, and the price is decent compared to the other higher-priced apartment complexes in the area. I would like to make a special mention here about Ms. CARLA, the property manager, at the leasing office who are very professional and helpful. She is friendly and very attentive to your needs, and she really strives for community-based communication with her residents. The staff is always friendly, courteous, and helpful. The fact that when I always walk in the leasing office I am immediately greeted by the staff. The maintenance workers do a great job if you have any issues in your apartment. Thanks a lot for everyone at the leasing office for making sure that your stay at the Newburgh Square Apartments is comfortable and peaceful. I just wanted to send my feedback out to others and tell this from my perspective.
Called the property several days in a row! No one ever answers the phone. When I went to the property… I was told they didn’t have to answer the phones. The model apt was disgusting. Toilets were brown and the hallways were filthy. I’m not gonna waste my time. The leasing agent wasn’t welcoming… Property wasn’t well maintained at all. No thank you!!!
8 days no hot Water !!! The leasing office or corporate has yet resolved it his issue. Ive been a resident here since 2018 the pools hasn’t been open since 2018 or the workout room ! Don’t waste your money !!!!!
The Back Side of the apartment complex has been out of HOT Water for 7 days . Management hasn’t emailed , called or posted notices regarding the water outage . Residents began talking amongst each other and that’s when we figured out our building HOT water was out . The corporate office isn’t responding to any of my calls and emails . The leasing office is using stall tactics and whenever I call to request to speak to management “ there in a meeting “ or there working on the issue . It’s been 7 day’s without hot water it doesn’t seem like this matter is being handled with a sense or urgency. Don’t MOVE Here!!!!!!
Maintenance is unreliable and some of the staff members shouldn’t even be working there. I currently still live her but will be moving within the next year. Great for first apartment tho
These people got some nerve. My boyfriend and I applied on June 12th, paid our $70 application fee, and Treasure told us she was gonna give us a call back by 5pm. I ended up calling back and she said “if you dont hear from me by 6, you’ll definitely hear from me Monday”. Well, that Monday came and still nothing. Actually, to this day we still haven’t got a call back from them. But its all good, we found a really nice apartment with some great customer service who called us back the same day like they said they would. If Newburgh Square wanted $70, they could have just said that. Their bedrooms aren’t even big enough for them to act like that. I dont see how they got 4 stars on here when they have like 2 on Google. Dont let these stars mislead you.
I really had a terrible experience with the office staff (Treasure). She sounded really sweet on the first day when i went to look at the apartments. I signed up on the same day even though she has not given me a definite move in date. They verbally promised me that i would get my apartment in 3-4 weeks.Forget about the apartment i have not even received a phone call on my move in date. I visited their office couple of times Treasure said the apartment was not ready yet and would get back to me on the next day. I waited for a week and never heard from them so i called them back, she asked me to come over on the same day with out a heads up. She told me that if i do not show up on the same day i would loose my $200 deposit and the apartment. Even though i was busy at my work i took some time and went to the office to do all the paper work. She didn't even show us minimum courtesy and was very rude with me and my friend who came to help me out. She said that she was doing a favor and when i asked her how is it a favor for me, when I was the one who waited for the apartment 4-5 weeks and was patient even though she never called me back or sent an email and when i signed up on the same day just believing her verbal promise. In addition, she asked me to pay $175 bond agreement (non-refundable) which she never told me when i was signing up for the apartment or should put a deposit of 2 and half month by their attitude i can easily tell that i will never get the deposit back (I have seen some reviews where they never got the refund). When i asked her these were not the terms which we discussed during my sign up she rudely said that i still have a choice not to take the lease. Am fine with the bond agreement i was ready to pay, i understand it might be some apartment policy rule. My issue was not with money, it was with the attitude shown to the tenants and this was before moving into the apartment. When i was at the office i saw one tenant complaining on the AC (Tenant was saying that her AC wasn't working in the apartment for a month and no one had shown up at her place to fix it even though she complained several times) After all this bitter experience i finally decided NOT TO MOVE IN to this apartment. I strongly recommend not to Move into this apartment. You will only hear a bunch of lies on the first day and they will definitely make sure that you regret your decision if you move in.
I lived here for nearly 5 years, and moved out on Jan 2019, they have sent out letter regarding my rental deposit. they should owe 500 $, till now they have not sent the check, no one is responding to my emails or phone calls. Regards Srinivas Medicharla
Long time resident who has had enjoyed the interactions with the management staff. The apartment manager Brittany, assistant manager Rhonda and the various office staff have been kind and response to the various issues that I have needed to get taken care of. Thank you all so much!
This is the first place I’ve lived in on my own & definitely was/is not worth it! Me and my husband have lived here for 2 years and have had the WORST experience possible. The first year of staying here, we had numerous problems. Our bathroom flooded twice due to “ plumbing issues”, so we were getting black fluid in our bathroom sink to where we couldn’t use it. It stayed like that for 2 days until maintenance finally came out. The door knobs on all of our closets fell right off of each of them once we opened them. A drawer in our kitchen completely fell apart and the maintenance man said he “ couldn’t fix it”. Our heat has flickered on and off constantly all winter long, and over the summer, our AC leaked everywhere to the point where our carpet in our room and parts of our living room were soaked. The pool they say they “ have” has been closed SINCE we moved in. They never have it open. Every time we have a maintenance issue, maintenance doesn’t show up until about 3-4 days later! Sometimes a week. Everytime we open our blinds, half of them fall off and break because this place doesn’t care enough to update anything. When we first moved into our ONE bedroom apartment here, it was one price, NOW we’re paying $100 more for the same apartment. The laundry rooms are disgusting, and the washers and dryers are tiny. There has been a huge hole in the parking lot where the cement fell through for a WHOLE YEAR that they put caution tape over and instead of fixing it, they replace the caution tape constantly if it blows away. Smoking in the apartments is illegal but BOTH neighbors across from us have done it and nobody seems to care. Somebody has also broken into our storage unit and stole half of my daughters stuff. I wouldn’t recommend this place to absolutely anyone.
They wont fix my broken AC, despite days still scheduled to be 80° , and they've been denying the problem exists for weeks now. 50 characters isn't enough to tell you how poor the maintenance is, or how scummy the halls are, or how rude the staff is. Do yourself a favour, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE if you have any desire to live comfortably or be treated with respect.
I have stayed here going on 2 years maintenance doesn’t fix around the community the lighting has been out leading up to my building and on then 3rd floor I can’t see the key hole to enter my door at night and can’t see who’s knocking after dark! Very dangerous! Its embarrassing! The leasing office has given me the run around about fixing things. The POOL HASNT BEEN OPEN IN 2! Years.! Neither has the clubhouse (can’t utilize) I pay for these amenities that are not available since living here.!there is a unit whose door knob has been off the building. I also paid a 200 non-refundable maintenance fee but can’t get anything fixed.
The staff is nice but they only had the pool open for around 2 weeks out the whole summer they don’t give out fitness room keys th u don’t keep up the property I didn’t need a key to get in my building front or back. I was told that Ipaid a security deposit but when it was time to get it back they said it was “last month rent” so I couldn’t get my money back and they had awful communication with me about my security deposit. Avoid at all cost

I am looking for an apartment, and I met the staff of the leasing office they are very nice and helpful.
Do not move here Staff is very bad & no cleaning in common area bad management. Staff is not serious about problem. My work order from last four month still open. All problem
I've been year since November 2016. My experience here has been awful. Rent is extremly high. They promised me new appliances and carpet and I have not yet received. My bathroom ceiling over the tub has been leaking since February, have not fixed it only replaster it. Neither bathroom stoppers work sink or tub. Maintenance shows up 2 weeks later and still don't fix the problem. I can go and on about the issues but don't have the time . Plwase save yourself the hassel and don't move here.
I am current resident and we live there for almost 2 years. manangement is terrible...no timely maintainence, very hard to reach front office, during the call they take all information promptly and no action further... if I call again I need to repeat all discussion from zero.. they dont know to handle current customers... These guyz are clever enough to change name of the community from SCOTSDALE APTS to NEWBURGH SQUARE APTS for the reason of bad reputation from the public. Wait and watch they ll soon change the name from NEWBURGH to something else. Don't repeatedly cheat people Very very poor
WORST! Don't make a mistake for saving some money.
The management of this complex is absolutely horrible. For the second year in a row, the air conditioning in my unit has gone out for weeks. This time, it has been out for close to 8 weeks. Management seems completely unconcerned. My calls are answered with, "Oh, I thought that was fixed." "Oh, I thought we sent someone out." They have sent a couple of maintenance guys out, but they have absolutely no clue how to fix the problem. Last year, all of the lights were out in our hallway for over two months, which is a significant security issue, particularly for people coming home later in the evening. The complex is fairly nice and very centrally located, but with this management team I would not even give it one star (except I cannot enter my comment without at least one star).
As of 6/15/17 the pool is not open because of "licensing" problems, yet the pool is advertised on their site as an amenity. Took almost a year to get AC replaced. Maintenance is the absolute worst I've ever seen; never fixes anything in a reasonable time. Weeds growing everywhere and are killing the bushes. The staff is always new, it's a revolving door of new employees, and getting answers to anything is a hassle. The management and Ressco are just terrible. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
I moved here with my boyfriend a few months ago. Our experience has been exceptional from the start. The staff has been friendly and helpful every step of the way. The maintenance crew is quick and effective and I have never out of any apartment I have lived in had such friendly and considerate neighbors. I now know most of the people in my building and it gives me a lot of peace of mind when I am home alone. Both my boyfriend and I highly recommend Newburgh Square Apartments.
I'll keep this short and sweet...our experience here declined RAPIDLY when the new management company took over. The condition of the property, and our building in particular, are bad. There are several common area light fixtures and door knobs that have been untouched by maintenance (even though they've been around the building several times) for months now. The building is supposed to be secured entry, but one side doesn't even have a door knob in it. Twice I have walked in to kids sleeping on the stairs. The grass is littered with trash and animal feces from residents not picking up after their pets. The residents are polite but noisy, anti-social, and constantly cooking very strong-odored meals. And probably worst of all, upon move out I left a few sentimental items behind (100% my fault). I called a day or two after move out and asked a leasing office employee (Faye) if they could be set aside for us to return and pick them up. She advised she would leave a note for the walk-through and have them held. We couldn't reach the office for a week or so, and when we finally did, she claimed she had no knowledge of the conversation and fed me some scripted lines about "once you move out, your belongings are ours". So, not too thrilled about being lied to. Overall, with all of the other apartment options around, do yourself a favor and skip over this one. I am not one to complain, but I felt compelled to write a poor review for my experience here. I miss the old leasing company, and am glad I got out when I did. Do yourself a favor and heed our warnings on here, this complex is NOT what they say it is.
THIS PLACE IS TRYING TO CHANGE ITS NAME TO NEWBURGH SQUARE APARTMENTS TO GET AWAY FROM BAD REVIEWS! Under Ressco property management this year, the following has happened: -an entire summer on the 3rd floor without AC, and almost daily back and forth with management and maintenance about it, with no result. It is November; AC has never been repaired. -any maintenance issue is either ignored, or not completed. Maintenance has come several times for a simple drain clog and it's still not fixed. Oven died and 5 days later it is still not repaired. -maintenance changed the lock on the exterior entry door without informing any tenants or giving them a new key. When told that a new key was needed, they seemed surprised. They are incompetent, clueless, and simply don't care about their job. -good luck getting through to emergency maintenance, they never answer and the voice mailbox is full. -turnaround of staff is frequent. There is always someone new who doesn't know what they are doing.
I am current resident and we live there for almost 5 years. New manangement is terrible... no lawn watering... no timely maintainence, very hard to reach front office, during the call they take all information promptly and no action further... if I call again I need to repeat all discussion from zero.. they dont know to handle current customers...
The apartments are old and outdated. You can't get anything fixed/ upgraded, yet they want to increase rent every year. The new management is horrible! The air conditioners leak and takes forever to get fixed. The units leak. Our front door was broken for anyone to enter for months. There is currently a hole and leak in our entrance way with a bucket to catch the drip, which has been there about a month now. My apartment had a leak which turned into mold, which was finally taken care of only after I had to get really nasty with maintenance. They pretty much half cleaned the carpet after people were walking back and forth on the molded carpet, which I had to repeatedly ask for the moldy padding under the carpet to be changed. It's smelly and disgusting. Couldn't even eat in this apartment for a few days. Maintenance is a joke. The apartments are disgusting and embarrassing! Please save yourself the problem!!!!!!
I wouldn't even give them one star. This place has been a disaster since the new management company has taken over. Used to be a good place to live and good staff, now the grounds are horrific and the apartments are not maintained. They increased everyones rent by $100-200 without notice, which I believe is illegal. The staff is rude and uneducated. I don't believe one of them has ever read a rental contract before. They just hand you 100 pages of paperwork to go through without explaining what it is you are signing. If you have a maintenance issue you better get it fixed yourself because it takes at least a month for them to come and they might be in your place more than once to fix it. Tracking around dirt and leaving messes that you have to clean up. There are way better apartments around the area for this kind of money. Don't even bother with this place.
We have lived here for nearly 5 years, and the longer I live here, the more I think, it's time to move. We live on the 3rd floor, and the first issue is that ANYTIME that both us and the neighbor runs the bath, our water always completely shuts off. If I am in the middle of a shower, and the neighbor turns on their water, ours cuts off and I am stuck waiting on them to turn their water off, in order to gain the water pressure back. Next, approximately May 2016 the apartment moved under new management. In June 2016 we noticed that our air conditioning was not working. My husband called the leasing office, to make a work order, which we later found out the staff never actually put the order in. After constant calls and follow-up it is now 7-12-16, and the air still is not fixed, when I was told by the apartment manager that someone would be out on today (7-12-16) to fix it. We have went through nearly some of the hottest days of summer with no air conditioning. I am no longer interested in living here and would not refer anyone else to this property after the management has changed. This place sucks.
The apartment is comfortable but when it comes to maintenance taking care of a problem they slack at it badly. I'm still waiting on my shower room walls to be cleaned from a complaint I did last month.
The property is a bit outdated, but you get a lot for your money!
