There's much more to Champaign's sister city of Urbana than you might think. It is a lively college town, home to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, it has a long and fascinating history, and it is family-friendly and beautiful. While it is usually tied to its next-door twin, Urbana stands out on its own -- Downtown Urbana is the city hub, home to Market at the Square, a farmers market that began in 1979. The historic downtown features historic architecture, bike lanes (and plenty of bike racks), sidewalk cafes, period lighting, and a wide variety of shops and restaurants.
In addition to the university, Urbana is home to the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology, a research institute located on the university's campus. The neighborhood attracts those with children, thanks to its top-ranking schools, and it features beautiful parks, such as Crystal Lake Park and Meadowbrook Park.

Property Ratings at The Cove
It's okay if you have low expectations. Most of the Maintenance requests are responded to quickly but there are still a lot of problems. My sink would leak then it would be fixed. Then leak again. This would happen 3 or 4 times. There are problems with the outlets as well. However, the in-unit laundry is nice and convenient. However, no dishwasher which does drive down the price. Good space with the price of the rent. Noise is low, though occasionally there will be loud arguments/partying but that is not very often at all. The parking lot is beat up pretty bad but acceptable. Really like the tall fence that provides good safety and privacy. The gate is a little annoying because you have to physically walk out there to let people in, but does provide another level of safety if that is your concern. I feel fairly safe.
I do not recommend living here. The only benefit is that you are allowed to have a dog with no monthly pet fees (after a $200 one time fee). The building is old (even the supposedly updated units) there is a bug problem, there is a plumbing problem, the gate in the "gated community" is often left up or broken, the internet is slow and often doesn't work especially if someone is gaming, the walls are thin, the clubhouse is in disrepair and the equipment is broken (and there is never anything to clean the machines with - GROSS), the AC unit is not appropriately installed and there is a gap to the outside (so pretty high electricity bills in the summer and winter), the parking lot is littered with potholes, giant rocks from the crumbling pavement and garbage, and to top it all off management is dishonest. If you do make the mistake of living here despite all of the problems (I stayed for 3 years like an idiot) make sure you have management do a walkthrough with you before you leave as they will charge ridiculous fees for intangible things and it will be your word against theirs (and all the people who work for them and are paid to agree) in court.
