Property Ratings at The Crossing at Barry Road
I like living here, the staffing remarkable and if any issues, they promptly get back to you. Very convenient to the freeway or Zona Rosa... oh airport too! Like any place things could be better but for the most part, it's a safe place to live and plenty of living space!

Thanks for sharing your experience at The Crossing at Barry Road Apartments! We're glad to hear you find our staff remarkable and the location convenient. Your feedback is appreciated, and we're happy you're enjoying the living space here!
Mediocre maintenence staff with zero communication to office makes work orders a nightmare. The leasing staff will dump you off on there boss that NEVER gets back to anyone with issues or updates. This property has gone nowhere but downhill over the last few years

Rent is very high for small spaces that are old and outdated. Very high energy bills. Paint is peeling off the exterior doors and outside ceilings; breezeways are filthy and landscaping is mud, weeds and dead bushes. There have been two shootings here in the last 3-4 months. I don't feel safe here.
The Crossing at Barry Road apartments are in a convenient location off the highway giving access to anywhere you want to drive to. I love the spacious walk-in closets! Ive never had an issue with loud noises from other tenants. Its affordable living compared to other apartments in the area.
I have been at The Crossing at Barry Road going on 3 years and have to say I havent had any major issues. I love the area and the property.
Friendly staff makes for a great living experience.
It's a good, safe place to live, and with plenty of shopping stores right around the corner.
The staff have been amazing! When I needed something fixed the maintenance came quickly. The apartment complex is well maintained and neighbors have been friendly. I am enjoying my time here. I am looking forward to the summer.
My fiancé and I just moved out of this place after living here in two apartments over the last two years. The first apartment was not updated. Although I am unable to explain why due to rules, the experience at this apartment was extremely horrible. We moved to a more updated apartment with cheap vinyl flooring. They charge for smart rent and valet trash in addition to your rent so be aware. The dog park (also very small) was unappealing in ways I also cannot explain due to rules on here. Neighbors were loud and vehicular theft crime was high. If we ever needed assistance, management never answered their phones so my fiancé would have to go to the office. When he went, he was never greeted kindly from the front office staff as they never believed he was a resident needing assistance. We also left because they tried to charge us an extra $30 in rent for the same apartment. They charge for carpet cleaning if you do not do it yourself. They also tried to charge us an excessive amount to repair one piece of vinyl floor to which I found a sample of it for $1 online. Therefore, the reasons we left were: management was disrespectful, dog waste was never under control, auto theft in the area, loud neighbors, and their attempt to charge outrageous prices for a cheaply made apartment.
Jeremy S is the person who came up the last 2 xs and was he was amazing. He was extremely fast and the work was done great. We have lived at this complex for 15 years & this is the best that the maintenance group has ever been. Normally it takes weeks to get something fixed & its normally not fixed great. This guy fixed things that we have had multiple issues with & they just band aid fix it & this guy fixed it correctly. Thank you for getting better maintenance people.
It's a great inexpensive place near I-29 and Barry Road. Very convenient.
The leasing process was fine but it was slow, with that being said though the leasing staff was excellent. Very attentive and always responsive. Overall the community is nice if you like privacy.
The crossing is just okay overall. I could go on and on about negatives but do not have enough characters to do so. Units are outdated for the price, old appliances and the “smart home” products are just okay. We had problems multiple times with getting the lock to unlock, water leak sensors do not work. We had a leak for awhile that was never detected below the sink. If you love high electric bills and a furnace that runs non stop, the crossing is perfect for you. We paid prices equivalent to a house while living here. The pools are nice but never open on time. The back pool never opened this year and the front pool didn’t until July. It was the same way the year before except back pool opened mid July. Maintenance is awful and show up with no forewarning all the time. Office staff is unprofessional at times, we were literally laughed at on the phone a couple times, once while living there at a maintenance request. Another after moving out and questioning charges, their lovely office manager couldn’t provide documents he claimed said deposit was non refundable and just laughed at me when questioned. Thanks Luis! Overall, many complexes are around the area and I’d recommend looking further into other complexes before choosing The Crossing. They also offered drawings for gift cards for positive reviews when BH Management took over, most likely why their rating are so high. Be wary of this place under BH.
Apartments & staff are nice, but I do not agree with having to pay for mandatory $25/month trash service. They only carry trash to the same dumpsters the tenants pass & should be optional
The moving in process and helpfulness in getting settled in was easy and efficient. The staff is very friendly. There was a small issue in the kitchen (garbage disposal) and it was serviced and replaced within a couple of hours. The maintenance was very clean and professional. Thank you!!!
Jeremy was very nice and helpful with fixing our dryer. There were a lot of problems with it and he fixed all of them. It works perfectly now
The office staff is efficient and helpful, very friendly. I know they treat their coworkers well too as the maintenance is just as helpful and the groundskeepers are also helpful. This facility is well run by people who care about doing their jobs right.
I like the environment and area of the apartment, plus the room itself, but the management is questionable at best when it comes to handling situations at times
The Crossing at Barry Road is conveniently located in a nice area. The Leasing agent was friendly, kind and extremely helpful. Emails and calls were received in a timely manner. Communication was great. He was knowledgeable and went above and beyond and went out of his way to take pictures for me when I forgot to take them myself on my tour. I think the base rate is a fair price and average for the area, especially during a pandemic when access to amenities is limited. Overall I had a good experience from initial meeting/tour, application process, leasing, to move in date. Minimal concerns that were easily and quickly addressed and handled. So far, I have had a good experience here and I would recommend those in the market to check out The Crossing at Barry Road.
bad owners. you pay for all extras that you think comes with the place, like they don't tell you about the service fees in the rental(it might be on your lease but they don't bother to tell you)they charge you for gas(you don't pay gas) but its for the gas grills that we don't have. the pools are breaking down and they don't have the right people to fix or clean in 2019 & 2020 and will be in 2021 trust me. I think the only people that like it rent here are pet owners and that's because it might be cheaper compared to other rentals. maintenance is OK but place is getting old
As a student, I needed somewhere in a nice, quiet area where I would feel safe and supported. I have felt all of this since moving to this community.
A great apartment community thoughtful designed by an engineer and/or architect (not just a developer) in the 1990s. Quality construction, well insulated, with concrete between floors - cannot hear the neighbors at all. Floor plans are very well thought out, and the 9 foot room heights are a plus. Valet trash is a nice feature. BH Management took over in 2019 and has been progressively renovating various aspects of the property ever since.
So far, as new tenants, we are pleased with the location and service provided by The Crossing at Barry Road. I believe they do a great job to make sure their tenants are receiving the service they need.
Other than multiple maintenance failures the staff in the office at The Crossings is fantastic.
nice place to live no trouble people mind their own business
Everyone's so friendly professional and very helpful.
Bang for your buck!
Very lovely community and very comfortable living!
The staff did not tend to the apartment when the previous tenants left. It was filthy with cat hair painted into the new paint. The cat dander lingers in the apartment including the carpets. Behind the stove is filthy, the tubs were left with a yellow film. Over all filthy conditions. The walk wells are filled with cob webs and garbage juice. Its quite filthy. My son and I have been walking the grounds picking up trash. People are not picking up their dog mess. Its quite a disappointing experience
I moved into my apartment at The Crossing 16 years ago & said at the time I would love to stay here as my last residence. That opinion has not changed. I feel safe, comfortable & definitely at home living in this community. If I do have any kind of issue, a simple call to the office & issue is usually resolved in very timely manner. This apartment complex is clean &, in the past year , has been updated with many great Smart Home features.
Leasing at the beginning of covid went smoothly. Move-in during the middle was a challenge, but under the circumstances, I am very pleased. Also, maintenance has been excellent in taking care of the important things during this time. I was super impressed with maintenance when I was carrying a bag of recycling. Jacob went above and beyond when he stopped to see if he could take my trash for me.
Fell in love with the place when I first toured. Brought six friends and family over to show exterior, which was all available. Starting one week before I moved, but after I had paid deposited and signed lease agreement, every thing changed dramatically and although I continue to care about my unit, almost everything has been difficult and disappointing. I regret that; I had looked forward to living here for a very long time.
The pool turns green way to often. And no mention why or if ever going to open again.
My experience with the apt complex since the new adm started is the worse. They updated a lot of things that do not benefit me at all and now they have a lot of ridiculously expensive new fees to pay for that. Not to mention the inconveniences of all changes, such as noise, parking restriction, people constantly coming inside the unit, etc. I would not recommend it to anyone.
The new management company is not very communicative or responsive to residents.
The Crossings at Barry Road is a wonderful place to live. Very pet friendly, great neighbors, great maintenance staff, and overall a wonderful home. It does have quirks like any place would have but they are minimal and very tolerable. We are definitely renewing our lease here.
Pros: Apartment got a new budget to update a lot of stuff. So considering the price, the apartments don't look bad. Front desk administration is rather friendly. Cons: In my opinion Maintenance and Management does not care for its residents. The outlet that powers the apartments alarm system shorted leaving spot on the outlet and going up the wall.this has been brought to the apartment's attention, the response was "it's like that in all the apartments"; We went to the fire department who agreed that although they aren't electricians this should be looked at. We finally convinced management to have a 3rd party electrician to come out and look at it, the 3rd party electrician agreed this should be resolved and advised they would inform management of such. This has never been resolved and has been noted as of November of 2019. (Update: over 7 months later it was resolved). My tickets now get closed without being resolved, I can kind of understand that a little bit given there's kind of a pandemic, but some communication goes a long way. As of now my tickets aren't even getting closed, they are just sitting there. The dog waste bins towards the back of the complex regularly get filled to extremely overflowing, and unless the office is prompted dog waste will continue to pile up in that bin. Walkways are barely shoveled during the winter, definitely not back walkways; if it gets shoveled you likely have a kind resident to thank for that. Ice melt tends to get tossed into a heap in the corner and doesn't get spread around like you would expect. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.
I applied everything was great then they said the day before I was suppose to move in I wasn’t approved mind you I applied a week almost 2 in advance. Lynn the apartment manager was like we can’t do anything about it.
Slow to respond.
Amenities are the worst ever. All fixed up for apartment appearance. People are pissed and moving out and their attitudes are showing
I enjoy living at The Crossing. Nice clean quiet community.
Management and the maintenance personal are cool people, and you half to admire that.
Its a great quiet place for the most part and its worth the price featuring new and improved immenties !
Management needs improvement with communication..
Nice apts quite extreme rental rates and mgmt who put residents needs last
Not at all satisfied, would not recommend this property to anyone. Resident parking is horrible, nowhere yo park besides handicapped spots or parking alongside the curbs which puts our vehicles in danger of being hit. Residents are allowing visitors to stay for extended periods of time, taking up all the front parking spaces leaving other residents to have to park several buildings away from the 1 they live in or risk having their car towed for parking in handicapped spots when there are no other spots left.
Dont move here. Staff is rude. When you are met with issues there will be many delays. Even if the issues are urgent they dont care. They wont answer the phone once there is only 15 mins left to their shift, there have been many occurrences where I have tried to reach out for an emergency and they dont pick up.
Overall nice and quiet community. It is near almost everything one needs.
Small apartment, extremely outdated. Overpriced. Untrustworthy maintenance staff.
I liked this complex 5 years ago but it has gone downhill over the past two years and more so the past year. There is trash everywhere including in the lake. Residents are very loud and you see KCPD here a lot. The fountains in the lake drowned interstate noise. They haven't worked for 2 years or more. I am moving in June because management and owners do not care anymore.
