Property Ratings at The Current at 37 Apartments
Everything about this place is overpriced! They slide little fee’s and details into the contract so when you move out you end up paying more. The management is absolutely terrible. Parking sucks, people break into vehicles all the time due to poor lighting, small dogs go into the big dog park and they constantly have fights with the bigger dogs and so so many insects in your apartment that you can’t keep up with them. Do your self a favor and stay away!!!!!

Pros: Nice inside, updated appliances, attached yard, big dog parks, big bedrooms, large master closet, gated, relatively quiet community, John is the only employee that is helpful. Cons: So many bugs/spiders, they charge you monthly for pest control but only spray if you ask them to, limited parking (especially if you come home late at night), $21 trash fee monthly, expensive carports, extremely thin walls/ceilings (we could hear the neighbors alarm in the morning), maintenance always left our back gate unlatched so our dog would get out, outrageous cleaning fees upon move-out ($275), overpriced rent (buying a house was cheaper).

Just moved out of this place. Constant issues with parking, constantly flooding here, filled with mosquitoes and crickets - very swampy area!!! On top of that I was so GLAD to finally get out of there the charges on my final statement were ridiculous!!! I’ve lived in many different apartment complexes and none have had the outrageous cleaning charges this had. I would NOT recommend to anyone. It is way over priced as well!!! Clearly They care more about making their money than they do their residents.

We are disheartened to see that you feel this way. We want to assure you, that we take pride in being very transparent with our residents about their accounts and the charges associated with it. We would be more than willing to discuss your move-out charges with you in greater detail with you in our office with a team member or over the phone at (361) 241-4000. Thank you. - The Current @ 37 Team
The management is terrible. They have no night drop box therefore you can’t drop a check or a non-renew letter. I wouldn’t re-new there if it was free. I was finally able to make it to hand in my letter which was 42 days from my moving date. They decided they needed to charge me another months rent. I killed 20 tarantula’s, management did nothing about it. They have other little spiders inside the apartment. Yet, they charged every month for Pest control. Wish I could send them to collections for stealing my Pest money. They have one trash compactor for the WHOLE complex. It fills up pretty quick but you’ll see a sign for being charged if you don’t put trash in the compactor. No parking what so ever!

My wife and I have lived at this apartment community for about a year and a half. Compared the only other apartment community we have lived at, and compared to experiences we have heard of through friends and family from other apartment communities, The Current is pretty amazing. Unlike some of the other reviews, we don't have any issues with general parking. The pool is clean. The dog parks have happy dogs. Residents are always kind and say hi, at a minimum, to each other. Management is extremely helpful and kind, unlike what other people here are saying - at least in our experiences we have had with them. Our unit was new when we moved in and we haven't had any huge issues, just small inconveniences (ice maker not working, etc.). The only issues that we have had have been noise related. The walls are thinner compared to the previous apartment we lived in, so we keep our tv/music volume low and try to give some respect to our neighbors at all times. Occasionally, a neighbor or two will play music far too loudly, which can be frustrating at times. However, if passed on to management, they will ask a few questions about the situation and jump right in to fix it. Whether that's a courtesy knock on the door in a few minutes or a reminder through a letter, they will work on it. This does not happen often at all. So, overall, we dig this place and plan on renewing our lease in a few months. Advantages of The Current is that it's full of really, really nice apartment units with great residents and perks. Disadvantages of The Current are that the walls can sound pretty thin at times, especially during winters when A/C or other common noises aren't on. However, that disadvantage can be easily fixed with a call to management, so we do not consider this issue huge at all. Most of the time loud music is an accident anyway so it's not a big deal. Again, we love this place and highly recommend to people looking for an apartment community that is modernized and full of good perks.

My apartment was brand new when I moved in. And it was pretty nice - no issues with the apartment itself. The management and staff, however, completely ruin what could have been an good place to live. The neighbors upstairs were loud at all hours of the day or night. Not sure if they were remodeling for 12 months or operating a meth lab, but the thumping and banging I heard were unbelievable. Repeated calls to management did nothing, although they promised to take care of it immediately every time. They also encouraged me to call the security officer. Never once did I get a call back from the security officer. Dozens of attempts before I gave up on that avenue. Then, a new manager appeared. I didn't know it was possible, but she was even less responsible than the previous staff. Ok, noise and unresponsiveness were my biggest issues. Now the other issues: Parking sucks. Unless you want to pay extra every month for covered parking, I suggest you break your leg and get a handicap tag. Even then, no guarantees. And people in this complex can't park between the lines! The pool is nice, when it's open. Several times, we found the gates chain-locked and management was confused about why the pool was closed. Rules at the pool aren't enforced - big parties, loud music, and glass containers on weekend evenings. Trash - all trash is taken to a large trash compactor that will take your breath away with the smell. It's often completely full. Which means people stack their trash up around the compactor, as well as in it. Great feature. I don't miss this place at all. Several of my apartment neighbors were experiencing many of the same issues - especially the noise and lack of response from management. Some of them were also experiencing mechanical issues that they had difficulty getting resolved.

Once you call Vantage at Corpus Christi their automated voice says, “professionally managed”. That is a biggest lie. They can’t keep the same workers there for more then a month. 8 months of living there and never once did they spray even when I requested. They are real good at charging you for “pest”. I was forced to spray myself with store bought spray I paid for. If you want to cuddle with bugs rent an apartment at Vantage! To put the cherry on the ice cream after my 8 months of being there. I did not re new my lease, you could not pay me to live there. I go in to turn in my keys etc however the NEW assistant manager was too busy eating her Sonic her “wonderful husband brought her” to do a apt walk with me. She said, “we will send you a check in the mail that is your deposit.” Guess what, my check never came in but I got a lovely call from Collections saying I owe Vantage 300 dollars! Once I ask why, my apt was not dirty, nothing was wrong with it. Collections say call Vantage and see what it is for and then send us a letter saying why you want to disburse this. Well after attempting to get in contact with Vantage over 18 times NOT ONE ANSWER! I PROMISE YOU ARE BETTER OFF NOT RENTING A APARTMENT WITH VANTAGE! VANTAGE IS HORRIFIC!
Great staff. Jonathan was so helpful and made me feel so welcomed. Nothing but positivity, I'm glad I chose to stop by and ask for info, now I'm living in awesome apartments.
