Property Ratings at The Douglas Apartments
Booked a tour on apartments.com just to be called 2 days later to be told they’d double booked. They seem to not have it together…
Property Manager at The Douglas Apartments, Responded To This Review
Hi there, thank you for taking the time to let us know about your recent experience. Unfortunately apartments.com does not relay the appointments to the community, which is something we are working diligently to avoid this in the future.
this apartment is poorly managed and there have been about 4/5 break ins to cars and package locks since I have moved in. No increased security and their solution was that the tenants should deal with it and call the cops if they want.
My fiancé and I moved into a one bedroom apartment here that we absolutely love, but that’s where the good ends with the Douglas. There are constant inconveniences, from the fire alarm going off at odd hours several times a month to painting the garage in the middle of the winter, to broken appliances that take months to fix, and so much more. I can’t recommend this building regardless of how cozy we have been able to make our space. We are absolutely looking to move at the end of this lease with no chance of renewal.
This apartment is so loud. It's right next to one of the largest homeless shelters, there are tons of parties, and there are bike bars that go by late into the night. I was on the 5th floor on Walnut, and was constantly being woken up. I'm the year I've lived here I've had to evacuate for 9 different fire alarms! Twice the apartment was evacuated because a truck hit the sprinkler system, and a few times we were evacuated because someone smoked in or near the building. There have been a lot of car break-ins I the last year, I've seen a few people get arrested against balconies on the first floor, and would be nervous to liv at street level. I know The Douglas can't help the homeless population around the building, but the place is a little unsafe. This place feels like an upscale down, not the young adult luxury living they advertise.

Moved into the Douglas and immediately regretted it. Every weekend night the entire lobby is trashed, glass broken, drunk people on couches, people are in the hot tub until 5. If you want to relive your college days and live in a dirty college frat house, than the Douglas is the place. Otherwise, I'd look elsewhere there. So many options in downtown Denver this place is last on the list.

Great Building and amenities, however there is no security - other than to kick you out of the hot tub. Cars in the garage have been broken into, the main garage door was broken for 6 months, card readers are broken all the time - months to repair, they just don't care about the tenants....
GREAT downtown living! Great amenities, close to nights life, and business district. Rent in Denver is ridiculously expensive, but The Douglas is the most reasonable place I've found.
The actual apartment is nice but the filthy residents you deal with are not. I've lived here about 7 months and loved it at first but it has slowly gone down hill to the point where dog feces will be in the hall way. I'm really disappoint with how management claims to keep up with things but they really don't. I would love for it to be like it was when we first moved in but the price is just rising and the quality is failing. Also there are huge frat like parties every weekend. Not a big deal if that is your mentality.
I would have given this apartment 2.5 stars if I could. Pros: Good location, especially if you're a bar-hopper, and also located close to the Rockies stadium New Side-to-side sound insulation is pretty good, I can't hear my neighbors at all. Reasonably good gym Have not had many maintenance issue. I only had one, which was fixed within 24 hours. Cons: Bad up-down sound insulation--you can hear a lot of what happens in the room above you. Tiny dishwasher. Slightly on the pricey side when you include fees (e.g., parking). I would probably live here again. I rented sight unseen and can't say I feel ripped off. I know friends that live in places that are a little better (at least appear so) and I know people that live in worse places.
My apartment is more than an apartment it is a home & it is in a great location great neighborhood in downtown Denver across from Coors Field, The unit itself is a beautiful two bedroom two master bath & plenty of room real high ceilings beautiful view of the pool right above the hot tub on the top floor,The building is superclean great Gym yoga room & great common areas pool tables fireplaces computers grills and TVs & a tap room, the building is beautiful the location is perfect & it is the community of people that live in the building & the management that runs the building that make it even better it is like a big building a family. If you move to Denver and you don't know anyone spend the day at the pool at the Dougie you'll make great friends for life, special place!
